Bama is predictably destroying a terrible Auburn team, and Florida is likewise beating up on the Seminoles. But alas, there is hope! Your adopted fightin' Baylor Bear football team is leading Texas Tech 28-21 heading into the 4th Quarter. If the Bears win, whatever happens in Stillwater tonight means absolutely nothing to Texas, as the Horns will be headed to Kansas City regardless. And a win in Kansas City unequivocally sends Texas to Miami. So the moral of the story is: SIC 'EM BEARS!!!

Top Jimmy - November 29, 2008
Baylor needs a TD drive here
and to take some time off the clock
Hook'em13 - November 29, 2008
12 min drive ending with a TD too much to ask? lol
HornPossessed - November 29, 2008
If Illinois can put together a 9 minute drive and not even make it to the end zone...

They have had big rallies in the second half before
milevin - November 29, 2008
well they scored 7 in each quarter as of now
justfr1day - November 29, 2008
Baylor needs to stop committing monster penalties
Holy crap, an offsides and a def. holding call may have just decided the Big12 championship.

Baylor is baylor
Let’s not forget this fact.
milevin - November 29, 2008
Why did he run into the pile.

girlslikefootball2 - November 29, 2008
I hope your right
Baylor needs a turnover with out a penalty
blazzinken - November 29, 2008
I'll never understand...
…why coaches still think they can beat Tech in the secondary.
three-man rush + soft zone = wide open receivers all over the field
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
Tech needs to be out of consideration in a 3-way tie if they win.
They suck.
HornPossessed - November 29, 2008
Let's go Baylor! C'mon this aint over.
the1austin - November 29, 2008
NOW it's over
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
Hold, Hold. Hold Hold Hold Hold
HornPossessed - November 29, 2008
Holy shit bear hug on the d lineman and no call?
HookEm34 - November 29, 2008
If Big 12 officials ever called holding, Tech would never score another point.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
YOU CANNOT RUSH ONLY THREE GUYS AND HOPE TO GET TO GRAHAM HARREL. PERIOD. WHAT IS BRILES THINKING?
4th generation fan - November 29, 2008

Take that O-Line!
HornPossessed - November 29, 2008
somebody just got a lesson on how to secure something.
RICHUT96 - November 29, 2008

Horn Brain - November 29, 2008
They are scared
milevin - November 29, 2008
Nice job Rhodes way to represent Denison! lol had to say it!
HookemHorns25 - November 29, 2008
I can't believe how lucky they are
Two turnovers turned over by penalties and a dropped pass to give a pick. I just don’t get it.
TheElusiveShadow - November 29, 2008

poteet76 - November 29, 2008

Horn Brain - November 29, 2008
sHIT SHIT SHIT
girlslikefootball2 - November 29, 2008
The only team that doesn’t play Tech chickenshit is OU. I hate watching these pathetic defensive strategies.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008

ha
jacobb23 - November 29, 2008
I thought they were planning on doing it this morning during game day
ajax77777 - November 29, 2008
Weather
apparently delayed the plan. According to some on Orangebloods, plane is over Stillwater now.
awiggo - November 29, 2008
If BU will keep running the zone read, this ain't over yet. That's a big if, tho.
crackaTX - November 29, 2008
Griffin needs to take it himself though, 2/3 of that zone-read have he's given it to Finley.
And it’s gone nowhere.
HornPossessed - November 29, 2008
Agreed. Tech has bitten on the fake EVERY DAMN TIME.
crackaTX - November 29, 2008

Hook'em13 - November 29, 2008

No
I think the Big XII rep in the Fiesta will play USC, if Oregon St wins, and Ohio State, if Oregon wins.
awiggo - November 29, 2008
that’s what our hopes rest on now. OSU keeping it close.
4th generation fan - November 29, 2008
Pick 6!!
blazzinken - November 29, 2008
well
this hurts them with any voters that are watching (on VS., not likely). maybe if OSU wins tonight, this helps keep us in front of Tech. getting blown out by OU, then struggling at home against Baylor. not a great way to finish off the season.
also, the showing today makes it seem possible that they could actually lose to Mizzou. time to root for the Cowboys.
littlevisigoth - November 29, 2008
If oSu wins tonight
Tech goes to the Big 12 championship, but we’re basically guaranteed a spot in the BCS title game.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
Seriously, they should drop a couple spots after this game.
HornPossessed - November 29, 2008
exactly
i do think that conference championships are under-rated (both in Football and Basketball), but obviously a chance to play in the National Championship game FAR outweighs the chance to play in the Big XII Championship game.
littlevisigoth - November 29, 2008
...
I’m not particularly thrilled at the opportunity to play Florida, tho. I don’t think we win that one.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
I do.
and I wanna see our D chew on Tebow a little. take his swagger down a notch.
txex92 - November 29, 2008
tbh
I’d love to see an OU/UF game. That’d be something else.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
Exactly.
And OU seemed unstoppable until Texas beat them.
Kool Hand - November 29, 2008
Harvin hurt today
haven’t heard if it’s anything serious or not.
I think we could go toe to toe with Florida. I really think our offense can keep us in ANY game.
littlevisigoth - November 29, 2008
ESPN news talking right now
that this miserable tech performance takes a lot of luster off OU’s big win, making it all but clear that texas should be voted above OU.
cwofford - November 29, 2008
Agreed
How do all the commentators believe in us but the f’ing pollsters keep voting against us???
afrokinger - November 29, 2008
Because
Pollsters are stupid. Always have been, always will be.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
give 'em a chance
they reversed course a few weeks ago when we jumped back over OU after the Tech loss. they may come to their senses again. let’s root like hell that OSU at least keeps it close. a blowout win in Stillwater, and OU almost certainly jumps us.
littlevisigoth - November 29, 2008
So how do they decide their votes?
They don’t watch all the games, they don’t watch commentators … Is the box score all they care about?
afrokinger - November 29, 2008
for the coaches
sadly yes.
littlevisigoth - November 29, 2008
I like that argument
until it extends to Texas’ loss vs Tech.
Kool Hand - November 29, 2008
extending that argument to Texas' loss to Tech is fine
the argument makes Texas’ loss against Tech look worse.
okay, so OU’s win doesn’t look as good, and our loss looks worse.
so now what? how do i decide who should be ranked higher between UT and OU? can i put them on a neutral field? oh. 45-35
APinAustin - November 29, 2008
45-35
mtntrance - November 29, 2008
41-38
bamfor - November 29, 2008
this wasn't the same baylor offense we saw in the first half
Top Jimmy - November 29, 2008
If some idiot receiver would catch a pass
They had a chance.
TheElusiveShadow - November 29, 2008
if some frosh safety catches a floating INT...
oops, wrong tech game
txex92 - November 29, 2008
lol
Top Jimmy - November 29, 2008
ouch
Kool Hand - November 29, 2008
no doubt
Griffin had zero help in the second half
Top Jimmy - November 29, 2008
Two more plays should do it.
milevin - November 29, 2008
Baylor wins this one if the officiating/coaching was competent.
HornPossessed - November 29, 2008
How the fuck did we lose to Tech?
the1austin - November 29, 2008
Our guys were exhausted.
girlslikefootball2 - November 29, 2008
Have you not seen a GD called offense?
We blew chunks in the first half and the DB tackled high instead of going for the push out of bounds.
milevin - November 29, 2008
Tech won't take a knee
mtntrance - November 29, 2008
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
Top Jimmy - November 29, 2008
I despise Tech
Super Saiyan Patrick - November 29, 2008
Leach needs to find a new job for next year
This was his best team and the schedule worked in his favor.
Next year, his QB and star WR are gone. And he has to go to Stillwater and Austin.
milevin - November 29, 2008
Leach has a chance at a Big 12 title once every 3-4 years...
And that’s about as good as it can get at Tech.
the1austin - November 29, 2008
I'd want to see him at Miss St.
bamfor - November 29, 2008
So close..
ugh..
nyclonghorngal - November 29, 2008
Well in other news
Brantley is going in for Florida next possession
blazzinken - November 29, 2008
It's nice to see him get some playing time.
I wonder how he’s liking his decision to spurn Mack Brown.
Kool Hand - November 29, 2008
Baylor played way past my expectations
mtntrance - November 29, 2008
And yet
they still underachieved in the 2nd half.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
so close and yet so far away
poteet76 - November 29, 2008
Is Leach drunk?
Super Saiyan Patrick - November 29, 2008

crackaTX - November 29, 2008

…he’s Satan.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
BU is gonna be VERY interesting to watch over the next coupla years
crackaTX - November 29, 2008
yep
I’ve been saying all season that if they ever manage to build depth around him, they’ll be very dangerous.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
well, with crabtree out with a boot, i don't see him playing in the big12 title (in case OSU wins). that's good for texas. nt
cwofford - November 29, 2008
We need tonights game to look exactly like this one.
EXACTLY.
the1austin - November 29, 2008
Refs
took away two turnovers for baylor… Amazes me that two bad calls (and a bunch of no calls) cost texas a spot in the title game.. I hope those refs burn in hell.
(yes I am furious)
Hook'em13 - November 29, 2008
God...
Auburn sucks.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
Were those same refs from the Texas - TT game? Just curious.
HornPossessed - November 29, 2008
Surely they'll be in Stillwater. .nt whills
Horn Brain - November 29, 2008
really though
at the end of the day, this was a LOT closer than it should have been. Tech is red-faced right now for trailing through three quarters at home to Baylor, when they’re trying to make a claim to one of the top two spots. OSU winning tonight should absolutely punch our ticket to Miami.
littlevisigoth - November 29, 2008
ok, so...
do i root for oklahoma and hope that the numbers work out for us?
do i root for oklahoma state because i think mizzou has a better chance against tech?
APinAustin - November 29, 2008
Dunno
it’s such a clusterfuck this season.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
no kidding
APinAustin - November 29, 2008
mizzou beating tech may allow us to back door into miami
APinAustin - November 29, 2008
If oSu wins tonight...
…we’re in Miami no matter what happens in KC.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
i really
don’t think it would matter if Tech goes to KC. anybody else agree with me?
littlevisigoth - November 29, 2008
yes.
ryanlionrah - November 29, 2008
Doesn't matter to us, no
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
root for OSU
if they lose a close one, that’s also as good.
littlevisigoth - November 29, 2008
well, time to swallow the pride...
and go root for (yuck) ou. again. dammit.
txex92 - November 29, 2008
Root for OSU and pray.
HornPossessed - November 29, 2008
I dunno...
mizzou lost to kansas, don’t see them hanging anything on tech
txex92 - November 29, 2008
Tech's MNC hopes are DONE!
There is NO way Tech will jump over a 1 loss Texas. 39-33 at home at night in last second won’t be enough for them.
goingforthecorner - November 29, 2008
it was snowing and maclin and coffman both got hurt..
maclin could run circles around tech’s d.
jacobb23 - November 29, 2008
Why? Let Tech have the South. GO POKES.
crackaTX - November 29, 2008
You're rooting for OU to pass us up in the standings?
goingforthecorner - November 29, 2008
nope just holding out for numbers...
txex92 - November 29, 2008
unfortunately, especially considering Mizzou lost..
I just don’t see this happening.
Top Jimmy - November 29, 2008
Terrible coaching job in second half by Baylor
Griffin is a premier playmaker. Tech knew this and still couldn’t stop him yet you largely choose to ignore his playmaking abilities in the second half? Coaching 101: let your playmakers make plays.
ryanlionrah - November 29, 2008
I saw we root for OSU.
Everytime we root for someone, they do something we don’t want them to. So OSU will probably lose to OU, but just barely. That’s my plan.
Horn Brain - November 29, 2008
Just a side note...
Mizzou lost to Kansas… it would hurt us very much if OU win tonight,
but it would defnitely help us if Tech goes to Big 12 Title against 9-3 Mizzou. (instead of 10-2 Mizzou).
austinite - November 29, 2008
i cant see why we would root for OU
if OU wins, they go to the big 12 champ, stomp missouri, and head to miami.
if they lose, they are out, tech goes to kansas city and wild speculation ensues.
UTrumbo - November 29, 2008
That's been discussed to death, but it's not clear how the human polls would end up if OU wins a close one in Stillwater.
crackaTX - November 29, 2008
I don’t see us gaining enough ground on them in the human polls to mitigate the jump they’re going to make in the computers.

AP Poll
don’t mean sh*t in the BCS :)
afrokinger - November 29, 2008
Aware.
But since that’s the only poll where voters votes are published (until after next week’s games), it’s the only poll where a specific example can be given.
Wiggin - November 29, 2008
Damn, I could have been working on my 12-page paper right now if BU had won.
Now I get to have a heart attack and criticize OU all night.
Oh wait, this could be fun.

One of these days...
…Time Warner Cable needs to start the 24/7 Erin Andrews Channel.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
Amen to that
seth78 - November 29, 2008
Texas Tech is not a good football team
We choked in Lubbock, plain and simple.
andy_wooster - November 29, 2008
I agree
girlslikefootball2 - November 29, 2008
Wouldn't call it a choke
A choke is when you’re winning and then blow it (like Baylor). We just didn’t show up until midway through the third.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
I think losing to a markedly inferior team
when that team is all that stands between you and the BCS title game is a choke.
andy_wooster - November 29, 2008
It's a bad loss, yes...
…but that’s not what the word “choke” means.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
yes it is
andy_wooster - November 29, 2008
Hm...
…are you also one of those people who says “untracked” when you really mean “on track”?
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
Well technically...
We were winning and then blew it. So that would make it, by any definition, a choke job.
jw4425 - November 29, 2008
It's not a choke if you had to come from behind to get the lead in the first place.
If we’d have held on, it would have been a choke on their part.
Microtonal - November 29, 2008
Let's remember...
how hyped up Tech was for the biggest game in the program’s history. And that it was the end of “the gauntlet”. Football is an emotional game… it matters.
I certainly think it was a disappointing loss, but not a choke.
crackaTX - November 29, 2008
Any team that has to rally to beat Baylor at home
should just be given a loss.
seth78 - November 29, 2008
Defintion of "choke" according to Webster's:
“Blake Gideon with :08 left to play in Lubbock on Nov. 2, 2008.”
utlonghorn24 - November 29, 2008
Oregon just scored
7-0
bamfor - November 29, 2008
Go Oregon.
I really don’t even want to see USC again. Ever.
utlonghorn24 - November 29, 2008
Wouldn't this hurt us though?
If Oregon wins, that makes USC the Pac – 10 champ, no?
If Oklahoma State beats OU tonight, that puts Tech in the Big 12 Championship Game.
Assuming Tech loses (or even if Tech wins some might argue), the argument is that we are in the MNC game.
But with USC winning the Pac – 10, won’t all the media talking heads try to argue you can’t put Texas in the MNC game since they didn’t even win their conference?
I just want to eliminate that argument.
Therefore, we need Oregon State to beat Oregon.
Top Jimmy - November 29, 2008
Well they are already talking about
how if OU loses and Tech wins the Big 12 title game, that Tech should jump over Texas and go to Miami.
HookEm34 - November 29, 2008
I hate to say it, but I can't argue with that argument.
As much as I want Texas to go (and I think Texas will still go even in the scenario you mention above), I can’t disagree with that argument.
Tech beat us. Assuming they win the Big 12; they beat us head-to-head AND won the Big 12. Can’t argue with that.
But, I still think we go to the MNC because of Tech’s computer averages. I don’t think/know if they can pass us in BCS, especially considering Mizzou is now 9-3.
And this example highlights how bad the BCS is. Playoff anyone?
Top Jimmy - November 29, 2008
Looks like the Oregon St. offense is really hurting without Jacquizz Rogers
bamfor - November 29, 2008
I say go OSU and
let tech go to b12 game. unless they put up 70-3 on a now down and out Mizzou team, they arent Texas and arent going to get the votes to get to the NC game over us or anybody else for that matter.
RICHUT96 - November 29, 2008
Good...
Oregon State scored.
10-7 Oregon leads, though.
Top Jimmy - November 29, 2008
it's not over
root for OSU, the numbers are against us, but we can still go to the MNC. go pokes!!!!
