Glad to see Briles hanging his head.

Take that, bitch!

So, somebody who watched the whole thing

(I saw the first half, then bits and pieces) — did I miss anything? Injuries? Saw Eddie Jones’ play on a highlight.

Thanks

Time to hunt some Jayhawks

Everything looked good

No injuries that I saw. Ship had the wind knocked out of him, but was back in the next play or so.

Only problem was offense getting snuffed in the second half, and the second string defense giving up points in the 4th.

Hook 'em!

Now let’s see some meltdown. Oh wait, if I have to listen to Papadakis call a Trojans game, I’ll be the one melting down.

‘Honey, where’s the remote?"

He was just
Knowing that guy can get a job as an announcer lets me know that I can always make a successful career change whenever I please.
Congrats to Colt. Tied for winningest QB.
Curiously disappointing

I hate to say it, especially when I know the big picture is still great, but what a disappointing second half, and unsatisfying finish. Stats aside, the Longhorns and the defense in particular had a game that would have possibly turned heads and garnered a bit of respect, which Texas does still need from voters. Not now … turning down the throttle is one thing – going brain dead is another. What a blown second half.

While I'm disappointed too

It did feature mostly backups. I would think the backups would normally have no problem moving the ball against a defense that was on its heels all day, but Gilbert’s obviously not ready yet. He needs another spring, especially one as the top QB.

Gilbert looked fine

His receivers dropped 3 passes.

His blockers were a sieve . . .

I was extremely impressed by Gilbert’s escapability. Not so by what made him have to do it, and his passes — when they weren’t dropped — were forced into coverage or thrown off target. Game gets different when the outcome is out of doubt.

I don't think you can blame that on Gilbert...

The offensive play calling was pretty conservative since we were up by 40. He was put in alot of 3rd and long situations and most of the passes he was called to throw were screens. He had a couple drops by the receivers and the 2nd team oline looked terrible. Gilbert showed some good pocket presence by avoiding the rush and getting a few throws off. The receivers aren’t use to the zip Gilbert puts on the ball. The future is really bright.

That's what I mean

He put the ball slightly off-target, but the bigger problem from his end was the touch. He threw the ball a lot harder than he should have in each case. It’s not up to the receivers to be used to the zip, but they also did drop balls they should’ve caught.

There’s plenty of blame to go around.

They Better Get Used to Zippy

I really don’t think it’s Gilbert who needs to adjust here. Buckner made a couple of finger tip catches and tried the same thing with a slightly low pass from Gilbert. He could hvave just sat down and caught the ball for a first down on 3rd and 8, but he was trying to yac. There’s timing issues with Gilbert and the receivers no doubt, but it’s not all on Gilbert. I honestly disagree with GD & Mack’s handling of Gilbert to this point.

Do we really need anything from voters at this point?

As long as we win, and have big wins over inferior opponents (which are all we have left until the CG), I can’t see us not making it to Pasadena. Good for Mack for giving the second teams some playing time, resting the starters to play another day, and not running up the score a la Stoops & Co. last year.

With TCU and Cinci still unbeaten, I just don’t feel comfortable in taking the voters for granted.

As pointed out though, it was the second unit playing. Otherwise, I’d be in shock right now.

Just a *little* picky?

They just beat a team 47-14 and you’re dissapointed?

I'm cheering for Utah tonight

and Pitt next week just in case. Last year just made me paranoid, even if we are unbeaten this year.

I am a little disappointed. It was a superb first half and a completely uninspiring second half. A brilliant defensive game was turned into an average “so what” for people reading the boxscores. Giving voters and non-Texas fans any opening to question the team’s toughness or resolve doesn’t seem to be a good idea. I’m fine with not having run the score up on them, but letting them get two easy scores is something I doubt the first team defense is thrilled with right now.

Yeah I wanted a shutout...

but even if you are just looking at the boxscore that’s pretty impressive.

I hope so! I’ve been thinking it over – I love the ‘Horns, I’m thrilled to be 10-0, I don’t want anyone fired … I think I figured it out though.

I live in North Florida – prime Gator and Tide country. No one here is much impressed with Texas. So yeah, I wanted the shutout, I wanted a big statement. However, I’d be very happy watching Texas make it in person to either team in the Rose Bowl.

I think it's more about Heisman voters than poll voters
1st half

when you play the first half as well as they did and have a 40-0 lead, at that point you just want to hold serve and nat have a bad injury. Baylor didn’t give up and played til the end.

GG

Are you kidding? Did you watch the game? I think GG did great. The WR’s let him down again. The last time he actually got to play his WR’s dropped a lot of balls. Texas is rolling!

I think he showed an ability to escape

But not a whole lot others. Not much touch on the passes.

Hook 'em

on the Bevo’s Daily Roundup post yesterday I predicted the score for today’s game to be 45-10. only if Baylor kicked the FG on 4th on their last drive. Even predicted the INT in the endzone except for a different player

Four More Wins.
Why do so many people

hate Briles again?

Because of how he voted at the end of the season last year
That's right.

Damn, can’t believe I had forgotten about that. Thanks.

Go Utah.

I am so tired of listening to the Horned Frogs whine about being passed over for the Big 12.

UCF over Houston

37-32

Good for us, good for Colt?

Keenum passed for 377/3 TDs in a losing effort at UCF. Colt passed for 470/2 in Austin last week. Gotta count for somethin’.

Tebag hits his receiver for a big catch-n-run TD

South Carolina’s pass D is playing too tight

Great Win!

But not that enjoy to watch the 2nd half from our offense. GD shouldn’t be that conservative on 2nd half. At least, he should give a play for GG to take a shot down field while we were up 47 to nothing.

Maybe you should root for a Bob Stoops-coached team
Pardon me...

May I say you’re overacted?

stoops

would take a shot down field, but would do it with his first string quarterback. 2nd string quarterbacks are for when your qb gets re-injured because you let him play again too soon after a previous injury.

if anyone needs online streaming for later games

http://www.channelsurfing.net/ has most of the games.

hmm...

I don’t follow…You don’t want to see GG has a TD to build his confidence in this late season?

I don't see any value in it

His confidence should come from his ability to correctly execute the plays he is told to run. Whether or not GD calls a play designed for points when we have a 47 point lead shouldn’t have any bearing on how GG feels about himself.

That's fine

I respect your opine. But you lumped to me with Stoops. I think you’re overacted and a bit extreme.

Yeah I apologize

I felt bad about it at soon as I posted it. I’m just really bitter about the late-game scoring binges OU went on last year.

That's alright

We’re cool…In the end, we’re just a bunch of passionate Horns fans :)

Always Hook’em!

Gamecocks tied 7-7 against Florida..
Woot. Go Cocks!
Pound those Pussies
Tech Wins and We Clinch Tonight
I think I'd rather OSU win

and we’ll just win out.

I hate South Carolina's uniforms.

Looks like a load of the Army’s laundry exploded all over them.

Colt4heisman

See yuh in pasadena

We had more rushing yards than passing yards

Is that a first this season?

What an incoherent blathering idiot

Glad Art Briles is not our coach. Can you believe this guy? Good defense. Good defense? I guess he was too busy removing his head out of his a** all afternoon to notice.

BAYLOR QUOTES
Head coach Art Briles

Opening statement: I’m really, really proud of our football team. I’m proud to be a Baylor Bear and you know, just proud of how our guys fought and continued to fight and believe during the football game. Did it go the way we wanted it to go? No. Could it have gone a lot better cause I coached a lot better? You’re doggone right it could have and probably helped us in the outcome of the game. But you know that’s why you live, because you learn and that’s what we’re doing, we’re definitely living and learning. They’re a good football team, they have good people and they do a good job with what they’ve got schematically and that adds to the problems when you’re on the other side of the ball. I think early in the game, with our present and past memories, we are a team that needs to have good things happen early in the football game right now. We need good results that create momentum for our team that allow us to have good outcomes, not just at the end of the game, but on every possession and every play.

On Texas’ defense: We see a bunch of good defenses, they were a good defense today. Honestly, I think Nick (Florence) got rattled a little bit and rightfully so. He took a hard shot from the corner blitz and had an interception early in the game. When you have not played a bunch and you don’t have the snaps under your belt to where you are able to shake stuff off, that can wear on you a little bit. I think he pressed a little bit and when you press you think too much sometimes, so that’s the great thing about experience, that it teaches.

On it being the seniors’ last game at Floyd Casey:
I’m glad you clarified that last part because they’re not out yet, this is just the last game at Floyd Casey. Is this frustrating? Yes. Disappointing? Yes. Demoralizing? No, not in the least bit because we are going to turn around in six days and do it again and we’re going to do it well. It’s not like when they talk about their senior year of football, they’re going to talk about November 14, 2009.

On there being a sense of urgency with two games left: There needs to be, yes. You don’t have to use a lot of fingers to figure out how many we have left. It’s right there and all we have to do is take care of business and there are other people on the other side trying to do the same thing too. That’s what makes it interesting and inspiring to be a part of because it means something.
Wait your problem with him is that he called Texas' defense good? As opposed to bowing at our feet?
I thought it was a reasonable series of statements
They should have asked him...

how would he vote this Longhorn team versus last year.

That's right. And he is blathering.
A shutout would've been sweet

But to call any part of this game a disappointment is silly, in my opinion. We led 40-0 at the half, and held Baylor to about 50 total yards in the first half. We led 47-0 with about 6 minutes left in the game. The points given up were by second and third stringers against Baylor’s starters, which have proven to have some offensive strength. I’m happy to escape another game with a dominating victory and no injuries!! Not everyone can say that this time of year.

FSN's Broadcast of the game

Was the worst college football broadcast I have ever seen. Repeatedly FSN tried to show highlights from another game or stats and when they came back to live play the current play would be half way over or almost over. Newton’s 40+ yard TD was one of the plays that when they descided to show a highlight of another game and when they came back live, Newton was in open field heading for the pylon.

Was this driving anyone else crazy? I think it happened atleast 5 times.

yes!

watched the game with my family, we couldn’t believe how terrible the coverage was and how many plays they missed. also, when they went to commercial after our first TD, they showed the score as 0-0.

same here

“oh boy a td pass from indiana’…. and back to your game… tre newton just ran 43 yards for a touchdown… if that was of any interest to you, too bad, because you just missed it”

They Missed 2 Entire Plays Announcing the Line-ups

The crew did a terrible job at scouting Texas and knowing our scheme’s of quick snaps.

My opinion might be tainted with homerism, but..

I thought that Mack eased off a little considering it was Baylor’s Senior Day, and it would be nice to let Baylor celebrate with their seniors.

We have

no need to run Baylor into the ground to the point of absurdity. I like Mack for being classy.

Agreed

We stomped them good enough in the first half and there were really no signs of life in the second half to indicate a comeback arising (yes they scored twice on our 2nd and 3rd stringers but that does not count). I am glad Mack tries to remain on the high ground in this regard.
