How many losses is it going to take to knock USC permanently out of the BCS picture?
They’re at 11 now even with the two losses. A third loss will knock them down again, but they’ll creep up if they win their last two, and they only need nine wins and a top-14 ranking.
I think he and Forcier are exhibit A and B in the case against relying on true freshmen at QB. Not an issue for UT, of course, provided Colt remains healthy.
next week will be the last home game of this season. For some reason, I feel that not many home games this year. It prolly because most of the time, I joined my friends’ tailgate party on the parking lot more than I spent time in the DKR stadium.
I think it’s Sandstorm by Darude. It’s been around about a decade. Anyway, I’m sure they do play some country at some schools, but country music by male vocalists is dropping a lot in popularity with younger crowds.
It's fairly uncommon for female-vocalized music to be played at football events
So it’s down to male for the most part. And while I don’t know much about country (can’t stand any of it, except for ancient Hank and Willie type stuff), I do know that the female-vocalized section of country is a lot more popular right now, Chesney notwithstanding.
Which one will get more votes for Hiesman or will either one get nominated. Also will Texas ever be ranked No 1. I sure would like to walk downtown in My homwtown of Austin and see the No.1 displayed on the University Tower. What an awesome site.
Nebraska 4-2 6-3
Kansas State 4-3 6-5
Iowa State 3-4 6-5
Colorado 2-4 3-7
Missouri 2-4 6-4
Kansas 1-5 5-4
That’s a weird look. I’m pulling for KU to beat Nebraska, though. KU needs the win for bowl eligibility, and KSU would maintain the lead on Nebraska by a half-game.
but I think they’ve struck a nice balance with the camo and ‘core values’ nametapes. Kudos to whomever put this idea together; too bad only two teams saw fit to do this.
Shipley and Colt are both in it, though, so there could be a problem with a split. An Alabama loss, or an embarrassing performance or two for Ingram, would seem to put the roomies in the drivers’ seats.
Do my eyes deceive me, or did Stanford voluntarily put in their backup QB for mop-up time against USC? I honestly didn’t think there was any chance of that happening this season. USC should be embarrassed, even if Stanford is decent this season. This is probably the first mop-up duty any QB has done against USC in the better part of a decade.
I love it. Harbaugh is doing a fine job with those smart fellers. Andrew Luck was just the recruit that program needed, and he’s going to be a good one.
Okie Lite is currently 19th in the BCS rankings. They could easily jump USC, Miami, the Iowa-OSU loser, Utah (if TCU wins tonight), and they’re almost certainly going to pass Houston.
Less likely possibilities:
Pittsburgh (if ND were to beat them)
Oregon (if AzSU were to beat them)
Especially as our offense starts to establish itself, and Tebow and Co. show how they are defeatable. I feel much better about our chances than I did 8 weeks ago.
Urban Meyer is one hell of a coach when it comes to bowl preparation. I don’t think there’s any way they were a better team than Ohio State a few years back, but they were prepared, and Ohio State wasn’t. That’s a concern, even if Florida’s not as good as UT right now.
Nauseating Tebow love. The kid didn’t “just win” when he was handed the damn Heisman as a sophomore. He actually QBed Florida to a fairly embarrassing season. I’d like to hear someone explain the duality.
Realized that came off harsher than I meant it. You just seemed so certain (and I’m also an ND fan – I know, I know, you can hate me). But anyway, Pitt isn’t playing like a team capable of beating Cincy – end of the 1st and they haven’t scored a TD against the 88th ranked pass defense in the country.
I don’t think of Pitt as anything special, but nor do I with Cincy and think home adv will win that one. Was surprised how they pulled it off with WVU last night.
Bf is a Bengals & Notre Dame fan and between ND playing Pitt tonight and the Bengals playing the Steelers tomorrow, our house is full of Pittsburgh hate this weekend.
Harrell to Crabtree pass is BW3’s #12 play of all time. Just saw the commercial. Looked away before my eyes were exposed to that pass for the 10,001st time.
After watching Kirk Frenetz and Jim Tressel coach today – I said a prayer of thankfulness for GD and Mack. I hereby promise not to take GD name in vain for one half in the KU game.
I'm not one to favor the home/road Jekyll and Hyde syndrome, but...
…A&M really just seems to suck more away from home (except for Tech). Especially so with those white helmets. I expect a tough game from them to try to save their season. Don’t discount desperate farmers.
Reminds me too much of that tacky Lisa Frank brand of school supplies, etc. that every girl under 12 had 15 years ago – unicorns, tigers, dolphins, bears, etc. in hot pink and other electric type colors.
They think that they should be a national power and the reality is most top athletes don’t want to go to South Bend Indiana in a school that is like 5% female.
just so many options on where to play, most of them more attractive than Notre Dame. It doesn’t matter that they are on NBC exclusively when they don’t play for ’ships. A good recruit these days figures to be on TV no matter where he goes to school.
But ND shouldn’t have thought they could keep coming back to win it in the 4th and so stink it up in the other 3 quarters. And even if it was ruled incomplete, they would still have had to go for it on 4th and 16. Jeez.
On “The Lead” on ESPN and ABC – they do not mention that Colt tied the all-time college mark for wins – but do mention that Tebow ties the SEC record for rushing TDs.
S. Carolina
just tied the game with Florida 7-7…It could be a fun game to watch.

Horns98 - November 14, 2009
That's Toby Gerhart
He’s a beast. Luck’s just a freshman, but he can keep a defense like USC’s honest with the pass or tuck and run.
burntorangehorn - November 14, 2009
He’s big & tall. Look like a TE to me.
Horns98 - November 14, 2009
Who Luck? Or Gerhart?
Gerhart’s 6’1" 235lbs. I think. Luck’s a prototypical QB size…which, of course, isn’t that different from prototypical TE size.
burntorangehorn - November 14, 2009
yea, it’s Luck.

burntorangehorn - November 14, 2009

Infield Elephant - November 14, 2009
It'd be great to see USC knocked down to 8-4 by 'Zona
Or heck, 7-5 after Stanford, UCLA, and then ’Zona.
burntorangehorn - November 14, 2009
totally possible too
I would say they have the adv being at home in the last 3, but apparently doesn’t do much for them today. AZ could mess them up pretty good.

Nauseating Tebow love. The kid didn’t “just win” when he was handed the damn Heisman as a sophomore. He actually QBed Florida to a fairly embarrassing season. I’d like to hear someone explain the duality.

But anyway, Pitt isn’t playing like a team capable of beating Cincy – end of the 1st and they haven’t scored a TD against the 88th ranked pass defense in the country.
LonghornEm - November 14, 2009

I don’t think of Pitt as anything special, but nor do I with Cincy and think home adv will win that one. Was surprised how they pulled it off with WVU last night.

But I have to say the TT defense and running game is as good as I have seen it. If they had their normal offense they would have had a great year.
realmccoy - November 14, 2009
their tables turned
what they gained in D and rushing, they lost in passing

lol
Play-action passing up 58-10 in the red zone with all starters in and 10 minutes left in the game.
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
65 for Oklahoma now...
Still throwing the ball.
cj43 - November 14, 2009
Touchdown OU
Stoops is just preparing for a miracle comeback by the ags.
seth78 - November 14, 2009
Georgia about to beat Auburn
Ohio Horn - November 14, 2009
Kinda funny
The blog at iamthe12thman just goes dead at 21-10 ou. I guess they just all gave up and went to the chicken.

cept for Beergut
He’s always there
Darklust - November 14, 2009
Did Beergut give up after they got down 21-10?
I haven’t seen him post on the game thread since that point..
cj43 - November 14, 2009
I thought he was the most loyal fan too...
cj43 - November 14, 2009
Someone better contact the authorities.
Beergut may have injured himself so he didn’t have to witness the pain. His loyalty to Aggie would have forced him to watch unless he stopped himself.
Tragic…
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
Yeah, Iam worried about him..
Even on the KSU game he posted till the end.
cj43 - November 14, 2009
And it was horrible!
You could just see him cutting himself as he typed the despair.
I hope he’s okay.
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
Aggies pull their starter before OU. That's hilarious.
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009

Get readyvfor the TCU lovefest....
Dawnpatrol - November 14, 2009 via mobile
I do like TCU this year. I think they are better than Alabama and Florida
Ohio Horn - November 14, 2009
Those Teams Don't Get Enough Credit
Utah beat Bama like a rented mule last year. Boise beat OU. They deserve a chance and a playoff system.
realmccoy - November 14, 2009
Thought I Saw
Where Las Vegas says that Florida would be 1 point favorite vs. Horns and Horns would be 1 point favorite over Bama. Nice setup for MNC.
realmccoy - November 14, 2009
Pitt scores again 26-9 extra point coming
Ohio Horn - November 14, 2009

Ohio Horn - November 14, 2009
Notre Dame Delusional
They think that they should be a national power and the reality is most top athletes don’t want to go to South Bend Indiana in a school that is like 5% female.
realmccoy - November 14, 2009
But they have their own network
Notredame Broadcasting Corp
Ohio Horn - November 14, 2009
Oh shi-!
I’m transferring!
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
Anyone that loses to a Service Academy should have their contract pulled
BossierTex - November 14, 2009
There are
just so many options on where to play, most of them more attractive than Notre Dame. It doesn’t matter that they are on NBC exclusively when they don’t play for ’ships. A good recruit these days figures to be on TV no matter where he goes to school.
LonghornLostInMiami - November 14, 2009
Why?
Does Oregon look like Odessa Permian right now?
LonghornLostInMiami - November 14, 2009
LA Tech 3-7 held strong against LSU
Ohio Horn - November 14, 2009
Frogs
Are playing really well and intense. Speed kills. They will a lot to handle no matter where they end up.
Dawnpatrol - November 14, 2009 via mobile
I would kill for a TCU/Texas BCS National Championship game.
It will never happen, but I would love it.
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
What did they say the spread would be
if Texas played TCU for the NC? I saw it on the screen but can’t remember if it was 8 or 11 points.
LonghornLostInMiami - November 14, 2009
Texas by 8.
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
Thank you.
LonghornLostInMiami - November 14, 2009
Not according to their NCAA 10 simulation
Texas lost that one… and it looked like they were playing in DKR for some reason.
notsofst - November 14, 2009
Okie lite fumbled on the 1
it is being reviewed. I think it will be overturned

27-22, 7 mins left
Infield Elephant - November 14, 2009
Yep, they are trying to save Weis's job..
cj43 - November 14, 2009
Still time for Clausen to win the heisman tonight.
Ohio Horn - November 14, 2009
Haha..No..
cj43 - November 14, 2009
folks seem to want to give it to him because of the comebacks.
Ohio Horn - November 14, 2009
Or just because he is the QB at ND...
cj43 - November 14, 2009
Funny.
LonghornLostInMiami - November 14, 2009
Pitt gonna go for it here?
cj43 - November 14, 2009
Pitt is giving it back to clausen with 3:40 left
Ohio Horn - November 14, 2009
And Notre Dame wets the bed
… no heisman for you
notsofst - November 14, 2009
That "fumble" was a shit call
But ND shouldn’t have thought they could keep coming back to win it in the 4th and so stink it up in the other 3 quarters. And even if it was ruled incomplete, they would still have had to go for it on 4th and 16. Jeez.
LonghornEm - November 14, 2009
4th and 16.....
Looked like a fumble to me on 3rd down..
cj43 - November 14, 2009
Down goes ND!!!
How many more does Weis have to lose to get fired?
cj43 - November 14, 2009
Show me a man who can lose more than 2 games with Notre Dame's schedule and I'll show you a man with no job.
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
What do you mean?
They play a stout schedule worthy of their own network every year.
LonghornLostInMiami - November 14, 2009
Oh, you...
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
Swarbrick says he won't look at Weis's performance until the end of the season.
LonghornEm - November 14, 2009
Does that mean..
That’s he’s given up watching the games?
notsofst - November 14, 2009
I assume.
I just about have. Slept through most of the 4th quarter.
LonghornEm - November 14, 2009
Back to TTvOSU
and TT scores. down 7 with 7 left
Ohio Horn - November 14, 2009
Is This Fair?
On “The Lead” on ESPN and ABC – they do not mention that Colt tied the all-time college mark for wins – but do mention that Tebow ties the SEC record for rushing TDs.
realmccoy - November 14, 2009
ESPN is worthless except for watching games and catching scores
Haven’t you learned that yet?
Darklust - November 14, 2009
If ESPN is worthless...
what does that make FSN?
LonghornLostInMiami - November 14, 2009
Worthlesser?
realmccoy - November 14, 2009
I honestly haven't heard FSN's personalities act as stupid as many of ESPN's
Darklust - November 14, 2009
Listen to Dave Lapham high.
Also, listen to Pink Floyd at the same time.
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
They've mentioned the record on the ticker several times.
I don’t know if it was on ‘The Lead’ or not, but I have seen it down there after the score was up on the screen.
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
Damn-Looks like we have to beat KU to clinch
realmccoy - November 14, 2009
You say that like it'll be difficult
Darklust - November 14, 2009
Last Game in DKR for Colt, Sergio, Jordan. Lamar - they will be pumped
realmccoy - November 14, 2009
No chance of a letdown.
Also, I’m not opposed to letting them play the whole game.
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
It kind of sucks that their last regular season game is in kyle field
It’s such a horrible crowd.
Darklust - November 15, 2009
...granted I suppose they won't really be showing up anyway
Darklust - November 15, 2009
Oh damn!
Robinson just got destroyed and fumbled the ball with 1:39 left. Tech recovered!
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009

Texas Tech recovers the fumble. They are still alive.

JohnsonUT - November 14, 2009
Tough Kid
realmccoy - November 14, 2009
I don't think he saw him.
Wall came around a blocked defender and caught him by surprise as Zac thought he had a clear path to the endzone.
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
He ran into a Wall. (rim shot)
LonghornLostInMiami - November 14, 2009
*Swish~!*
HornPossessed - November 14, 2009
Both guys are mess up.
Hope they are ok.
JohnsonUT - November 14, 2009
With all the Big12 QBs going down
It doesn’t bother me to take out Colt. If we win the championship, the heisman is secondary
Ohio Horn - November 14, 2009
Amen.
LonghornLostInMiami - November 14, 2009
Zac Has No Idea Where He Is
realmccoy - November 14, 2009

horndude - November 14, 2009

these concussion hits are starting to get redundant.
UTrumbo - November 14, 2009

Infield Elephant - November 14, 2009

Horns98 - November 14, 2009
It was painful to watch him miss that
it was the game and it brushed his fingers
notsofst - November 14, 2009
Plus poor clock mgmt
on last couple plays. It seems like they don’t care if they win this game or not…
Horns98 - November 14, 2009
Leach is horrible at managing the clock.
Darklust - November 15, 2009
Its over
Ohio Horn - November 14, 2009

LonghornLostInMiami - November 14, 2009

Horns98 - November 14, 2009
Did you hear
what they were saying about Nebraska versus the Horns?
LonghornLostInMiami - November 14, 2009
No, what did they say?
Horns98 - November 14, 2009
fill us in cap.
UTrumbo - November 14, 2009
They were saying that Nebraska's the last team
with a legit shot at beating Texas.
LonghornLostInMiami - November 14, 2009
not a bad point
Infield Elephant - November 14, 2009
it’s won’t happen.
Horns98 - November 14, 2009
Exactly, UT by 10 minimum, 20 likely.
Nebraska lost to Iowa State… nuff said.
Darklust - November 15, 2009
I hope
PB will open a thread for VY play against Buffalo tomorrow. I’m counting on Titans from 0-6 to 10-6 at the end of the season.
