Since we were all a little distracted by the AJ Abrams upstaging the first time around, today marks another opportunity to say goodbye to one of the all-time Texas greats, DJ Augustin. He made his jump to the pros official today by hiring an agent.
Many thanks for two amazing seasons, DJ. You won't soon be forgotten.

peculiar
Did anyone else read the interview with DJ? If so, did it strike anyone else as odd that according to the interview, DJ hasn’t really talked to AJ at all? Is there a rift there, or is it probably something as simple as both guys being too geared up with NBA possibilities and workouts to actually find time to touch base? Clearly DJ is talking to Kevin and TJ Ford, it just strikes me as weird that he hasn’t talked to AJ recently.

Obviously it's because AJ is on some other planet.

lol
Seriously. DJ talks to big-time NBA talent, not pipe-dreamers who are making no sense and not focusing on cementing his legacy as one of the all-time great Horns and college shooters and scorers. AJ can be a 2000+ pt scorer, be in the UT record books for years, and have potentially as many as 3 Elite 8 (and hopefully final four next year!) appearances. Oh well, everyone has the right to explore their options. Some just do it more wisely than others I guess.
Anyway, sorry DJ. This is your thread. Gl in the Pros. I’d be less understanding if not for Katrina. He may not benefit tons from another year, but the team could have been special, and he would have been the captain of that ship and a legend for years if the 2008 squad would have done what was capable of them had everyone returned – win a Championship.

One more year wouldn't have hurt
Selfishly, this really sucks. But a man has to do, what a man has to do.

Augustin
I love the “stories from around SBN” feature on the right taskbar. It links you up to stories that are similar to the one you’re reading.
Anyway, here’s one from
Ridiculous Upside.
After seeing some pre-declaring mocks with him going in the mid 20’s, I was beginning to wonder if DJ jumping was the right decision. But it seems he’s firmly settled down into the 2nd (or at worst 3rd) position behind Rose, and should be a solid top-15 pick. So congrats, DJ. Make us proud in the Association.

*Sigh*
It’s always fun to think “what if”...But nonetheless, I love DJ and wish him all the best in his endeavors. So, onwards and upwards…
