It’s shameful that ESPNsec is shilling for Tebow. ESPN has a contract with the SEC is why. Grahm Harrell so much more deserving than Tebow, it’s not even debateable.
Here are the great passing stats this year for Tebow:
Lake Travis and Garrett Gilbert beat the crap out of Friendswood and Texas Tech recruit Jacob Karam.
GG went off for 3 TD passing (with 253 passing yards total) and 3 TD rushing (with 134 rushing yards total) while Karam managed 233 yards passing with 0 TD and 2 INT.
We don’t redshirt him at the start of the year, but rather watch and if Colt gets injured he gets the nod over Chiles/Harris and loses the redshirt. Just my guess.
why waste one of his years? Redshirt him and get him in the gym. Work him out to get stronger for a year and work him in practice learning the offense. As a redshirt freshman he competes for the backup job with Harris and apprentices. Following year he is the starter.
I can’t wait for the Horns to hammer OSU, and UF to administer a beatdown on OU, then listen to everyone in the media slam the spooners and the heisman for the next year.
I think he goes pro. all the senior quarterbacks had bad seasons so the only quarterbacks who would be first rounders would be him or stafford. so I’m sure he goes
I am a tubby 5’8" and 185 pounds and I could have thrown for 3000 yards as OU’s QB this year dumping it off to Manuel and Julio and Gresham on jailbreak screens.
Here’s the deal — we absolutely need to take the 3 of last 4 and turn it into like 8 of 9 against OU. OU may beat Florida (I doubt it), but going forward… leave no doubt… we will own OU for a decade or longer. Karma, yo.
You guys can’t catch a break this year. Not only does Oklahoma steal a conference championship from you and a national title birth, they steal a Heisman trophy. I personally thought it was going to be between Tebow and McCoy. All I see from Sam Bradford is a better version of Jason White, nothing more. A guy with too many weapons that can’t lead his team through adversity. Just a better and more athletic version of Jason White. It should have been either McCoy or Tebow not Bradford. The Heisman has become joke now. Just hand it to the quarterback on the team in the national title game with the best stats. When you have guys like Eric Crouch, Jason White, and Ron Dane win it in the last 10 years you know the award has become illegit. I’m not saying that these guys shouldn’t have won it because they were terrible or non-existent pro players its they weren’t great college players.
but you’re absolutely right. The Heisman is a beauty contest, with zero relevance, no memorability, and a negative predictor of professional success. More Heisman winners end up as trivia answers than professional football players (Chris Weinke, anyone?). And ESPN flat said the other day that Reggie Bush was dogging it and not a good running back.
We beat two Heisman winners in ’05 and now one this year. I can only hope Florida/Tebow does the same.
that I’m actually pissed off right now, after the Vince snub I sort of wrote off this ridiculous trophy. And after all the BcS that happened in the last few weeks I thought to myself if Colt at least received the Heisman I’d feel a little better… effing OU, my hatred grows a little brighter orange.
and ou seems to catching all the breaks. but we all know that ut and colt had a great season. here’s to hoping we can kick tosu’s ass and romp through ’09 with a national title and a heisman for colt.
that bradford’s heisman moment was the flip. Which was a stupid decision going for a touchdown that he didn’t even get on the flip. Also, remember that a wide receiver could take OU to a big12 championship so really what do his numbers really mean about him as an individual outstanding college football player?
And us Okies can take solace in the fact we are going to the NCG, our local product just won the Heisman and…….George Bush isnt going to be moving to out state in a month!
You haters might also want to check out the census records. Did you know that a higher percentage of Oklahomans are High School and College Graduates than Texans?
Amazing that intead of enjoying your “local product” and his Heiman you actually took time to look that up—must be nothing better to do north of the Red River. Don’t see any links though that show the percentage of ou players that are from the state of Texas.
Not even government workers look at the census on a Saturday night.
Go away troll. Do me a favor and blow your life savings wad on the most expensive Orange Bowl package you can find, and tell me how the experience was when you get back.
As someone who recently just chose to go to UT over OU, I can tell you that it is insanely easy to get into OU. I didn’t even fill out the essays on the application, and I was still accepted the next day. So if that says anything about the quality of education OU provides, then your figures aren’t very impressive.
Whatever you think about OU and OU football, let’s not throw down on the state and its people. Oklahoma has a rich history and beautiful hills, lakes, and woods. The people I’ve met were gracious and friendly, even to this Longhorn. While there, I rode historic railroads, visited ancient ruins, and heard good music. I had an opportunity to interact with Native Americans striving to sustain their culture. There is much there for visitors to appreciate and for Oklahomans to be proud of.
Just because some of their football fans act like jerks, it’s really unfair to hold that against everyone else. After all, Texas has plenty of jerks of our own. Football rivalries seem to provide an outlet for pent up animosities and that’s probably why we invest so much into it. But when it goes beyond football, maybe its time to take a step back and try to see the big picture.
Not just this year, not just the last few years, but since the beginning of football. We own you. No matter how many players you steal from Texas, we own you. No matter how many championships you steal, we own you. No matter how many slimeball coaches you bring to your state, we own you. We own you and we will always own you. Because we’re Texas. and you’re oklahoma. That’s why.
Short memories, little analysis for Heisman voters
It seems like the Heisman voters focus only on the last week or two of the season, and don’t do that much focusing even then. Thanks to the BCS computers, Bradford and OU got to play in the Big 12 championship against the fifth-best team in the conference “championship.” When given that chance, they took full advantage, never letting up in their quest to win that fifth 60-point victory. Never mind that OU had a HUGE offensive line to protect Bradford, and a stable of skill players to take the pressure off his ass. He had all day to make decisions in the pocket. Colt and the Longhorns beat OU with heart, brains and team chemistry. Colt often created his own opportunities with his arm and his feet. His leadership and character brought out the best in his teammates and gave us a great season. I’m disappointed in the Heisman vote, but I’d take one Colt-led Longhorn team over a hundred OU’s any day of the week. I’m proud of the Longhorns, and congratulate and thank all those guys for what they did this year.
(By the way, I could even stomach a second Tebow Heisman better than this).
Billy Sims just got excited. He thought it was 1972 again. He just saw Greg Brady win the heisman. Greg’s mother, Carol, looked lonely. He was doing his mating call.
The last part of this season has just been a pepper spray shot in the eye. I understand no one expected all these great things out of our team back in July and August, but shit. We have been bent over. Oh well, when Florida poops on stoops and we blast Ohio St. and end up ranked #1 in 09 pre-season, all will be well and we can move forward.
with four out of five offensive line graduating from OU. we should see just how well Bradford does when even mediocre teams will put pressure on him. Since OU kept it’s starters in so much the next group of starters won’t have much game experience. They won’t be prepared to run the speeded up offense do to lack experience. We will see how well Bradford does. Stoops shot his wad this year because they lose so much talent for next year.
I expect to see him do as well as McCoy did last year. I looking forward to seeing him on is back much more next season.
If you ask me I would rather have beat OU and not play for the National Championship than be in OU’s place and to be losers and weasel they way into the NCG.
If you ask Colt McCoy whether he would rather beat OU or have the Heisman he rather have beat OU.
Bradford knows he may win all those other games and awards but Texas was a better team than OU no matter what.
This just means they’ll lose the National Title game. I think Leinart has been the only one to win the Heisman and the Title game in the same year in the past, like, forever. And we all know it’s sort of a cursed thing anyway. I hope Florida State beats the shit out of OU and exposes them for the frauds they are. Karma’s a bitch, y’all, OU will get their’s. And besides, “big game bob” is always the goose that lays the loser egg.
I had a function tonight, so I missed the agony of the evening. But I had thought Bradford would win just from how the propaganda/popularity was flowing the last two weeks. No doubt it is just a beauty contest now, a function of publicity influencing popularity, not really anything to do with rational discourse. I think next year we should just ignore it, from Colt on down, like it doesn’t exist. If I were him, I wouldn’t even go to New York, and I wouldn’t tell them til after the vote. Make them bring the sonofabitch here. Fuck ‘em if they don’t like it.
As for us, it’s time to save our energy for the important things in life, like tOSU and the 2009 season and beating the living shit out of OU (with no let up whatsoever). Whatever flows one way will one day flow back the other. Don’t bemoan our current fate; this will pass. Ignore the okies that come on board; no comments, no nothing. I suspect that Florida and Urban Meyer will do a lot of our dirty work for us, but I’m not going to spend my precious time on okie trash.
I’m proud of Colt for what he has accomplished and the powerful and mature leadership he provided to the Horns. He made things possible that we couldn’t imagine in August and we are, by nature, a very optimistic bunch of fans. Those Heisman voter may forget, but we damn sure won’t.
Now that the steel has been tempered, the swift sword is sure to follow.
In a system that openly rewards bad sportsmanship,
what an honor it is to have men of integrity like Mack and Colt in our program. Whenever and whatever awards do come, they will have no taint, no question that they are 100% deserved. How good it is to be a Longhorn.
If Bradford does go pro, and he would be stupid not to as he will almost certainly be one of the top players taken. There may be a little karma coming his way as Detroit will most certainly have the overall number one pick, as they are looking to be the first team to lose 16 games in a single season. It will be hard for him to turn down the money and if he gets stuck in the black hole that is the Lions i can’t help but feel as if he deserves that sort of hell on earth that is Detroit.
Heisman – 122
Sam Bradford (1726)
Colt McCoy (1604)
Coaches & Harris combined – 157
OU (4,181)
Texas (4,024)
The similarity is eerie.
Personally, I agree with legendary sports writer Blackie Sherrod when he resigned his Heisman voting privlege as soon as television sportscasters were invited into the panel. He was onto something and presumably way out front on this Heisman thing…..
Like the BCS, it boils down to who is most sexy a the end of the season. After the Big 12 Championship mess, I had high hopes for Colt winning the Heisman. He deserved it and the Longhorns deserved better at the end of the season.
Last night was the first time I had actually watched the Heisman awards and it will probably be my last…
As Brown said, “it is what it is…” With that said, I look forward and welcome the Longhorns and fans to Phoenix (I’m a former Austinite now living in the Valley) and beating OSU!
well as usual again the sport writers in this country so how much they hate texas.or they are tired of listening to bob stoops wine.lol anyway we all know who the better quarterback is and will always know it. let us get ready for Ohio State and kick some B uckeye butt.
don't mean to start on a down note but...

The Heisman has become joke now. Just hand it to the quarterback on the team in the national title game with the best stats. When you have guys like Eric Crouch, Jason White, and Ron Dane win it in the last 10 years you know the award has become illegit. and ou seems to catching all the breaks. but we all know that ut and colt had a great season. here’s to hoping we can kick tosu’s ass and romp through ’09 with a national title and a heisman for colt.
zissou - December 13, 2008
funny...the Orange in my belly burns with hatred for the land-thiefs. to hell with them and their cheating.
texfan23 - December 13, 2008
what's most telling is...
that bradford’s heisman moment was the flip. Which was a stupid decision going for a touchdown that he didn’t even get on the flip. Also, remember that a wide receiver could take OU to a big12 championship so really what do his numbers really mean about him as an individual outstanding college football player?
OU grrr….
Longhorn@Berkeley - December 13, 2008
"The flip" was Sage Rosencopter esque
goingforthecorner - December 13, 2008
Dingdingdingdingding.
Yes it was. How has no one else (that I’ve seen) said this?
Sam is a good player but perhaps he might be able to continue propensity for flipping in a role similar to Sage’s in the near future.
hornalum08 - December 14, 2008
The only way this season gets any worse for Texas is...
OSU wins the Fiesta and OU wins the NCG. This board would be as empty as the highway between Odessa and El Paso.
imakefights - December 13, 2008
nah, because
we can sleep soundly knowing that at the end of the day, at least we’re not from oklahoma.
ctex80 - December 13, 2008
Yes you can.

WOW
Amazing that intead of enjoying your “local product” and his Heiman you actually took time to look that up—must be nothing better to do north of the Red River. Don’t see any links though that show the percentage of ou players that are from the state of Texas.
EyesOTexas - December 13, 2008
...
/not impressed.
Not even government workers look at the census on a Saturday night.
Go away troll. Do me a favor and blow your life savings wad on the most expensive Orange Bowl package you can find, and tell me how the experience was when you get back.
SuperBentley - December 13, 2008
I'm not impressed
As someone who recently just chose to go to UT over OU, I can tell you that it is insanely easy to get into OU. I didn’t even fill out the essays on the application, and I was still accepted the next day. So if that says anything about the quality of education OU provides, then your figures aren’t very impressive.
mrbubbles812 - December 14, 2008
oklahoma sucks
education-wise at the very least.
carsondude - December 14, 2008
go back to your worthless wasteland
or at least get a life. nobody cares what you have to say. David Tyree (comedian) had some funny stuff to say about ur state
acho81 - December 14, 2008
Seriously, folks
Caradoc - December 16, 2008
Perhaps, but we still own you
Not just this year, not just the last few years, but since the beginning of football.

PALonghorn - December 13, 2008
Lay off Billy Sims!
Billy Sims just got excited. He thought it was 1972 again. He just saw Greg Brady win the heisman. Greg’s mother, Carol, looked lonely. He was doing his mating call.
cmr3 - December 13, 2008
Fuck it.
TEXAS_FIGHT07 - December 13, 2008
We will see next season.
with four out of five offensive line graduating from OU. we should see just how well Bradford does when even mediocre teams will put pressure on him.
Xerxes - December 13, 2008
It's alright...
Katie McBeast - December 13, 2008
haha you ignorant horn
Florida State, you don’t even know who the Sooners are playing. And ya huge frauds…
TexaSucks - December 14, 2008
Who is Texa? nt
Meekrob - December 14, 2008
First time poster, just signed up.
Maybe PB will make it his last time.
whills - December 14, 2008
No I was just making fun of his stupid name.
Since, if you separate it at the capitals, which is the normal custom for camel case, it reads “Texa Sucks”.
Meekrob - December 14, 2008
This sucks
I live in Dallas. We are infested with land thieves. This entire month is gonna suck. Lets go heisman curse
acho81 - December 13, 2008
it's ok
Oklahoma just guaranteed they’d lose in the BCS championship game. can you say Heisman curse?
clra2 - December 13, 2008
It's rope-a-dope time.
’09 is the Time. Let there be no question.
whills - December 13, 2008
I don't care about the Heisman.
I’m content with having a QB with a 77% completion rate, 500 yards rushing, and a win over OU
acho81 - December 13, 2008
In a system that openly rewards bad sportsmanship,
what an honor it is to have men of integrity like Mack and Colt in our program. Whenever and whatever awards do come, they will have no taint, no question that they are 100% deserved. How good it is to be a Longhorn.
GeekHorn - December 13, 2008
Agree. This has been a great season and I appreciate and respect our honor.
Although part of me would love to beat ou 90-0 just to see the look on stoops’ face.
whills - December 13, 2008
Can't argue with that.
GeekHorn - December 13, 2008
Here's to hoping
If Bradford does go pro, and he would be stupid not to as he will almost certainly be one of the top players taken. There may be a little karma coming his way as Detroit will most certainly have the overall number one pick, as they are looking to be the first team to lose 16 games in a single season. It will be hard for him to turn down the money and if he gets stuck in the black hole that is the Lions i can’t help but feel as if he deserves that sort of hell on earth that is Detroit.
10isgod - December 14, 2008
no chance
there’s almost no chance bradford will go ahead of matt stafford…HOOK ’EM
buiyahkah - December 14, 2008
In summary,
point spread:
Heisman – 122
Sam Bradford (1726)
Colt McCoy (1604)
Coaches & Harris combined – 157
OU (4,181)
Texas (4,024)
The similarity is eerie.
Personally, I agree with legendary sports writer Blackie Sherrod when he resigned his Heisman voting privlege as soon as television sportscasters were invited into the panel. He was onto something and presumably way out front on this Heisman thing…..
We can all learn from that.
TXStampede - December 14, 2008
Short term memory...
Style points = bad sportsmanship
lauraj - December 14, 2008
