The first big game of the North Division kicks off in 10 minutes on ESPN. Interesting match up featuring two first-year quarterbacks and what looks like a hell of a lot of rain. Could be a sloppy one.
Comments here, if you please.

Is there a radio station streaming this online that anybody knows of?
KWashburn - October 8, 2009
This Holtz-May clown show is unwatchable
Peter Bean - October 8, 2009
Game doesn't start till 8pm CST it looks like.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Vaccaro
The AAS says he will miss the game because of a knee injury. I must have missed that?
dimecoverage - October 8, 2009
This isn’t Nebraska-Missouri related but I’m doing BDR as I type and there it was.
dimecoverage - October 8, 2009
Yeah, saw that a day or so ago.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Not sure where..Maybe barried in the Vacarro warrant thread.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Blackshirts
Nebraska blackshirts = Aggie wrecking crew. Enough.
dimecoverage - October 8, 2009
Bowden
Espn refuses to ackknowledge the real reason pressure has been exerted on bowden. They spend 10 minutes defending him and what he did last decade and they made it an age issue. Well here is a thought….maybe he’s taking heat because, I don’t know…he has not won in a decade!
Something tells me they would care that he’s 80 if he’s still winning like Paterno. And no mark may, he’s not bigger than the program. Yes he built it and yes he deserves his statue but he should also admit he’s damaging the very thing he built by staying AND NOT WINNING.
UT2001 - October 8, 2009 via mobile
Wow. Gabbert on a zone read keeper? More mobile than I thought.
sessamoid - October 8, 2009
Hopefully he doesn't self destruct like Chase in big games.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Uh. Yuk. Rainy days and Thursdays always get me down -- nt
edsp - October 8, 2009
Just checked the weather for Columbia
already had 4-6 inches
Xerxes - October 8, 2009
Not sure we're gonna learn too much about these teams in this weather
Peter Bean - October 8, 2009
Agree
This ain’t gonna help the conference perception either.
UT2001 - October 8, 2009 via mobile
right about that
Like Mack says, survive and move on.
edsp - October 8, 2009
Gabbert under duress? We can learn a few things.
dimecoverage - October 8, 2009
cards just gagged away Game 2 of their playoff series to Dodgers
Two runs with two outs in the last of the ninth. 3-2.
edsp - October 8, 2009
Well, we are seeing how good Suh is
But we knew that coming in
Peter Bean - October 8, 2009
my ankle hurts after seeing that tackle
burrito - October 8, 2009
Wow. He doesn’t stop. Gotta love a defensive player like that.
dimecoverage - October 8, 2009
Twisted ankle there for Gabbert. Got it sat on by the tackler.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Looks like we got a punt fest tonight if this keeps up..
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Erin looks good in the rain
SelimSivad - October 8, 2009
That's a given...Never seen her look bad.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
off-topic: i noticed the ufl started up tonight
no longhorns thankfully but a handful of sooners are playing for their mobile home payment including teddy lehman.
burrito - October 8, 2009
Dumb play by the Nebraska special teams.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
I'll give it to him
Blaine has a cannon. Not Mallet-like, but strong none the less
kriess - October 8, 2009
A ST gift from Nebraska
but Mizz kills themself with penalties and drive stalls. 0-0, start of 2nd quarter. Its great getting to watch the best Defense in College Football—Rain.
kriess - October 8, 2009
Both teams going backwards
it will interesting to see the yardage for the 1st quarter
Xerxes - October 8, 2009
I'm rooting for Nebraska
I don’t want to play Mizzou twice this year
notsofst - October 8, 2009
We dont play the Corn this year
We should be pulling for Mizzou for SOS, but of course who you choose to root for is your own perogative.
Me personally i’m rooting for Mizz, because I’m a fan of Sean Witherspoon. GREAT kid
Safety Mizz. MU 2 – NU 0
kriess - October 8, 2009
I want to play Nebraska for the title
it would be a better game to go to
notsofst - October 8, 2009
Mizzou is use to getting beat twice by a team though...
They have no problem getting their butt kicked multiple times.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Wow
Pelini just Bob Stoops’d his long snapper. Cant blame him though. That was the 2nd poor snap on a punt.
Nebraska Special Teams has been abysmal tonite.
kriess - October 8, 2009
Add another poor job by the NEB's special teams.
Got lucky though and retained possession.
kriess - October 8, 2009
helmets falling off
why don’t the coaches make the players wear their helmets with sufficient tightness to prevent helmets flying all over the field? This problem appears to be getting worse
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
I realize the Mizzou o-line is dealing with some extreme weather conditions, but they don’t look too good, period. Gabbert may be in a couple of very long games…especially Texas.
dimecoverage - October 8, 2009
I would hope so
But still Washington seems to find some decent lanes to run in. Of course we handled him well last year. Suh is sick.
kriess - October 8, 2009
Gabbert isn't looking that good on that leg
He’s hurting.
notsofst - October 8, 2009
Neither team
eclipsed past 50 total yards on offense in the first quarter. The rain is a beast.
kriess - October 8, 2009
Anyone know what playing surface they're on?
Is it going to be mud by the 4th?
notsofst - October 8, 2009
Artificial grass like what we have.
It’ll be fine.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Too bad.
notsofst - October 8, 2009
OOOOHHHH!
What a hit! Simmons just destroyed that Neb RB
kriess - October 8, 2009
team colored star wars characters in the stands
saw a Mizzou colored storm trooper in the stands. The other week I saw a white darth vader at happy valley. We need a burnt orange yoda in our stands
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
When we're there in a few weeks
We’ll have 11 storm troopers on the field.
kriess - October 8, 2009
craig james' definition of lying
making a decision to say “no”
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
He's trying to cover something up...
He’ll probably end up destroying that program like Hart Lee Dykes.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Craig James's reaction
“He was drivin’ a Porsche? WTF? Why didn’t I get a Porsche?”
sessamoid - October 8, 2009
We got a first down!!...lol
cj43 - October 8, 2009
You can always tell when you're watching Big 12 North football
Is has a particular feel to it.
Peter Bean - October 8, 2009
Has the Big10 feel tonight.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Like the Annual Indiana-Minny Soda slap fight?
kriess - October 8, 2009
I don't think I have ever seen those two teams play eachother...
probably a good thing..lol..
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Mizz fans wearing the floatation devices
Awesome
kriess - October 8, 2009
What the hell
I go outside to get some fresh air and Nebraska was drivingn when I left. What happened?
kriess - October 8, 2009
Another Nebraska punt.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
This game should safely drive down any ratings Thursday night football was getting.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
UFL and Versus executive are giving each other high fives right now. nt
kriess - October 8, 2009
Nebraska needs to start walking away from those punts....
seriously
notsofst - October 8, 2009
They tried that. The punt found the ankle of one of their players anyway.
sessamoid - October 8, 2009
By the way
Anyone watching the UFL….are both teams wearing the same uni’s?
kriess - October 8, 2009
NEB
1st team to eclipse 100 total yards.
kriess - October 8, 2009
Mizz has a chance
great return but negated by penatly. 48 secs left in 1st half.
kriess - October 8, 2009
What happened to the Mizzou QB?
Just tuned in and he looks like he’s limping. Nice throw, though.
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
He got his ankle twisted under Suh
during a scramble / sack
notsofst - October 8, 2009
Ouch.
that’s not good. He’s a good scrambler, depends on it. I saw him playing Nevada and he kept getting away and nailing receivers.
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
Tough tackle by Suh
Wrapped his ankle under the 300+ lb NT
kriess - October 8, 2009
Just started watching
Gabbert looks like he can’t plant on his right leg at all.
JYarbs - October 8, 2009
Man 2-0. Wow.
No wonder the O/U kept going down all day…
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
Wow, Thanks, Jesse.
“They just need points, period.” Moron.
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
palmer just speakin' bibles full of truth tonight
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
Sounds like Madden.
“The one who scores the most wins!”
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
Suh is a stud but I wonder if he's big enough to play inside in the NFL
JYarbs - October 8, 2009
Go for it here?
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Not in this weather.
Field goals might win this.
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
Can the kicker plant and kick in this weather reliably?
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Mizz prolly going to settle for FG
Most likely to go up 5-0 at half. What a great Big 12 score.
kriess - October 8, 2009
I retract my previous statement. nt
kriess - October 8, 2009
TD Mizz
kriess - October 8, 2009
Wow. Risky call.
But it worked out for him. I wouldn’t have done that.
sessamoid - October 8, 2009
oooh
knee looked down
kriess - October 8, 2009
I don't think the ball was across the plane when his knee went down.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Only the tip of the ball had to be even with the front of the end zone...
I think he got it.
JYarbs - October 8, 2009
He would have gotten that easy if not for the gimpy leg.
Risky as hell call.
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
ESPN
Why aren’t they showing a slow mo replay from the side again?
JohnsonUT - October 8, 2009
Confirmed TD
kriess - October 8, 2009
Woot!
I got Mizzou straight up. Niiiiiice.
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
Seriously Erin Andrews is so hot
But that voice is so grating.
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
Game Over...
I don’t think Nebraska can score 9 points in the 2nd half.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
This.
That TD was huge.
notsofst - October 8, 2009
maybe if it stops raining the game will pick up
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
A higher-ranked Mizzou is good for us, right?
We play them soon this year, am I right?
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
2 weeks
kriess - October 8, 2009
Wow
Lee: 8-21 for 76 yards
Gabbert: 12-23 for 107 yards.
Tough game offensively. Rain shutting the passing game down.
kriess - October 8, 2009
can't wait to see what dr. lou is going to say!
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
LSU is crying right now.
Like the Madden curse, if Doctor Lou gives you the pep talk, you’re almost guaranteed to lose.
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
Have a few paper towels handy
Wipe off the slobber from your Tv screen.
kriess - October 8, 2009
Lou is a fucking moron. Of course you change the game plan. After a bad concussion like that one, he’s much more prone to further brain injury for quite a while.
Changing to a running game less dependent on the FB-in-a-QB body also makes the transition to Brantley easier if Tebow is lost for the year.
sessamoid - October 8, 2009
If Teebow can't run, no use putting him back there.
Brantley has the better arm.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
when colt got concussed in 2007
during the A&M game, do I remember correctly that we weren’t sure if he would even play in the bowl game which was a full month after that? I think Tebow and Urb both know he isn’t playing against LSU.
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
Jesus will find a way to play.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
rain games.
Somebody with a sharp memory: When was the last time Horns played in weather like this? Not counting Iowa State (2006, I think) and C. Florida in 2007, when there were long weather/lightning delays.
edsp - October 8, 2009
Wasnt it Mizzou in like 1998?
at home? Cant remember that well. Crown is getting to me. Shot for every inept offensive play = fun
kriess - October 8, 2009
Mizzou at DKR in 1996. 1st Big XII game in a monsoon and fans rushed the field and slid all over it...
1st Big XII game in a monsoon and fans rushed the field and slid all over it…
longhorn35 - October 9, 2009
Fumble by NEB
Mizz ball. Shot
kriess - October 8, 2009
I don't think Nebraska could play worse if they tried.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Seriously
Your feed is like 2 mins ahead of mine, I need to stop reading this thread.
notsofst - October 8, 2009
You watching it on ESPN or off a internet stream?
cj43 - October 8, 2009
espn 360
It tends to be slow
notsofst - October 8, 2009
It's all about the homefield in these weekday games.
Then you add in the weather? Forget about it. Just no reason for the visitors to even play.
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
So maybe Virginia Tech
ain’t all that. Nebraska played them even on the road. And Nebraska looks like dog crap.
sessamoid - October 8, 2009
White guy named Compton for Nebraska
Allsome
kriess - October 8, 2009
Missed FG for Mizz
Shot
kriess - October 8, 2009
Virginia Tech
is not that great. ACC is not that great.
edsp - October 8, 2009
9 points should be good enough.
They’re going to run all day anyway, both teams. Each possession is going to take 3-4 minutes each.
iamjackburton - October 8, 2009
That penalty is bullshit
Kept his head up through the whole tackle.
sessamoid - October 8, 2009
Looked like a perfect form tackle to me too. That rule sucks.
It should only be if you lead with the helmet. They need to change that rule.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Nebraska should just do a hell mary every play...
Just throw it 50 years up for grabs. If its intercepted then its like a punt. If you catch it, you actually have a chance to score.
cj43 - October 8, 2009
s/years/yards
cj43 - October 8, 2009
Lee completing less than 33%
8-25.
kriess - October 8, 2009
nice roll on that kick
at this rate, even the punters are probably getting winded
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
I gotta stop taking shots for every poor play
I have to work early in the morning. Shots of water from now on. My God, this is such an abortion of a game.
kriess - October 8, 2009
Mizz still not at 200 yards total
ALOT of flags in this game. Refs calling holding like the SEC.
kriess - October 8, 2009
FG good for Mizzou
12-0 Tiggers
kriess - October 8, 2009
haha nebraska still only down by 2 scores
they are gonna win this game, mark it dude
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
here it comes
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
I hope something changes this score quickly.
Bad memories of another poorly played game on the offensive side of the ball.
kriess - October 8, 2009
I think it's about to change
that dude Suh at it again
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
Wow
TD Huskers. 56 yard pass from Lee.
kriess - October 8, 2009
Nebraska's snaps are terrible
a bad snap almost ruined the extra point
notsofst - October 8, 2009
Suh picks off Gabbert
Corn on the move.
kriess - October 8, 2009
That pick was great
Suh’s on fire
notsofst - October 8, 2009
holy crap!
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
TD Corn
Nebrasky has lead.
Good call Longhorn_dan
kriess - October 8, 2009
thanks. OK, that 2-pt try was just stupid...
Especially with 13 minutes left.
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
I think it was fine before the penalty
but once you’re 10 yards away, I’d take the point.
notsofst - October 8, 2009
Aight, I'm crashing
This game is too much for me. AMF!
kriess - October 8, 2009
uh-oh
mizzou imploding!
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
I'm glad I stuck around....
around 3 mins ago, I was contemplating going to bed.
notsofst - October 8, 2009
2-pt tries too early, happens alot
if nebraska would’ve taken the extra point on their last touchdown, they’d be up by 2 scores. Since they didn’t now they’re only up by one.
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
I can sympathize though
they probably thought they wouldn’t score again
notsofst - October 8, 2009
true,
given the conditions of the game it may have been a wise call. But like you said, not from 10 yards out!
Let’s see if the Mizz has a comeback in them
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
That wasn't a horse collar
that was the jersey, doesn’t it have to be pads?
notsofst - October 8, 2009
yeah, that was a weak call
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
Mizzou appears to have over 150 run-to-the-sidelines plays
krelldoggy - October 8, 2009
As well as a multitude of throw-out-of-bounds options
krelldoggy - October 8, 2009
haha
earlier tonight they were showcasing their ‘lose a fumble’ and ‘throw an interception’ packages. Guaranteed to keep defenders off guard.
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
wow, gabbert is ambidextrous
4th and 20. could be the game here
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
I have never seen so many holding calls in my life
Texas Wahoo - October 8, 2009
These are two bad teams...
krelldoggy - October 8, 2009
I guess the weather is some sort of excuse...
krelldoggy - October 8, 2009
I think it has more to do with Gabbert's ankle.
Texas Wahoo - October 8, 2009
Disagree
Texas Wahoo - October 8, 2009
Burkhead looks like a player
I guess we knew that.
krelldoggy - October 8, 2009
turn out the lights...
man this turned out to be one hell of a game!
longhorn_dan - October 8, 2009
Glub Glub
I hear the bad weather is headed south.
