Having to work the first part of the day, into the SEC game. My stomach is turning over and I can’t focus on anything. I’m glad we’ve got a night game, but I may very well pass out by then. Bring it on already so I can rest for a few weeks.
Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009
Strangely...
I’m not nervous. I think it must be my faith in Colt’s decision making and Coach Boom’s adjustment capability.
Let’s hope all our boys come ready to play and fired up. I want to see Husker helmets rolling around the field.
UT2001 - December 5, 2009 via mobile
It is strange
Everything tells me that I need not worry or be nervous, but I still get that gut wrench in the 24 hrs to a week prior to games like this.
I too have faith in these guys. As long as Team Boom and the Goon Squad resemble the first 11 games, I expect the rolling of said helmets.

Defensive Performance against Aggies = Huge Plus Today
I could be crazy – but the Aggie defensive effort will create an intensity that will rain down on the Huskers all day.
realmccoy - December 5, 2009
no doubt
I can’t imagine anyone allowing a repeat. They will most def be fired up. I want to see explosions and hear pops on tv.

Pat Forde

Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009
creating stories
I think the media is hurting for storylines this year, so they perpetuate these stories without any support. They disregard coaches coming out and denying interest. On the other hand, it’s certainly not uncommon for coaches to say on thing and do another, unfortunately.
On a completely different note, why is it that ESPN reports speak sooooo slowly during their sign off?
—I..n……..M…a..i..n..e………………, I’mmmm …………………A..r…c…t…i…c…l…o..n..g…h…o..r…n…….., B…O…NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.

Not Good Fit For Will
That is not the right job for a DC to jump into. Too much of a media circus, too complex politics, national recruiting efforts to direct – think Will not be the guy there. However, I do not feel he will replace Mack – just too much money to be made and Mack is not going anywhere. Mack is getting better every year, energy level higher every year – I am guessing he has at least 5-10 years left. Will headed to Georgia in 2011 to succeed Richt. Richt fired the coordinators this year, another bad year and his head gets chopped. Saban to Bama, Kiffin to Tenn has Ga teetering on the edge of irrelevance.

Desmond Howard Leaves Colt off of Heisman Ballot
Figures one of the least deserving winners (over Peyton Manning?) of all time would not get it right.
realmccoy - December 5, 2009
Charles Woodson won over Peyton Manning
Don’t know who Howard won over, but he had the highest margin of victory ever at that time.

I have gotten so sick of the Tebow fest on ESPN
that I am now watching EPL..

laxtonto - December 5, 2009

Hopkins Horn - December 5, 2009

laxtonto - December 5, 2009
Even Tebow has to be sick of all his media coverage
ArcticLonghorn - December 5, 2009
think i just threw up a little in my mouth
will we see as much of Colt prior to Big XII?
Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009
I am so sick of this that I hope FL gets blown out and Tebow gets crippled the first play
This is getting ridiculous…
laxtonto - December 5, 2009
Hopefully in jest on your second point
realmccoy - December 5, 2009
yeah...
I am curious what they would do for media coverage if he got knocked out? It is pretty obvious that the entire set of stock productions for the entire game will have a Tebow flavor. If Tebow is out they either have to use the stuff they have prepared for Bama or just go with dead air.
laxtonto - December 5, 2009
or a whole lot of sideline shots of Tebow… less attention on the game. And then of course Bama only won because he was out.
Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009
Really Think Colt Beats Media Machine for the Heisman
I think finishing as the all time winningnest QB and most accurate of all time will resonate.
realmccoy - December 5, 2009
You would think so...
But I’ve heard numerous “unbiased reporters” say that tebows best quality is that he is an ultimate winner..sure he wins alot but ultimate means most so hopefully your right
jacobb23 - December 5, 2009 via mobile
not prepared to do this, but in the same spirit of our drinking game with mention of roommates, fathers, brothers, etc., how ugly could it get with CBS mention of missionary, bible verse, roommates, the speech, etc.

All the anticipation over a NU upset
Might actually help Texas with public opinion if it’s a blowout, right? 3 weeks ago no one thought this would even be close, but BCS chaos-mongering lulled many into believing Nebraska has a very good chance. Which should make a hefty game by McCoy much more convincing, if it happens.

Collaros is better on the shorter passes though, so it’ll be harder for Cincy to come from behind quick enough with him. Still easier than if Pike keeps throwing INTs, though, so BK really should make the switch.

Hopkins Horn - December 5, 2009
What is the BCS order?
Sugar, fiesta, then what?
Texas Wahoo - December 5, 2009 via mobile
General projections
If GT wins tonight, it’s generally believed that the bowls would be:
Sugar: SEC-Big East
Orange: GT-TCU
Fiesta: Big 10-Boise
Not sure what order. The complication which emerges with a Clemson victory, though, is that it would set up an unwanted and unnecessary rematch between TCU and Clemson.
That would probably shift the bowls to:
Sugar: SEC-TCU
Orange: Clemson-Big East
Fiesta: Boise-Big 10
Apparently, there’s very little chance of the Fiesta taking the Big East winner, particularly Pitt, unless they absolutely have to, since there’s some lingering resentment about the 45 fans Pitt brought to Tempe five years ago.
Hopkins Horn - December 5, 2009
And of course the other complication which could happen is . . .

he is a true freshman, after all. He could end up pretty scary in a couple of years.
Pflash - December 5, 2009
Did you watch ESPN during the 1st half of the season?
Matt Barkley was the 2nd coming of Tebow. They all said how he was playing way beyond his years. He was majorly hyped through the first half of the season before USC imploded. Sure, he could improve, but he was overrated and overhyped this year.
LonghornEm - December 5, 2009
yeah, ok, that's fair...
he was certainly overhyped. The “epic” drive against Ohio State, where he basically gave the ball to McKnight and let him take the team on his shoulders… only to get all the credit for “leading” the drive. I guess he deserved credit for not fumbling the snap or the handoff, but…
I just think we tend to pile on a little unfairly, he certainly showed some good stuff, and like I said, he is a freshman. And he’s no more over-credited than Tebow, at least…
Pflash - December 5, 2009
No one is more over-credited than Tebow

“Come watch the real National Ch—er, the SEC Championship Game with some obnoxious fans, featuring the two best teams in the nation playing for the right to play in the BCS National Championship Game.”
Makes me want to punch kittens.
LonghornEm - December 5, 2009

That’s how enraged I am by delusional SEC fans.

brownf - December 5, 2009
well, it is a town of front-runners...
Pflash - December 5, 2009
i won't be able to stand Verne for long.
Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009

Ohio Horn - December 5, 2009

Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009
I am going tolaugh when Bama marches up and down on FL
with the spread with McElroy lighting them up
laxtonto - December 5, 2009
Forget the contest,
it’s obvious now that McElroy deserves the Heisman. I’m sending in my ballot at the half.
horndude - December 5, 2009
Hang on
McCoy has not even touched the field.
He has another day like aTm and its all his,
But I will take another NC over a Heisman anyday.
jcbates - December 5, 2009
im pretty sure horndude was being sarcastic…lol
MJY6087 - December 5, 2009
me too
I was neutral about who I wanted to win, but that would be hilarious to see
LonghornEm - December 5, 2009
Vern has lost a few steps.

25_1A - December 5, 2009
it is much easier for him to just say Tebow
laxtonto - December 5, 2009
I remember him . . .

laxtonto - December 5, 2009

brownf - December 5, 2009
It's not surprising about that front-running fanbase at all
Hopkins Horn - December 5, 2009
They made a huge mistake when they scheduled the game

horndude - December 5, 2009
it wasn't even close
it’s like, sc football is soooo 2004.
zissou - December 5, 2009

LonghornEm - December 5, 2009

I think Ferrell is a USC alum, so he’s OK
Hopkins Horn - December 5, 2009

Ohio Horn - December 5, 2009
Would she be the first female med student to win the Heisman?
Dear PAC-10,
Pretty sure more people opted to watch footballs being thrown at giant soda cans than click over to watch any of your marquee game in LA. How’s that Bush investigation coming along?
Lincoln - December 5, 2009
What investigation?
Who’s dare to investigate Reggie?
Horns98 - December 5, 2009
They’ve spent more time to investigate VY suicide incident than what had happened to Bush.
Horns98 - December 5, 2009
Yeah,
His family probably still rolling in their nice house and new cars.
Actually, they moved on up after he got drafted in the NFL.

Displaced Longhorn - December 5, 2009
Spencer Tillman can suck it.
And Brando should be working for free. “In all due respect to the NFL, this is the best football environment ever.” Um, where was he on January 4, 2006?
TXStampede - December 5, 2009
PB has posted tonights open game thread. I'm just saying.
TXStampede - December 5, 2009

cj43 - December 5, 2009
ingram looked like fozzy on that play.
25_1A - December 5, 2009
in a "sprint laterally to the sideline way"
25_1A - December 5, 2009
think this game will overlap with ours?
Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009
possible
if SEC refs find some way to give Teblows an extra 5 timeouts as the Gators attempt a 4th quarter comback
7Swords of Salat - December 5, 2009
isn't our game on abc?
abcdmetrius - December 5, 2009

7Swords of Salat - December 5, 2009
TD!
Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009
McElroy decides to show up for the "real NC game"
Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009
Love seeing little jesus
for what will probably be the last relevant game he’ll ever be in. Good-bye Mr. “I like to put scriptures on my face”.
UT92 - December 5, 2009
the GOAT came back from double digits down in the 4th in a NC game
let’s see Tebow dow the same.
25_1A - December 5, 2009
BAMA getting violent
25_1A - December 5, 2009
I thought Florida had a defense
Or is it just Bama’s running game that’s good?
UT92 - December 5, 2009
bama's run is way good
but Florida does look weaker than I thought
Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009
some huge passes this game too
Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009
Saban is a wicked good coach
MeatchickenHorn - December 5, 2009
Tebow has a 2-5 record when losing in the 2nd half.
He’s just a winner!
HornPossessed - December 5, 2009
Scared to face McElroy
Anybody feel the same?
ms_pras - December 5, 2009
Not in the slightest.
Neither of these QBs worry me at all.
HornPossessed - December 5, 2009
Looking extremely good today...
Hopefully we can do enuf to disrupt their offense
ms_pras - December 5, 2009
Bama's offense hasn't looked all that good all year.
D has been solid, but this is the first time I’ve seen the offense do this. Especially McElroy
Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009
They want Florida to at least try and win
MeatchickenHorn - December 5, 2009
Bama gameplanned for this game bigtime.....
Florida said “Were Florida” beat us
MeatchickenHorn - December 5, 2009
Tebow
He has been a average college qb but a great leader for his team. Guess now maybe Percy Harvin may have been their MVP.
I still can’t believe the Jacksonville Jaguars owner was quoted as saying he might want Tebow…Surely not the first round…and just this week Jim Kelly said Tebow is the kind of guy the Bills need to turn their franchise around…Just can’t see him being an NFL qb.
I love how Verne and Gary Tebow Danielson can diagnose McElroy with a hip pointer and no one has said anything or shown any evidence of injury
sportsfantx - December 5, 2009
How would things have been different
if Applewhite was still at Alabama? Are they better/worse? Are we better/worse?
ms_pras - December 5, 2009
His contribution to our offense is not very clear to me...
ms_pras - December 5, 2009
No effect...
I see no effect for game day prep or execution…In all honesty I think Applewhite may have been too imaginative for Saban….He likes the offense he has now….
However I do think where Applewhite makes a difference is in recruiting for Texas…I have nothing to back that claim up but I just feel that way.
sportsfantx - December 5, 2009
i agree with recruiting
as well as morale, but he’s got brains. I’d like to hear more on that.
Infield Elephant - December 5, 2009
Tebow wept
