We're almost two weeks 'til kickoff and I'm settled in here in beautiful Southern California, ready to turn my attention to the big game. First up on my to-do list: watch and annotate Alabama's destruction of Florida in the SEC Championship Game. I've got the game downloaded to my computer and queued up for a close watching, and decided that tomorrow will be dedicated exclusively to coverage of that game.
This will be an experiment of sorts -- never done something like this before -- but we'll see how it goes and try to have fun with it. I'm going to hit play on the tape at 11 a.m. Central Time and will begin watching and taking notes on the game. But rather than wait to post a huge series of notes at the very end, I'm going to post short observational posts throughout the day/game, aiming to conclude by 5 p.m. CT. The posts could be about a single play or drive, or a meta-level observation about the Crimson Tide and their season. I may wind up posting five times, or fifteen. We'll see.
But that'll be the plan, all day tomorrow, from 11 - 5, with plenty of opportunities for you to jump in with your own observations.
Talk to you then.

Why is the Florida game...
The one that’s indicative of Bama? Why not Auburn? Why not Kentucky or LSU?
Just playing devil’s advocate here.
But Florida was clearly not fully focused. The head coach is hospitalized shortly after the game. The DC announces he’d been in contact with Louisville. Dunlap was suspended. Spikes wasn’t at full strength.
Not saying that to take anything away from Bama, but maybe just maybe this isn’t the best game to break down.

Prepare for the worst case scenario

also, saban has a nasty habit of learning from experience...
he used the collapse in last year’s SECCG as a means to focus his team and prepare for this game. he’s very likely to use the sugar bowl faceplant in the same manner. to expect the same situation as what happened 356 days ago is not a wise course of action. best to expect the monster and figure out how to kick him in the fracas.

For the same reason
that RBR probably wouldn’t focus on the Oklahoma or Nebraska games for scouting the Longhorns. You want to see a team firing on all cylinders.
