Another Tuesday, another edition of EDSBS Live! with Orson and me.
I'm swamped with a bunch of work between now and showtime, so I'll make this brief and urge you to join us tonight at the show.
What: EDSBS Live! online radio. Fall Practice Edition
Where: At NowLive, where you can chat with each other and the show hosts throughout the broadcast in the online forum (which has gotten damn lively). To phone in to the show, just call (310) 984-7600.
Who: No special guests this week. We're just taking calls and talking fall practice. Football's back and we're damn excited.
Four Questions: As always, our four questions for the night.
1. What’s your fall question marks for your team?
We've beat all these to death now, haven't we? An unproven secondary, depth issues on the offensive line, a running game that sputtered and died at the end of '07, and over/under questions on player arrests.
2. Who is the player your team CANNOT lose this fall?
As is well known around here, I still say it's Colt McCoy. It's not that this wouldn't be a good team without him - it's that our chances of having a truly elite season depend entirely on his ability to be superb.
3. Your preseason shopping list?
4. What’s something that gets you almost as excited as football?
God I really want to answer with tailgating, but that doesn't quite feel right. Football capital F includes pregame rituals. Instead, a nod this week to my boy Barry Bonds. This is his big week, after all. I know I'm in the minority here, but you don't always choose your heroes, right?
See you tonight at 6:30.

bonds
I can't wait for him to break the record so this story can be over. I'm pretty ambivalent about the whole thing to the point where I'm not that interested in watching any of his at-bats to "witness history."The worst thing, though, is that I think the general sports world (fans and media alike) feel the same way, and all the Bonds coverage feels forced and uninspired as a result.
In other words, break the record so we can start talking about pennant races and the upcoming football season.

Thank God football is here
'Cause the Giants are awful. Once Barry hits this last homer, they'll be irrelevant again and I'll be officially without sport until football kicks off.

giants
At least you have Barry to watch. As a Rangers fan, I was out of it by April 30.

4.
Mine's gotta be the Atlanta Braves, and I'd almost take the stress-free viewing of the Giants rather than the nail-bitingness of watching Atlanta Braves Baseball on TBS. Seriously, the only time I get more stressed out about a sporting event is watching Longhorn football.

Also,
Does anyone know if TiVo would work with illegal cable? Or does it need to have the cable provider information?
jc25 - August 7, 2007
it should work
Tivo doesnt contact the cable company, it contacts something like TV Guide to get its program information.
