Andrew Luck and Toby Gerhart will expose some weaknesses in UO's defense
Not sure Stanford will pull off the upset, but Harbaugh runs a fundamentally sound program that can probably show teams down the road how to beat the Ducks.
Andrew Luck's an amazing talent, and Gerhart's a great back
Luck is a Texas boy who could’ve gone almost anywhere, but chose to play for Harbaugh. He’s unrefined at this point, but his talent as a prototypical pocket passer is terrific. Those kinds of guys can expose a defense when they’re on, or have a so-so game when they’re off.
Also, overrated defenses like Oregon’s can look pretty tasty to a team like Stanford, who’s looking for an upset against a team that is probably pretty full of themselves coming into today.
But I don’t think Harbaugh’s the type to go for, say, a big SEC school. He played at Michigan, and he even publicly poo-poo’d THEIR academics about a year ago.
Ok Ok y’all were right all along. We’re not back yet, Texas Tech win was a fluke. We will be better next year. But I am not giving up on the Thanksgiving day possibility of a surprise yet.
If Nebraska loses today, they’ll be 2-3 and KSU will be 4-2. But Nebraska still has KSU on the schedule so if they win out, they’ll finish with, at worst, the same record as KSU and will have the head-to-head win for the tiebreaker.
but then I met a few of these ring-wearin’ former corps turd TexAg posters here in H-town, and realized they really are every bit as delusional as they appear. Some things never change, especially in Collie Station.
Well this has nothing to do with what we were saying about Oregon.
And notwithstanding that, Stanford’s a hell of a lot better than Louisiana Tech, which BSU struggled like crazy with last night (only up 3 with 10 minutes to go).
I don't think it's a bunch of "Oregon lovers" here
Everyone’s arguments this week in the Boise-Oregon debate remain valid despite this weekend’s results. We were all debating based on the evidence at hand.
We just didn’t value those particular facts as much as some other particular facts. You can’t say that your value system of valuing facts is better than mine, nor can you say that I was ignoring facts. It’s just flat-out wrong.
I agree that Oregons wins compared to Boise wins, Oregons wins are more impressive. But the huge factor that I am still considering is the head-to-head undefeated argument (like burntorangehorn said). With that said, I really really dont think that Oregon will move ahead of Boise if both teams win out. I just dont see it happening. And if you think about it, wouldnt Oregon have jumped Boise by this point (even after beating USC?)
I've made my argument ad nauseum and i'm not going to rehash it over and over again.
Bullet-point and then I’m done.
1. I saw that BSU/Oregon game differently than some other people did. I saw it as two teams playing poorly and Oregon playing more poorly. BSU wasn’t impressive.
2. BSU has played absolutely no one other than Oregon and has struggled against both Tulsa and Louisiana Tech.
3. Oregon has played good teams and beaten the crap out of them.
4. So….BSU has 1 poorly-played win against a good team, nothing else particularly good, plus 2 game struggling against bad teams. Oregon has a poorly-played loss against a good team, plus a bunch of big wins against good teams.
To me, that equals Oregon over BSU. To you, it might not. That’s fine. But please don’t tell me that I have to value one game more than the entire rest of the season just because you happen to think it’s more important.
Team Harbaugh is rolling with Luck. Oregon has kept on responding with touchdowns, now just down 38-28, but Stanford’s drawing out the drives and matriculating the ball down the field.
People were already letting Oregon creep up to or ahead of Boise. I also think TCU would be unlikely. I really do think an undefeated Cinci should stay ahead of any one-loss SEC team, though.
BSU scored last night with about 5 minutes to go to go up by 8, pending the conversion. BSU went for two. That’s absolutely the wrong call if one goes by the conversion chart, right?
I know TDs are hard to come by in the offensively challenged defensive strong SEC, but there’s no great need to go for 2 there. Kick the extra point, and two FGs don’t beat you, and a FG of your own puts you up two scores.
But Colt or any legitimately good QB would greatly improve their passing offense. The passing offense would never be as good as UT’s, but I think the balance could be superior overall.
I’d give up a record breaking passing offense for a big boy running game and line scheme. And yes, Davis defenders, I’m certain you can have a great running and passing offense in the same season.
I think Oregon deserves a lot of credit for their turnaround
But part of the reason I felt like their win over USC was made a big deal was because of the reputation of USC and not how good they actually were. I felt this USC team was one of the weaker ones in Carrol’s tenure, but when Oregon beat them everyone freaked out. Of course, USC is better than anyone else Boise State has played, but it was amusing to see the media reaction.
Getting blown out at KSU is one thing, but letting a 2-6 mediocre team with suspect coaching and talent not on the level as ours beat you is not an acceptable thing.
Being down 59-0 five minutes into the second half against KSU is apparently acceptable.
i was in london over the summer while the CWS was being played, on a tour of the Tower, wearing burnt orange naturally… and some dude comes up to me and says “You know We’re gonna win tonight, right?”
partially as was stated before for baseball revenge. really i’d take anybody though. mostly florida, actually, to have a shot at knocking urb & squareface jesus off their blocks
Around here the trick is to stay away from Baltimoron chicks
Marylanders have an odd accent at times, but it’s very limited in its manifestations (basically just overemphasis of the letter “O”). Baltimorons are barely intelligible, and tend to look like they’re straight out of a Wal-Mart in Mississippi.
Unless Oregon loses again. Could easily happen vs. Oregon State, I guess.
Then again, USC could easily lose again as well. At any rate, as long as Oregon doesn’t lose more conference games than USC does over these last few weeks, Oregon will be in the Rose Bowl.
I should probably emphasize that I wouldn't want him as a full-blown OC
I’d like him to be the co-OC and in charge of playcalling or something, with Davis as the co-OC and QBs coach.
No chance it happens, though. Weis could write his check at a lot of lesser programs, and even if he wanted to come to Texas, Mack probably wouldn’t accept his offensive style, nor would he want to demote Davis.
just saw the Cal highlight. Best went for the TD and tried to dive in for the score. Oregon St. guy launches him up, and Best falls awkwardly on his head.
Will be surprised if he plays at all for the rest of the season.
At halftime he went to Washington D.C. to bless the health care bill providing health care for all… What a patriot….He cares so much for everyone….And now he is back in time to quarterback God’s team….What a guy…College Football will never be the same when he leaves….
Just like real Jesus. You see, back when he was busy slashing foreskin off little boys’ penises in the Phillipines (because the Bible told him to do it) he said, in an interview, that he wanted to go to “surgery school” after college. But what WWJD didn’t realize was that the new health care bill will basically make it impossible for him to have lucrative career slicing and dicing foreskin, so he might not make a God-like amount of money after “surgery school.” Tebow irritates the sh*t out of me and there is no nicer way to say it.
Cincy’s having a down year in terms of talent. They lost a TON from last year. But Brian Kelly’s an almost unequaled coach, and he’s made a lot out of nothing. I think they do the best job at adjustments out of anyone in the country, and I think they’d beat TCU.
I’m honestly not sure what’s so impressive about TCU, other than the record. That is, although I think they do deserve to be ranked about where they are, I’d like to hear a case for why people think they’re better than Cincinnati. Is it because they’re from Texas?
arguing that if they had Pike and having a down year in talent. Sure, if they had the active roster they wanted, but they don’t.
TCU is good, and it’s not because they’re from Texas (or anything having to do with the SWC). As of last week, and maybe again this week, they have the #1 total defense and #12 total offense. You could argue about their schedule, but it is certainly tougher than Cincy’s and TCU has beaten the shit out of most of their opponents.
I would not be the least bit surprised to see Cincy lose at Pitt. Brian Kelly may be a good coach, but he doesn’t have the talent – injuries/grads regardless. TCU is tough with a lot of talent, and while they may not be better than Bama (see above), they deserve more of a shot than the other undefeateds, which I guess is now only Boise and Cincy.
USC will probably be ranked ahead of Oregon tomorrow. They only dropped to 12th, and Oregon just lost to effing Stanford. Neither one should be ranked 12th or better, but USC will almost certainly climb to the top ten.
The Iowa and PSU losses mean that the Big 10 will not have a one-loss at-large team available. And Notre Dame’s loss eliminates the Irish.
Assuming TCU gets the automatic bid and that the SEC championship game loser is a lock for an at-large, Boise will be fighting it out with a second team from each of the five major conferences, but it’s hard to imagine a second team from the Big XII or the Big East, and Miami seems to be the only plausible second team from the ACC. So quite possibly two of the following three get in: an undefeated Boise, a two-loss Pac Ten team and a two-loss Big Ten team.
BCS ain’t gonna take Boise unless the rules require it. They’ll take Iowa if Hawkeyes lose to Ohio State, Buckeyes if Iowa should win. They’d take a 2-loss Penn State. And if Miami wins out, and they damn sure should looking at their schedule, the Orange Bowl would take their 10-2 before a 13-0 Boise.
They probably won’t get the automatic bid for the Rose Bowl, most likely. However, I guess it’s possible that they’ll get one of the at-large bids. Kinda sucks. The Big 12 probably doesn’t get a second BCS bid, by the way, unless Okie Lite gets help.
Likely bowl lineup, as it stands now:
BCS Championship Texas vs. Florida/Alabama winner
Sugar Bowl at-large vs. at-large or Cinci
Orange Bowl Georgia Tech vs. at-large or Cinci
Rose Bowl Arizona/Oregon winner vs. Ohio State/Iowa winner
Fiesta Bowl at-large vs. at-large or Cinci
As it stands, TCU would probably get the automatic bid. The at-large candidates, as I see it, are as follows:
UF/Bama loser
Boise State (BCS #6 tomorrow, I think)
USC (BCS #9 or #10 tomorrow)
Pittsburgh (#10 or #9)
Ohio State (#13 or #14)
LSU, Oregon, Utah, Okie Lite could all have outside shots.
With UT and UF/Bama winner in the BCS Championship, the Sugar and Fiesta would have first choice of the at-large teams. The Sugar would take the Florida/Bama loser. The Fiesta would be harder to peg, but I’d guess USC would be their first pick. Ugh. After that, the at-large selection order begins, and it goes Orange, Fiesta, Sugar.
Orange has Georgia Tech, and I think they’d go for the biggest money program, meaning Ohio State. The Fiesta would probably take Cincinnati. The Sugar wouldn’t take LSU to match up with the UF/Bama winner, so they’d probably end up with one of Oregon, Boise State, Pittsburgh, Okie Lite, or Utah. I would guess Oregon, believe it or not.
They’ll either be the one-loss Big East Champ or a two-loss, Gator Bowl bound team. And I don’t see a one-loss Cincinnati getting an at-large over an undefeated Boise.
I did this assuming an automatic bid for Cincinnati. Basically, I assumed the higher-ranked team would win in all future matchups, except for listing tOSU/Iowa and UF/Bama as either/or.
Cincinnati would be the Big East champ, and thus have an automatic bid. That’s why I kept putting “at-large or Cinci” in the bowl slots. The Big East doesn’t have a BCS bowl tie-in anymore.
Cincinnati would be the Big East champ, and thus have an automatic bid. That’s why I kept putting "at-large or Cinci" in the bowl slots. The Big East doesn’t have a BCS bowl tie-in anymore.
So they’re eliminated for almost all intents and purposes. Basically, UF or Bama would have to drop like a rock, at least two games, for LSU to have a shot.
Good Lord. Is this what is was like for the less interested people watching UT vs OU? This game is horrible. It is slightly better than Auburn over Miss St 3-2….
Anyone else get the same “High School Football” feeling during the LSU-Bama game?
After the 76th time McElroy missed a wide open receiver and LSU had a first down called back on a penalty I decided that there are just no “powerhouse” conferences this year.
i hate to bring up the “refs are bought” argument in football, but the officiating in the lsu-bama game today was horrific.
i do not believe that bama is in the top 3 in the nation, not when you need help against an lsu team with no qb.
Earlier in the Florida-Vandy game, one of the announcers was saying something like, “you really gotta respect Mike Slive (SEC commissioner) for having the guts to put an end to this referee-questioning”
They are essentially tied with Kstate (they have 1 less win, but have played 1 less game). They play each other in 2 weeks. It is AT Nebraska, so I think they would be pretty favored. They could even lose to one of KU/CU and still be the North rep as long as they beat KSU and win the other game.
If you noticed, all the targets were way, way downfield. That was just a major brainfart on the coaching staff’s sake. They played that snap like it was time for a last-second hail mary, but they had time to actually put together a few plays.
He flashed some potential – but looks like he will be a huge drop from Sam. Key question: Will Jones with some significant playing time be better than GG in the RRS?
Jones will have at least one top-notch target in Broyles, and a few decent options elsewhere. Murray could even return. But the line will probably be worse, not better, without Trent Williams and Brody Eldridge. Sure they have youngsters there, but it’s a bad line right now.
Gilbert should have some nice targets as well, but it’s hard to know how the line’s going to look next year. Can Mack, Mac, and Davis cobble together a line around the remnants of what’s already a disappointing line this season? Huey, Snow, and Hix will be back. So can Allen, Poehlmann, Walters, Kelley, et al form a decent unit?
Hard to believe he could watch what happened to Gresh and Sam and come back. Especially given his track record with injuries. He stayed healthy, he carried the team, he should leave. Broyles is definitely top notch.
That in itself will be what separates him from Jones. I really think that Blake Bell will eventually beat out Jones after Bell gets a year in the program. The future is looking bright from here. Especially if we get Jeffcoat and Hicks.
…I don’t expect to see much of Bell until 2013. Jones has a big arm and has done pretty well. Bell’s not so good that he’ll unseat a vastly more experienced guy with about the same level of talent.
Imagine that kid behind a line that was already not very good, but also missing two guys. One guy was out because of a death in the family, and another was out with a short-term injury. Think Bell would’ve done anything? Sam Bradford himself wouldn’t have had time to breathe.
is the same we’ve had about Colt, really, his entire career — who the hell steps in if he gets hurt?
Gilbert will have either an almost-never-used Sh. Harris or a true frosh behind him next year. If GG makes 12 starts in 2010, we should win 9-10 games and could do better than that. If he were to miss half the season . . .
I'd feel pretty comfortable with fifth-year senior Harris behind him
I think Sherrod could drive the bus pretty well. He wouldn’t put up huge offensive numbers or anything, but he’s not so bad that it’d be like having to turn to Jarrett Lee.
I think a lot of next year revolves much more around what we do with our O-line, not so much our QB situation. Even if GG is the better athalete in the long run, whoever plays QB next year will be a step down from Colt simply because of al of his experience. You can’t just plug someone in and replace his relationships with the WRs, his leadership, ect. So, whoever goes in, a lot (more) of their success will depend on the OL. We were fortunate McCoy’s first year that our Oline did a good job of protecting Colt.
Wow. I hadn’t realized how different his stats were this year. I knew last year was crazy, but I hadn’t put it into perspective.
-Colt accounted for 45 Tds in 13 games last year
-If we play in the MNC, Colt is on pace to account for 28. Twenty. Eight.
Wow. That is a huge difference. And I should add that I think Colt is having a good year. He’s made a few more mistakes, and he’s probably been held back a bit by play calling and personel (wrong set of starting WRs), but he’s still having a really good year.
His Best Accomplishments Are "Lifetime Achievement" Awards
Sort of like the guys who get honorary Oscars when they are about to croak – even though they were like 0-7 when nominated in their prime.
Colt should be able to ride these facts to the Heisman:
1. Should be all time winningnest QB in CFB history (that good)
2. Should be all time most accurate QB in CFB history (that real good too)
3. Horns should be undefeated (really more of a defensive accomplishment)

how many of these posters are actually Aggie fans and not trolls from other fanbases posing as Aggies to make them look bad haha
goingforthecorner - November 7, 2009
I used to think this,
but then I met a few of these ring-wearin’ former corps turd TexAg posters here in H-town, and realized they really are every bit as delusional as they appear. Some things never change, especially in Collie Station.

burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
it almost seems that Ingram is only getting heisman love
because hes the only one on that offense moving the ball. they have to find someone on the team by default given the their ranking.

Um, Baylor is beating Mizzou 40-29....
Aggies might have some trouble with the rejuvenated Bears.
billyzane - November 7, 2009
Oregon lovers on this board: look at your dominant oregon team facing the might cardinals!
MJY6087 - November 7, 2009
Boise State is in a no win situation
They can’t cheer against Oregon, but if Oregon wins out, they most likely leap the Broncos.
TheElusiveShadow - November 7, 2009
I still don’t think that will happen. Personally I believe as long as BSU remains undefeated oregon will never leap them
MJY6087 - November 7, 2009
Well this has nothing to do with what we were saying about Oregon.
And notwithstanding that, Stanford’s a hell of a lot better than Louisiana Tech, which BSU struggled like crazy with last night (only up 3 with 10 minutes to go).
billyzane - November 7, 2009
I thought he was refering to the post
about who you don’t want to face in the championship. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw that score.
Wells - November 7, 2009
I don't think it's a bunch of "Oregon lovers" here
Everyone’s arguments this week in the Boise-Oregon debate remain valid despite this weekend’s results. We were all debating based on the evidence at hand.
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
Except that most ignored the most obvious evidence at hand:
1. That BSU beat up Oregon
2. That BSU had a better record than Oregon
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Well that's just not true.
We just didn’t value those particular facts as much as some other particular facts. You can’t say that your value system of valuing facts is better than mine, nor can you say that I was ignoring facts. It’s just flat-out wrong.
Regardless, I’m not getting into this now.
billyzane - November 7, 2009
I agree that Oregons wins compared to Boise wins, Oregons wins are more impressive. But the huge factor that I am still considering is the head-to-head undefeated argument (like burntorangehorn said). With that said, I really really dont think that Oregon will move ahead of Boise if both teams win out. I just dont see it happening. And if you think about it, wouldnt Oregon have jumped Boise by this point (even after beating USC?)
MJY6087 - November 7, 2009
Oregon already moved ahead of BSU
Which is a real shame, IMO.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
not in USA today and BCS rankings they havent
MJY6087 - November 7, 2009
So were style points more valuable than head-to-head and wins?
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
PEOPLE! Let's not reopen this now!
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
I’m done with this.
billyzane - November 7, 2009
I think we discuss this here more than the Boise State blog does
We truly are obsessed with college football.

awiggo - November 7, 2009
I think so too.
billyzane - November 7, 2009

mattyj - November 7, 2009
Very small step
Iowa was the best shot to not let a one-loss SEC team into the title game. The Hawkeyes lost and are done.
Now Cincy, TCU, or Boise over one-loss SEC. I. Don’t. Know.
awiggo - November 7, 2009
Yeah, would be interesting to see what happens..
cj43 - November 7, 2009
My gut says no on BSU
People were already letting Oregon creep up to or ahead of Boise. I also think TCU would be unlikely. I really do think an undefeated Cinci should stay ahead of any one-loss SEC team, though.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Speaking of going for two . . .
BSU scored last night with about 5 minutes to go to go up by 8, pending the conversion. BSU went for two. That’s absolutely the wrong call if one goes by the conversion chart, right?
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
Yeah, I saw that also....
Definitely the wrong call. Take the PAT and go up 7 is the call..
cj43 - November 7, 2009
err...9..
cj43 - November 7, 2009
Not sure about going for 2
I know TDs are hard to come by in the
offensively challengeddefensive strong SEC, but there’s no great need to go for 2 there. Kick the extra point, and two FGs don’t beat you, and a FG of your own puts you up two scores.TheElusiveShadow - November 7, 2009
Big TD run for Gerhart
44-28 Stanford, PAT pending
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009

TheElusiveShadow - November 7, 2009

But part of the reason I felt like their win over USC was made a big deal was because of the reputation of USC and not how good they actually were. I felt this USC team was one of the weaker ones in Carrol’s tenure, but when Oregon beat them everyone freaked out. Of course, USC is better than anyone else Boise State has played, but it was amusing to see the media reaction.

Wow, crap play.
I thought he would be out of bounds to be sure, but I guess not.
Completely blown defense.

I'm holding out hope for LSU
A touchdown still puts them ahead. I’ve come to really dislike that school, but it’s a lesser-of-two-evils situation.
Regardless, UT should be ranked ahead of ’Bama by a wider margin tomorrow.

Around here the trick is to stay away from Baltimoron chicks
Marylanders have an odd accent at times, but it’s very limited in its manifestations (basically just overemphasis of the letter “O”). Baltimorons are barely intelligible, and tend to look like they’re straight out of a Wal-Mart in Mississippi.

burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
It would give us a decided schematic advantage...
HornPossessed - November 7, 2009
I should probably emphasize that I wouldn't want him as a full-blown OC
I’d like him to be the co-OC and in charge of playcalling or something, with Davis as the co-OC and QBs coach.
No chance it happens, though. Weis could write his check at a lot of lesser programs, and even if he wanted to come to Texas, Mack probably wouldn’t accept his offensive style, nor would he want to demote Davis.

So he sacrificed himself
Just like real Jesus. You see, back when he was busy slashing foreskin off little boys’ penises in the Phillipines (because the Bible told him to do it) he said, in an interview, that he wanted to go to “surgery school” after college. But what WWJD didn’t realize was that the new health care bill will basically make it impossible for him to have lucrative career slicing and dicing foreskin, so he might not make a God-like amount of money after “surgery school.” Tebow irritates the sh*t out of me and there is no nicer way to say it.

Cincinnati/TCU
Who is better
sportsfantx - November 7, 2009
tcu
Infield Elephant - November 7, 2009
Are you serious?
TCU is probably better than Bama.
tblog123 - November 7, 2009
TCU has more talent
But I think Brian Kelly’s the better coach.
In the end, I think homefield advantage would be the difference between the two. Probably Cincy at a neutral site.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
no way
Infield Elephant - November 7, 2009
Why do you say that?
Cincy’s having a down year, but they’d beat up TCU if they had Pike back, and it’d be a very close game even without him.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Should clarify:
Cincy’s having a down year in terms of talent. They lost a TON from last year. But Brian Kelly’s an almost unequaled coach, and he’s made a lot out of nothing. I think they do the best job at adjustments out of anyone in the country, and I think they’d beat TCU.
I’m honestly not sure what’s so impressive about TCU, other than the record. That is, although I think they do deserve to be ranked about where they are, I’d like to hear a case for why people think they’re better than Cincinnati. Is it because they’re from Texas?
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
That's hypothetical
arguing that if they had Pike and having a down year in talent.
Infield Elephant - November 7, 2009

goingforthecorner - November 7, 2009
Boise was a big winner today
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
funny to think BSU was a big winner
they struggled with freaking LA Tech
Infield Elephant - November 7, 2009
And their big scalp lost today as well
But through natural attrition, they might get in by default
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
doesn't matter
BCS ain’t gonna take Boise unless the rules require it. They’ll take Iowa if Hawkeyes lose to Ohio State, Buckeyes if Iowa should win. They’d take a 2-loss Penn State. And if Miami wins out, and they damn sure should looking at their schedule, the Orange Bowl would take their 10-2 before a 13-0 Boise.
I didn’t say this is right . . .
edsp - November 7, 2009
It'd be a shame if they went
I would guess Oregon, believe it or not.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Pitt won't be an at-large
They’ll either be the one-loss Big East Champ or a two-loss, Gator Bowl bound team. And I don’t see a one-loss Cincinnati getting an at-large over an undefeated Boise.
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
Cincinnati wouldn't be one-loss
I did this assuming an automatic bid for Cincinnati. Basically, I assumed the higher-ranked team would win in all future matchups, except for listing tOSU/Iowa and UF/Bama as either/or.
Cincinnati would be the Big East champ, and thus have an automatic bid. That’s why I kept putting “at-large or Cinci” in the bowl slots. The Big East doesn’t have a BCS bowl tie-in anymore.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
The winner of the Big East is automatically in the BCS
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
Re-read my post
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
And I quote:
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Ah
Misread “The Big East doesn’t have a BCS bowl tie-in anymore.”
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
I think the Big East used to have an Orange Bowl tie-in
Now they’re kind of homeless, which is weird.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Also, LSU can't be an at-large
Only two teams per conference.
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
That's right
So they’re eliminated for almost all intents and purposes. Basically, UF or Bama would have to drop like a rock, at least two games, for LSU to have a shot.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
that is very ugly
Infield Elephant - November 7, 2009
USC only up 14-9 over AZ St
15:00 4th
Infield Elephant - November 7, 2009
And that score can remain exactly like that as far as I am concerned.

OU misses another FG!
goingforthecorner - November 7, 2009
OU misses their third FG of the night
And Trent Williams is having false starts left and right. The OU line is in shambles right now.

3rd INT for Jones..
cj43 - November 7, 2009
So, any thoughts on how UT would math up with Neb if they made it to the title game?
I can’t tell how much of this is poor offense and how much is good D
laxtonto - November 7, 2009
We'd kick their ass in calculus and algebra
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
I think we have them in Diffy Q also

i am starting to think the "C" is going out on my keyboard
laxtonto - November 7, 2009
OU vs Neb
Good Lord. Is this what is was like for the less interested people watching UT vs OU? This game is horrible. It is slightly better than Auburn over Miss St 3-2….
UT_BKC - November 7, 2009
Your right
no offense at all… its embarrassing, i dont know how much of this is good defense at this point.
Hook'em13 - November 7, 2009
Watch OU somehow pull this one out..
cj43 - November 7, 2009
If not...they are still the best 4 loss team in the country..
cj43 - November 7, 2009
Is that what they’re gonna tell the recruits?
tblog123 - November 7, 2009
It's true.
Anyone else get the same “High School Football” feeling during the LSU-Bama game?
After the 76th time McElroy missed a wide open receiver and LSU had a first down called back on a penalty I decided that there are just no “powerhouse” conferences this year.
tblog123 - November 7, 2009
i hate to bring up the “refs are bought” argument in football, but the officiating in the lsu-bama game today was horrific.
i do not believe that bama is in the top 3 in the nation, not when you need help against an lsu team with no qb.
Hook'em13 - November 7, 2009
Ha ha. Dougherty style?
Earlier in the Florida-Vandy game, one of the announcers was saying something like, “you really gotta respect Mike Slive (SEC commissioner) for having the guts to put an end to this referee-questioning”
That was priceless.
tblog123 - November 7, 2009
murray
seems to be carrying OU.
Hook'em13 - November 7, 2009
haha
OU goes for it on fourth down at the nebraska 20 and doesnt make it.
Hook'em13 - November 7, 2009
C'mon, Huskers
Put up another TD, so I can feel safer hoping for a Broyles TD in garbage time.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Wow, UConn, is a two-point conversion away from tying
What the hell happened here? Cincy was up by 20!

cj43 - November 7, 2009
Houston is down 45-43 to Tulsa
Three seconds left, at the Tulsa 32. Looks like their only choice is a FG attempt. 49yd. kick, with a weak kicking game.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Couldn't tell they have a weak kicking game by the look of that kick..
cj43 - November 7, 2009
No kidding. Kid pulled that kick out of his arse.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Down goes OU...
cj43 - November 7, 2009
Dear Oklahoma,
How does it feel to have four losses by the first weekend in November? I can’t remember.
Sincerely,
Texas
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
that pretty much assures we get
Huskers in December, right? Assuming they don’t gag to K-State.
edsp - November 7, 2009
I think better to say that we will most likely get the Nebraska-KSU winner
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
This is correct
As long as Nebraska beats KU and CU, and KSU beats Mizzou.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
No, not by a longshot.
Nebraska is down in the standings.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Neb is the likely opponent
They are essentially tied with Kstate (they have 1 less win, but have played 1 less game). They play each other in 2 weeks. It is AT Nebraska, so I think they would be pretty favored. They could even lose to one of KU/CU and still be the North rep as long as they beat KSU and win the other game.
UT_BKC - November 7, 2009
As is explained, it'll almost certainly be the KSU-Nebraska winner
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
WOW! Houston wins!

cj43 - November 7, 2009
looked like he just didn't really care who would catch the fotball
justfr1day - November 7, 2009
I think that was actually the playcall
If you noticed, all the targets were way, way downfield. That was just a major brainfart on the coaching staff’s sake. They played that snap like it was time for a last-second hail mary, but they had time to actually put together a few plays.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009

Interception. Man, Landry just threw a jump ball. They had plenty of time left that they could’ve actually worked to move the chains.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
You could have just typed that out five minutes ago and then waited for the inevitable pick.
tblog123 - November 7, 2009
What's OU's excuse now?
their first three losses were close against ranked teams. Now what?

If there's one major area of concern if we play Nebraska
It’s Suh. Holy crap, what a monster. He obliterated OU’s line.
TheElusiveShadow - November 7, 2009
Agree Wholeheartedly
I would have the hurry up ready – see what kind of shape he is in.
realmccoy - November 8, 2009
ASU gets one, MAYBE two plays to hit the end zone against USC.
It’d be nice to knock off the condoms.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Ugh
ASU receivers didn’t even get to the end zone on that hail mary. No speed or something.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
One hell mary here for the game..
cj43 - November 7, 2009
I love hail mary passes with no receivers downfield myself
Hopkins Horn - November 7, 2009
love the selfish USC players fighting each other for the INT..
cj43 - November 7, 2009
What do you think about Landry Jones in 10?
He flashed some potential – but looks like he will be a huge drop from Sam. Key question: Will Jones with some significant playing time be better than GG in the RRS?
realmccoy - November 7, 2009
He'll be legit.
Not as deadly as Bradford, though.
tblog123 - November 7, 2009
I think he would've been about as good if he'd had the same line Bradford had his FR/SO yrs.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
I'll take my chances with GG anyday..
cj43 - November 7, 2009
I think Gilbert will have more blinders on
Jones will have at least one top-notch target in Broyles, and a few decent options elsewhere.
So can Allen, Poehlmann, Walters, Kelley, et al form a decent unit?
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Would Think Murray Would Go
Hard to believe he could watch what happened to Gresh and Sam and come back. Especially given his track record with injuries. He stayed healthy, he carried the team, he should leave. Broyles is definitely top notch.
realmccoy - November 8, 2009
If GG > Jones ...
The current 4 outta 5 run by the Horns could get delightfully ugly for OU.
realmccoy - November 7, 2009
GG is a better runner than most people know...
That in itself will be what separates him from Jones. I really think that Blake Bell will eventually beat out Jones after Bell gets a year in the program. The future is looking bright from here. Especially if we get Jeffcoat and Hicks.
cj43 - November 7, 2009
Unless Landry is injured...
…I don’t expect to see much of Bell until 2013. Jones has a big arm and has done pretty well. Bell’s not so good that he’ll unseat a vastly more experienced guy with about the same level of talent.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
If Landry keeps playing like he is now, they will have no choice but to try someone else..
That was a horrible game. 5 INT.
cj43 - November 7, 2009
Bell would've been much worse at this point
Imagine that kid behind a line that was already not very good, but also missing two guys. One guy was out because of a death in the family, and another was out with a short-term injury. Think Bell would’ve done anything? Sam Bradford himself wouldn’t have had time to breathe.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
Jones looked scattershot when he had all day to throw. No touch.
realmccoy - November 8, 2009
When did he have all day to throw?
Not Saturday against Nebraska. Suh was in his face all day long.
burntorangehorn - November 8, 2009
The one scary aspect of GG
is the same we’ve had about Colt, really, his entire career — who the hell steps in if he gets hurt?
Gilbert will have either an almost-never-used Sh. Harris or a true frosh behind him next year. If GG makes 12 starts in 2010, we should win 9-10 games and could do better than that. If he were to miss half the season . . .
edsp - November 7, 2009
I'd feel pretty comfortable with fifth-year senior Harris behind him
I think Sherrod could drive the bus pretty well. He wouldn’t put up huge offensive numbers or anything, but he’s not so bad that it’d be like having to turn to Jarrett Lee.
burntorangehorn - November 7, 2009
I think a lot of next year revolves much more around what we do with our O-line, not so much our QB situation. Even if GG is the better athalete in the long run, whoever plays QB next year will be a step down from Colt simply because of al of his experience. You can’t just plug someone in and replace his relationships with the WRs, his leadership, ect. So, whoever goes in, a lot (more) of their success will depend on the OL. We were fortunate McCoy’s first year that our Oline did a good job of protecting Colt.
UT_BKC - November 7, 2009
Colt's Stats
UT_BKC - November 7, 2009
His Best Accomplishments Are "Lifetime Achievement" Awards
Sort of like the guys who get honorary Oscars when they are about to croak – even though they were like 0-7 when nominated in their prime.
Colt should be able to ride these facts to the Heisman:
1. Should be all time winningnest QB in CFB history (that good)
2. Should be all time most accurate QB in CFB history (that real good too)
3. Horns should be undefeated (really more of a defensive accomplishment)
realmccoy - November 8, 2009
Coaches Real Conservative With Running Game this year
realmccoy - November 8, 2009
Actually, bullet number 2 doesn’t care if we play in the MNC. We are all but locked into the big 12 title game, and are locked into a bowl game.
