You may not have noticed but Texas had some trouble running the football against a stout Colorado defense. It's not good news, therefore, that two of the Horns' top running backs got hurt against Colorado. Tre Newton suffered a mild concussion and Vondrell McGee hurt his left shoulder. The result: Fozzy Whittaker listed as the starter at RB ahead of Cody Johnson and DJ Monroe on the depth chart. Both Newton and McGee are reportedly day to day and there's no word on if either will play against Oklahoma. Other than that there's nothing new to report on the UT side of the injury report prior to the biggest week of the year.
The Land Thieves, however, have been ravaged by injuries this season. Sam Bradford threw the ball 49 times against Baylor, showing no signs of a bum shoulder although he was also only sacked once by Baylor. Starting safety Quinton Carter has a leg injury but he will probably play against Texas. Starting guard Brian Simmons injured his knee against Baylor, no word on whether he'll play against Texas. The biggest question mark of the week though is whether starting WR Ryan Broyles (7 TDs) will play just two weeks after fracturing his shoulder.
No word how Bradford's shoulder will respond to a hit like this

I was at the OU-Baylor Game
and the one sack Baylor was credited for was actually no sack at all. Bradford saw a potential sack coming and dropped to the ground in the fetal position to avoid being hit. He wanted NO part of being hit. If Kindle or Acho hit him like Bomar was hit in the video, I think he won’t get up. It was obvious Bradford wanted no part of any contact all day long.

It’d be hilarious to see Bradford dropping to the turf on every play where we get into the backfield.

Looks like that line is on the way up.
Started at 3 and imagine it will only grow as people see this as an easy opportunity to get paid.
For evidence of this look at this past weekends game between #3 Alabama and #20 Ole Miss as the Tide was a 5 point favorite on the road. And now we got another matchup between the #3 team and #20 team and this one is on a neutral field.

If Bradford is scared of contact...
…that’s going to seriously limited his effectiveness. The game that made me respect the guy was OU-OSU and how he just took everything like a Tebow-lite. He might just throw those balls faster than he wants when Kindle and company are bearing down on him. It might be worth it for Muschamp to see how much the kid is willing to take in the early going, risk a score or two on a series of all-out blitz to test his mettle.

I hope Muschamp has his team ready for receiver and rb screens...
cause they are coming for sure. They will want to provide easy throws for bradford that enables him to get rid of the ball quickly and I expect we could see at least a third of his passes be those screens they love to run against Texas so much.

i suspect ou will do all they can to slow down the pass rush—particularly if bradford is leery of contact—so i would expect a lot of screens.

Roderick Wright scampering for the score is great
His parents are two of the nicest folks I have met. On the way home for the Ohio State game we were all stuck at the airport. We were waiting on a tire to be delivered for our plane (no lie) which they had to fly in because the plane back to Houston/Austin was bigger than the normal plane at Columbus. Continental ended up brining in pizza and cokes for all of us waiting on the long delay. The Wrights were across from me and we started chatting about the game etc, and they told me Rod was their son. They were just super cool and nice. I took photos with them and everything. Too bad that his NFL career didn’t take off but at least he had a few years.

post game interview
One of my favorite moments of Rod’s play on Bomar was the post game interview with RW—He must have called Rhett Bomar “Brett Bomar” three or four times in the interview. Kid gets layed out and still, no one knows his name. That was truly one of my favorite plays from the NC season!

Read an AP article that said Stoops has ruled him out for the Texas game…..Must be really hurt for Stoops not to rush him back early, as thin as they are on the o-line.
I suspect Broyles will get a different fate and probably get thrust back into action too early and get smashed by our tenacious D. (Jack Black anyone? haha)
