I will say this much this year Texas team isn’t, as good as it was suppose to be we came back with a senior O-Line that haves to be some of the worst guys blocking in all of Fbs at times a Quarter Back who is just really been off all season and a offensive coordinator Name Greg Davis who fucking runs the most random plays i have ever seen
We really need some changes Before The Bcs National Championship Game .
Right now im Calling this year Season the Curse of the Big Three
Tebow, McCoy ,Bradford Damn you Espn
Man, for a sec there, I thought it was going to miss.
Wow. What an ending. This is the kind of ending that propels a team to greatness. It’s also the kind of game that brings kids back down to earth after thinking they are invincible. WE NEEDED THIS GAME.
The more I consider it, the greater that kick becomes.
To have made that kick, in front of the most scrutinizing fanbase in the country, in front of a monopolized national television audience (which no doubt increased as word of a potential upset spread), with all of your teammates watching (after working hard all year to remain undefeated), in the face of a solid push by Nebraka’s intimidating defensive line, and after the heart-thumping and uncertain distractions of that last-second clock controversy…
I keep thinking it’s gonna miss. God that was so close. I just think that this is a team of destiny. When we’re down we get back up. If the defense slacks off then the offense picks it up and vice versa. Game after game this team finds a way to win in close games. Even at the start of that very last drive with about 90 seconds left when most were accepting defeat I just felt it in my gut that somehow someway we would get the yardage and pull it out.
Everyone in the media and all over the country for that matter can trash Texas, hell nothing has stopped them this year anyway, but this team has heart. And a hell of a lot of it for that matter. I’m proud of these guys. I’ve got a lot of faith in this team even when they may screw up here and there. Others may think we’ll get blown out by Bama, hell many of the same said we’d get blown out by USC for that matter, but I like our chances.
and I decided to watch the actual field goal (not a video screen), and the kick was on the other side of the field from where I was sitting, and I could have sworn I saw it go wide left. It took me a second to realize that the roar of elation was coming from all the people around me, and not the other side of the stadium.
USC did not have a great defense. I just think Bama is a bad matchup for y’all. For what it’s worth, I knew after Nu kicked the ko out of bounds that y’all would kick the fg to win it
All week the pundits have talked about how it could be a close game and how Nebraska’s defense could hold them in the game. Well it actually happened that way and instead of giving Nebraska credit their bashing Texas. What a hipocritical world we live in.
All week the word has been “this will be a closer game than you think…ndamukong suh…pash rush etc etc…”, yet when it actually happens they say “Nobody gave NU a chance”. I sorry everyone had this as a potential upset. They act sooo surprised.
Most of the recent PKs — Mangum, Pino, Bailey — were walk-ons who made good. Johnson was on full scholarship for 2-3 years, but he kicked at Vanderbilt as a freshman before tranferring.
of Texas-Arkansas 1969. After the bomb from Street to Peschel, and the ensuing TD by Bertelsen that tied the game at 14, holder Donnie Wigginton had to go higher than Shipley did to get the snap down for Happy Feller’s winning point-after.
But they still had a ridiculous amount of first rounders on that team. Just like bama. Look at it this way, this is just like 2005, just flip the close call from Ohio State to the Big XII Championship. Every champion has them. Would you rather of blown them out and have everyone sucking our polls right now?
to go into this game. Let Ingram get the statue, let him get the distractions. Let Bama hear for a month how they’re going to walk over us for a big crystal ball. Let us hear from espn1 thru espn99 that we shouldn’t be there.
Then, lets come out, play like it’s the last game of the year, and kick some ass.
Must comment on the poor play of Texas’ offensive line. The total pits! 9 sacks!! And then no adjustment by the offensive coordinator on play calling. Wow. We were as lucky as it gets to come away with a win.
Team – please spend whatever time is necessary over the next month to revamp your offensive line play. ‘Bama will kick your butts, if you don’t.
What was it really…don’t want McCoy to win the Heisman after all??
I would like to have seen some attempts to run "at" the Husker D rather than around them. With Cody size, I think he might have had more success than Tre’ at breaking tackles and gaining 3-4 yards on first down. At a minimum, it might have forced Nebraska to play more linebackers as opposed to DBacks. Specifically, on the last series, I would have preferred a couple of power running plays to the middle of the filed compared to crap GD called. God, there are days I miss a dominate “in your face” running back.
If we have any chance to beat Alabama, we better find a running game QUICK.
Oh…..not to single our any player or play, but how big was the Kirkendoll dropped TD pass. Colt’s passing numbers would look much better and he would have added a passing TD to offset the INTs. So, does this play keep Colt from winning the Heisman.
we aren't just going to develop a running game 12 games in...
And we’ve proven we can win without one… What killed us on offense was the absolutely atrocious interior line play that will be our downfall unless GD can use the next 33 days to get a real screen game together.
But I wondered if Kirkendoll WANTED to catch anything…ZERO receptions, no effort, too many drops to remember.
Buckner had the ball in both hands (last INT) and let a DB take it away. Inexcusable…should have been ruled a fumble.
Offensive line was shredded and got their asses whipped.
Colt wasn’t bad or great…he was fairly good but occasionally goofy. He missed some throws, but his numbers don’t reflect all the drops and the difficulty of throwing with Suh in his face.
Greg Davis…well, he was our OC and that didn’t help.
Our kickoffs and kick coverage sucked. We had a punt blocked…sheesh.
This is depressing…our defense was really good against a not-so-good offense…we need both offense and defense to show up and play to have a chance against Alabama.
What a kick!
I watched the game last night with 2005 National Championship sweat shirt on, and was standing as Hunter was preparing for his winning kick. He came through in the biggest of stages! Looks like he may have improved his chances to kick in the NFL?
I’m a Texas-Ex living in Philly, and the Eagles’ David Akers is getting old and will probably retire soon. May be the Eagles should select Hunter Lawrence in next year’s draft?
because he hasn’t (at this point, anyway) showed the leg strength to be an effective KO man.
Hunter was the KO man part of his freshman year and, I think, as a sophomore. And, side issue, I think it’d be good to replace Tucker with Lawrence on KOs now. I hold my breath every time we kick off.
Can I rec this 100 times?
That’s it for me. Will sleep well tonight. With bated breath for the final BCS standings tomorrow.
Hook ’em.

Reminds me of a certain kick by a certain Texas kicker in a certain stadium in Cali.

The first kicker Mack has given a full four year scholarship to ?

Yes, unless there was a kicker

You men Are Forgetting Something
If Shipley hadn’t of got the ball down ther would have been no kick.
Look at the snap again it came in high but Jordan calmly plucked it out of the air and perfectly placed it down and the rest goes into Longhon lore.
