Baseball Loses Game Two 7-1, Game Three -- 3 PM

Both Stanford and Texas were due for this game. Brandon Workman was very solid, but his command was just off, leading to a 7-1 Stanford victory and snapping the Horns' win streak at 11. The game was far closer than the final score would indicate, and the appearance of Jordan Etier, Preston Clark and Russell Moldenhauer in the starting lineup for the first time all season are all positives to take away from this one.

As we said in the preview, taking just one game of the series was an acceptable outcome, but two of three would be fantastic and say a lot about this team's ability to fight back.

It'll likely be Cole Green on the mound against Max Fearnow (starter in the two previous Sunday's for the Tree). Despite his name, Fearnow has been pretty poor to start the season (0-2, 10.57 ERA), whereas Cole Green has been lights out despite getting only one run of support during his two starts.

Game starts at 3 PM Central.

LSU loses the rubber game of the weekend

Drops the series to the Ilini at home.

Illini

8-2 on the year now, might have a pretty good squad.

Aggy lost game 2 to Utah, but is up 5-2 in game 3. They’ve now been shut out twice on the young season. Looking like UNC will go 2-1 this weekend as well. If we win this game we’ve got a pretty good shot at being #1 in Baseball American come Monday.

Horns load the bases in the first

But fail to score

Been a theme recently
Green pitching

5 balls in 6 pitches so far

Strikeout, 4-6-3 DP

0-0 through 1

Good job getting out of the inning

Stanford’s camera is not as good as ours – the pictures on my comp sucks

Yea, it's pretty terrible
It's AWFUL!
It looks like a high school computer science student

put in the scoreboard section at the top

Rupp hits one hard to dead center

Caught on the warning track

Listening to the Stanford feed I almost fell asleep

Where’s the excitement? Or at least the interest?

I'm pretty sure they're students

Hard to get too upset…

Keyes pops up to first on a 3-1 pitch

If so - I want that job

But I guess I’m not a student anymore… I keep forgetting how old I have become

Tucker described as "pretty much their leadoff guy"

Then says Texas hasn’t gotten any runners today…other than loading the bases in the first

haha - I heard that
Not the best color man in the business for nothing.
1-2-3

Two quick groundouts then a flyout to center on 3-0…
0-0 through 2

I had no idea Stanford had lost 6 in a row
3 to CSF

Who is beating up on Southern Miss this weekend

Somebody didn't read the preview :-)
Leadoff walk

Stanford pitcher is a frosh making his first career start

Did he get doubled off???

Missed it

Loy doesn't get the bunt down

Bunting quality has been way down the last few games…Loy lines out to 2nd, Etier doubled off first

Belt grounds out meekly
Gorgeous

1-2-3, two groundouts and a beautiful curveball to strike out the third. 0-0 through 3

Flyout to left on 3-1 pitch

Oy

Tant singles to right on 3-1 pitch
Tight strike zone tonight

Another 3-1 count to David Hernandez

Ball 4

Horns have something going for Cameron Rupp, one out

2 on, 1 out - gotta make something out of this
Pitching change
Rupp singles!

1-0 Horns

Nice! RBI single

Horns 1-0

Woo - 1-0 good guys
Another 3 ball count to Keyes
Now it's full
Keyes ahead 3-0

I hope he doesn’t take the green light again and fly out to right

3-2 now
Ball 4

Bases loaded!

Walk - bases loaded 1 out!
Come on Connor!
Damn - 2 called strikes
2-2 count
Damn

Strike three looking, 5 pitches, didn’t move the bat

Bases full of Horns

Connor Rowe up, Keyes walked

Damnit! Rowe strikes out without swinging the bat
2-0 count with bases loaded
Yessir!

Jordan Etier! 2 run single! 3-0 Horns

Runners advance on an error on the throw

2nd and 3rd, 2 outs

Way to fill in for our "pretty much lead-off hitter"!
2 run single!

Runners on second and third still

Phew!

Glad we capitalized

2 run single!!!!

5-0 Texas

Loy singles down the right field line!

5-0 Horns!

Bats on fire!

5-0 Horns!

Damn...Loy caught stealing haha
Loy and Etier are going to be players

Loy caught stealing though :-)

5-0 Horns through 3.5

Runner caught off first

But good inning for the Longhorns – finally strung some hits together

Florida State is in free fall - losing 5 out of the their last 6

And not against top competition

1 out walk
Double play!!
So...I understand this is a college baseball team broadcast...

But these camera angles and announcers are horrible.

Now the play-by-play guy is taking over

Ugh

This sounds like the

“Boom! Goes the Dynamite!” college guy is calling this game now.

He just said the Stanford pitcher that gave up 5 runs had a good outting
Lol..

Well…I just put it on mute. Can’t stand that mess.

Wow

3-6-1 DP

5-0 Horns through 4

Double Play! Great fielding
Aggy up 10-7

Bases loaded, top 9, nobody out

2 RBI single

10-9, runners at the corners, nobody out still

10-10

runners at the corners nobody out still.

11-10 Utah

Fielders choice, two outs, runner on second

11-10

TAMU at bat

Flyball...caught
E6 on Aggy

10-10, nobody out, still runners on the corners

Aggy has 6 errors today

And this is a Utah squad that lost 3 of 4 to Loyola Marymount and 1 to Cal State Bakersfield

Clark smoked that one

But caught at the wall

Solo shot to lead off the 5th for Stanford

5-1

Ouch! Stanford HR
Bottom 9

11-10 Utes!

Rowe plays a nice center

Tree goes 1-2-3 after the leadoff homer, first hit off Green…5-1 through 5

Anyone see that Illinois took the series from LSU
Yep

My dad went to UI and he was like “we have a baseball team?”

Ball 4

Aggy leads off the 9th with two straight singles

Sac bunt

Aggy with 2nd and 3rd, 1 out

bases full 1 out
Keyes singles

1st and 2nd, 1 out

Aggy with bases loaded, 2 outs
Bases loaded walk

11-11

And again - A&M wins
12-11

bases loaded

And another

4 pitch walk ends it, Aggy wins 12-11…none too impressed with them so far though

Dang

Rowe Ks, Etier grounds out to short

5-1 Bot 6

1-2-3 goes the Tree

5-1 Horns through 6

Poor Stanford fans

The play-by-play guy is leaving and they’re putting that guy in charge?

Everything he says sounds like a question

“Hit down the left field line?”

2 walks

’horns on first and second with 1 out

Pitching change?
yep Fiero? is coming in
Fearnow

C’mon Tant!

Dang

6-4-3 DP, well played by Stanford

Stretch time, 5-1 Horns

1 pitch, 1 out

Fly to center

Revenge of the Green

Single then strikes out the dude that homered the last time around
2 out, man on 1st

Single through the left side

2 on, 2 out

Bet this is Cole's last batter
Pop out to second

5-1 through 7

At least these announcers haven't been homers

They’ve been pretty objective…
Keyes walks, Rowe up, 2 out

Hits it hard, right at the SS

5-1 through 7.5

Austin Wood on
Fly to right, 1 away
Fly to center, 2 away
Pop to first

Through 8, 5-1 good guys

1-2-3

5-1 Bot 9

Single, balk

Man on second, nobody out

Get the lead runner on a fielder's choice
Great play by Hernandez

Fielders choice gets the lead runner at 3rd

Why go after the lead runner there? Just to keep the double play in order?
I think he was already leaning that way and it was the easier play

Although with these camera angles it’s hard to tell

Fly to right, one more out!
Fly to left

Ball game!

Big win!

12-1 on the year!

Always a good weekend when you take 2 out of 3 from Stanford in Palo Alto
2 out of 3

Not too shabby…

Another great start from Cole Green, and one big inning on offense got the job done.
