It took another dose of Screaming Lady halftime magic, but Texas wins again -- tonight, a 38-14 victory over the visiting Colorado Buffaloes. We'll dive into the details in "Postgame React" later tonight; in the meantime, this is your 5-0 celebration thread.

I will need a strong prescription

I am shattered.

No OU sucks?
JohnsonUT - October 10, 2009
yay?
acho81 - October 10, 2009
Its 944pm
and OU still sucks
jcbates - October 10, 2009
Well....
Our D was awesome tonight after the first Q or so. Next week the kids will have a whole new miindset. OU coimng does that.
HornsFan87 - October 10, 2009
I got a fever
and the only cure is more Achos
acho81 - October 10, 2009
I think it's ironic
That both the OU and UT fanbases are worried about their performance today in the face of next week’s showdown. Except we’re not really worried about our D.
TheElusiveShadow - October 10, 2009
Partially the neuroses are caused by expectations of Colt which range from comical to tragic
There will be some meltdowns this week amongst our fan base.
learned hand - October 10, 2009
Defense and special teams wins championships
There’s a reason OU didn’t win last year, besides that OU sucks.
When you look at Florida and Alabama this year, you aren’t going to beat them 34-24. That’s going to be a 20-17 or 13-10 game.
The Defense has given up 190 yards combined the last 2 weeks. The special teams, crappy punter play notwithstanding, has a blocked punt for touchdown, 2 TD returns, and 2 punt returns.
I’ll take my chances if Colt McCoy and the offense (read: GD) are the weak link.
jtlonghorn - October 10, 2009
Coincidentally
If my quick calculations are correct, the top 3 defenses by YPG allowed tomorrow will be:
1. Florida
2. Alabama
3. Texas

All I see is a Sooner I want to kill !!
Movie quote… anyone guess which one? Minus the “Sooner” part btw.
HornsFan87 - October 10, 2009
Dune
Sadly, I didn’t even have to Google it…
WanderingHorn - October 10, 2009
Good for you!! Correct. It's actually a great line.
HornsFan87 - October 11, 2009
Its 445am here in Germany
And OU still sucks, but i cant celebrate this win. I woke up early in the morning to see the Horns embarrass Colorado and instead, we were down at halftime. The RRS will be my cure.
texasboi01 - October 10, 2009
LSU is dumb, dumb, dumb.
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
looks like Florida #1
and
Texas stays at #2,
I can live with that!!!
jcbates - October 10, 2009
would not be surprised at all
if Alabama jumps us
7Swords of Salat - October 10, 2009
Fail, LSU
Really dumb play.
TheElusiveShadow - October 10, 2009
LSU is not being dumb
Les Miles is….
jcbates - October 10, 2009
Colorado sucks
but sucking does not seem to prevent a team from giving us a challenge. I trust Coaches Brown and Muschamp will have us prepared to overcome another challenge from a team that obviously sucks. Hook ’em forever!
bfaut86 - October 10, 2009
u know...
Colorado played a hell of a game. You can’t blame everything on the Horns.
acho81 - October 10, 2009
I completely agree
They came prepared and executed for 27 minutes.
Mulliganville - October 10, 2009
who cares
toledo
315 yards rushing, 307 through the air
toledo
colorado < KSU < SMU < UTEP
greenspointexas - October 11, 2009
Wow
Huge mistake by Tebow.
TheElusiveShadow - October 10, 2009
Tebow
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
Shipley
I’m starting to think Shipley should be our Heisman candidate. At least right up there with McCoy.
mattyj - October 10, 2009
Arrogant call too
By Meyer.
TheElusiveShadow - October 10, 2009
Watch LSU win this
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
Surely a team can't be THAT lucky
TheElusiveShadow - October 10, 2009
Well ya never know ES. That's why they play the game. Did I just say that? Ugh.
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
Zero chance LSU wins. 50/50 they cover
learned hand - October 10, 2009
Apparently Learned Hand is Nostradamus. Thanks for the tip.
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
Watched every LSU game for the last 4 years.
I feel pretty confident I know Les Miles limitations
learned hand - October 10, 2009
Well I'd say that damn near makes you an expert.
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
That thing I was saying.
learned hand - October 10, 2009
Sorry ass Tigers
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
biggest limitation is these are his recruiting classes now. Saban's MNC that he gravytrained and was gifted by the BCS.
Mulliganville - October 10, 2009
I have to disagree
LSU has a lot of talent. Many of the players on this LSU are as good or better than what UT is lining up in the same position. However, they haven’t had a reliable QB since Flynn. That won’t work against Florida.
learned hand - October 10, 2009
Order a round for
Learned Hand.
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
We stay #2 if voters not genetically related to Greg Davis watched the game.
utexex - October 10, 2009
And that’s the opposite of what I was tryiing to say.
utexex - October 10, 2009
I am going to show up for work this week at the University of Toledo
Guess what I am going to be hearing?
Ohio Horn - October 10, 2009
hearing?
Probably compliments on your UT gear
laxtonto - October 10, 2009
Don't worry about it. They're still the Rockets and play in a 30k seat stadium. That was their
one shining moment.
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
their bowl game...like this was CO's bowl game.
Mulliganville - October 10, 2009
Thanks. That helps a little
Ohio Horn - October 10, 2009
The significant factor is that we are 2 and OSU is somewhere behind us in the polls
Ohio Horn - October 10, 2009
WAY BEHIND
Mulliganville - October 10, 2009
That had to be one of the most boring
and lame last minute dries ever. Nice, LSU.
TheElusiveShadow - October 10, 2009
they are overrated...
give the stadium 4 points…and FL is a bit overrated in my opinion as well. Should be Bama 1, Horns 2, FL 3…Im just sayin
Mulliganville - October 10, 2009
Even after the Texas performance tonight?
blazzinken - October 10, 2009
Yeah.
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
I need to see Texas play a good team well before I can give them the number 2 ranking
And we are going to need to run the ball to where a defense can actually bite on it.
blazzinken - October 10, 2009
We've given up ......
…… 75 points playing 5 crappy teams. The Gators have given up 32 points playing quality teams.
The way things are going in the Big-XII, OU may be the only ranked opponent we play in the regular season.
HornChamps - October 11, 2009
quality teams?
i wouldn’t necessarily call charlseton southern and troy quality teams. they only account for 9 of those 32 points though. but i do agree i am a bit disappointed about the 75 points we’ve given up. after today’s game defense seems to be our strong suit
greenman - October 11, 2009
Conveniently.....
…. forget to mention Tennessee, Kentucky and #4 LSU?
HornChamps - October 11, 2009
I don't think he forgot
They just weren’t germane to the argument. He was pointing out that two of the teams that Florida has played were not quality, the other three teams are not in question.
Wells - October 11, 2009
Sure they are.
A schedule is a body of work, not some arbitrary line drawn in a MSNBC manner.
HornChamps - October 11, 2009
A schedule can be what ever the hell you say
but he was not talking about the schedule, he was just making a point that had nothing to do with those three teams.
Wells - October 13, 2009
Prior to his interruption....
…. we were discussing the entire schedule.
Nice try though.
HornChamps - October 13, 2009
I love that Sonic jackass guy
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
Yeah...
I thought the C Fence commercial tonight was pretty funny.
The Immortal Iron Fist AKA AFB - October 10, 2009
The helmet commercial is hilarious.
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
Haha yeah...
The Immortal Iron Fist AKA AFB - October 10, 2009
Top 3 teams have the best D's...shocking.
Mulliganville - October 10, 2009
OU SUCKS!
Sunkist - October 10, 2009
I know this much....
3rd and short.. I don’t want to see a freaking run out of the shotgun again.
I’m not against running out of the shotgun, just the Longhorns running out of it on short yardage distances. If we’re going to do that I’d rather see a freaking end around or something honestly, at least that way I can see someone different being tackled for a loss.
The Immortal Iron Fist AKA AFB - October 10, 2009
I agree
I would also like to add that I hate Cody Johnson running the Zone read, give it to him from the I.
blazzinken - October 10, 2009
because it worked so well in the first half?
Wells - October 10, 2009
Especially....
With a 240 pound RB running lateral to the line of scrimmage? CU had the Wildhorn dialed in. I say trash it unless you have a play to take a shot downfield wiht Chiles throwing to a wide open TE?
orangetower - October 10, 2009
It's 11:14 EST
and OU still sucks.
My question is where the heck was Tre Newton tonight? Or anyone else besides Vondrell? I mean, I am a sentimental fan of Vondrell, but after a half of ineffective running (and run blocking in his defense) why not try a new “flavor”?
hoogs - October 10, 2009
Where was Monroe also?
cj43 - October 10, 2009
Amen to that!
I hear….. he has set school records for the season and his career…. in just 4 games.
HornChamps - October 11, 2009
Just saw on the injury report that Newton had a "slight concussion"
crackaTX - October 11, 2009
Where was GD's head?
orangetower - October 10, 2009
It's like he thought this was 2008 roster..
cj43 - October 10, 2009
Well UTEP blew it...again
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
Urgshher, whatever, its a win
Considering the amount of GREAT plays in the second half with so few coming from the offense, this game makes me optimistic for our best.
The Earl Thomas touchdown was the most exciting play I’ve seen this year. An 80+ yard pick six, how long since that?
Granted, I haven’t seen every game.
The crazy thing is that Colt can play better and he was still 32 of 39.
OU FUCKING SUCKS! If Bradford is as much of a coward as I think; he’ll fake an injury. What a pussy. He should be terrified of Acho and Kendall.
Hook ’em!
What? Oh, yeah, it’s 9:26, and, yeah that’s right, OU still sucks.
jimmer - October 10, 2009
The Fox Sports guys
are picking OU now.
LonghornLostinLA - October 10, 2009
perfect...we need some locker rooom material
Mulliganville - October 10, 2009
it is not like OU just pasted Baylor with their second string in
Mulliganville - October 10, 2009
lets face it...each team today could have played better.
everyone was expecting 56-9 from texas…it did not happen. stats are for losers…i like winning games.
Mulliganville - October 10, 2009
NO more looking ahead to OU. Let's look directly at OU
Ohio Horn - October 10, 2009
Now that I think about it...
if we play horribly by our standards and walk away with a 38-14 with both TD’s for the opposition based on Turnovers, I am OK with that. 32 of 39 for colt.
Mulliganville - October 10, 2009
Yeah...
that’s kind of how I see it.
Did the offense play great? Nope.
But coming off a bye week and looking ahead a week… I’ll take a 28 point win.
I also thought that Texas was pretty vanilla on offense for the most part.
The Immortal Iron Fist AKA AFB - October 10, 2009
to play like shit and win by four touchdowns?
it sucks to be us sometimes. beat ou (sucks)!
zissou - October 10, 2009
correction
three touchdowns and a field goal…the beer got the better of the math skills, but ou still sucks.
zissou - October 10, 2009
yep
24 points my bad
The Immortal Iron Fist AKA AFB - October 11, 2009
with his INT coming from a tipped ball. out of his 6 picks this year, 3 of them have come off of tipped balls.
jde03b - October 10, 2009
I guess I'll give Ship a pass for that...
considering he pretty much wrecked house the rest of the night.
The Immortal Iron Fist AKA AFB - October 10, 2009
Yeah I like that too.
HornsFan87 - October 11, 2009
if anyones cares
UW is playing Arizona.. justin.tv online streaming here
Hook'em13 - October 10, 2009
Colt's Legs
He needs to use them. I’m not saying he has to go crazy running like last year, but part of why he was so effective was because of the threat of his speed. He’s holding the ball this year on plays where he’d have scrambled in the past. I’m sure this is because he’s trying to stay healthy and I love that. But at the end of the day, we need to win games and with our offense looking like a big ? on a weekly basis, he needs to start to take over at least a little more frequently. Maybe I’m taking crazy pills…
hoogs - October 10, 2009
Agreed
Last year if I recall at the RRS, Colt made a few nice long runs, and was a part of the reason drives were so long. Gassed OU’s defense OUt by the 4th.
Ese-De-SA - October 11, 2009
Fuck it. We won.
The sun will rise tomorrow and at the very least we will still control our own destiny.
G’Night fellas.
the1austin - October 10, 2009
I forgot. It's 11:56 p.m. and .....
the1austin - October 10, 2009
OU still sucks...
utexas87 - October 11, 2009
lame play calling...
im hoping that GD was keeping the less conservative plays for ou, i just dont understand why we didnt use the i-formation, or single back playaction all night? hopefully we bring out all the funk next saturday…we better if we wanna win!!
OkcityHornFan - October 11, 2009 via mobile
Nice win...or not?
Nice win over a relatively poor team that stuffed the Texas running game like it was a Greg Davis prayer with nowhere to happen.
OU is not a relatively poor team, and it would amaze me to see us win.
utexex - October 11, 2009
amaze?
because Baylor is a beast?
