Exactly an hour from now, I'll hit play on the video of the SEC Title Game between Alabama and Florida, and for the next six hours, inch my way through it, pausing to jot down and type up notes about the contest. It'll be a novel experiment here at the site -- neither quite an open thread nor a live blog -- as I throw up a series of posts throughout the six-hour window. An individual post may be devoted to discussing a single play, or an entire quarter. Without any firm plan about what will be covered, or how, the experiment may end with five posts, or fifteen.
I guess we'll see. The video starts at 11:00 a.m. The first post will arrive sometime shortly thereafter.
Should be fun, and I hope both Texas and Alabama fans will jump in with thoughts in the comments throughout.

Try secsports.com
secsports.com has a streaming version for free and a dowloadable version for $3.99. You still have time.
BTW, the version they have has all of the commercials removed. awesome.

Question for Longhorns....
If Alabama was going to watch one Texas game to get a feel of what you guys are capable of, what game should we watch? Oklahoma? Ok State? Texas Tech?
martincr70 - December 23, 2009
Great minds...
…I was going to say the same thing and ask if there is anywhere online that I can easily find a copy to watch.

Nevermind. It cost $$$

OK, IT DOES WORK. REALLY.
Watching Ok State vs. Texas.

You would see quite a contrast in play between those games. To see Texas at their best this year, I would probably say Ok State or Mizzou. You can see some serious weaknesses exposed with A&M, OU and Neb games.

the ou game wasn't as close as the score though
people keep saying about how bad we played in the ou game, granted it was terrible
but we beat ourselves, and haven’t seen that kind of lack of execution since
even in the nebraska game, suh beat us, plain and simple, so unless rolando mcclain grows 3 inches and 30 pounds and lines up at nose tackle we won’t be seeing that again
alabama is a very very good team, i’m not taking that way from them
but to compare their front line to nebraska’s is way too simple and it looks solely at numbers
i’d compare ‘bamas offense to what osu was able to do, and with a few drops here and there by them, that’s actually a close game
and i’d compare their defense right with oklahoma’s and like i was saying the score isn’t indicative of the game
follow me:
our first drive we get the ball on the 31, fumble – take away at least 3 points
muffed punt that actually should’ve been a touchdown for us but we got a field goal – take away 4 points
following drive, colt fumbles at the 1 – take away 7 points
fourth quarter interception by colt in which goodwin ran the wrong route – take away 7 points
that’s at least 21 points we left on the field
now mistakes are gonna happen … i’m well aware of that, but let’s look at that game in context before we reference it
abcdmetrius - December 23, 2009
actually on that last int let's just say take away at least 3, but you get where i'm going
abcdmetrius - December 23, 2009
ou's defense was really good, but we didn't help ourselves either
abcdmetrius - December 23, 2009
agreed with all the above
Not that those games would be comparable to what we can expect on Jan 7th, but I would still say those are the games to look at in consideration of where we could be dismantled, if at all.
Infield Elephant - December 23, 2009
could you suggest a team texas played
that has a similar style of play to alabama? meaning a 3-4 defense with a premium on stopping the run.
kleph - December 23, 2009
ucf maybe?
abcdmetrius - December 23, 2009
thanks
kleph - December 23, 2009
offense of defense?
abcdmetrius - December 23, 2009
Okie State...
Not only was it the highest ranked win we got… But it was a road game in a very hostile environment. (Halloween night)
Our defense played well as did our offense and Special Teams.

***
I think if Zac Robinson doesn’t get hurt Okie State is likely in a BCS bowl instead of the Cotton bowl.
