Baseball Travels to Lincoln

[Update 4:56 PM]: Horns take game one 7-5 in a game that wasn't as close as the final score would indicate, until Nebraska threatened in the 9th. Game two start time should be around 6:05 and is allegedly on TV.

Texas travels to Lincoln to take on a struggling Nebraska squad. Texas has had surprisingly good luck on the road in Lincoln the last two visits (4-2) against some really good Nebraska teams, including a 16-inning loss in 2005. Ironically, Nebraska has had a lot of success in Austin the last two visits (4-2). Taking two of three this weekend would be huge as the Horns close with 16 of their last 19 in Austin. Some notes:

  • Cole Green is probably your undisputed Sunday starter. With only four more Sundays left in the regular season, we doubt Augie is going to mess with the rotation. Whether Green or Jungmann gets the third postseason start, if there is one, is another story.
  • Texas has lost three straight Saturday starts and won just one Saturday start since Penn State. Meanwhile, despite Green's struggles, Texas has lost just one Sunday start.
  • Texas' six runs on Tuesday gives the Horns 6+ runs in five of the last eight games (5-0 scoring 6+, 1-2 below 6) after going 10 straight games without scoring 6 runs.

Double double-header?

Given the weather forecasts you put up, it appears that Texas is facing two double-headers?

Is there any other way to follow the game besides the Husker Live Feed

I cannot get it up at work

Yes!

A video system that doesn’t require Microsoft silverlight! I can actually see the picture

http://www.huskers.com/liveEvents/liveEvents.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&DB_LANG=&IN_SUBSCRIBER_CONTENT=&KEY=&DB_OEM_ID=100&DB_LANG=&IN_SUBSCRIBER_CONTENT=
put that link into the regular text, I cant copy it
I guess you have to sign up as well
3 Ks for Huskers pitcher already, dang
Is there some gamecast or something elsewhere

I just cannot get the video to work

I'm in the same boat
the video worked for me...

I clicked on the link, and then I selected the link for “play now” or something, rather than the “sign up” one. I don’t know if that helps.

Tant solo shot

1-0 Texas!

HR for Shepard - Texas up 1
This camera man needs to work on his craft...
Rupp homers!

2 runs!

3-0 Texas

The video doesn't work, but there is semi-nice play-by-play on the side

looks like something from the early 90s tho

Moldenhauer struck out swinging (1-2 KKFFBS).
Shepherd, T. homered to right field, RBI (3-2 BKKBB).
          Keyes, K. walked (3-1 FBBBB).
Rupp, C. homered to right field, 2 RBI (3-1 BBS); Keyes, K. scored.
Loy, B. reached on a fielding error by 3b (1-1 KB).
Rowe, C. grounded into double play 2b to ss to 1b (0-0); Loy, B. out on the play.
          3 runs, 2 hits, 1 error, 0 LOB

1 pitch, 1 out for Ruffin
Groundout, beautiful catch by Tant ends the inning

3-0 Texas through 2

Wow, that was an amazing catch.

I don’t know who made it. Who plays left field?

Great diving play by Shepherd to retire the side.

Moving right on a well-hit ball, had to leave his feet, not quite full extension, but a very nice play, nonetheless.

Leadoff walk for Tucker

Good crowd here today :-)

Torres really drove that one, no luck

Looked like a long out at the Disch.

Anybody else a Rangers fan?

They’re getting beat by a nifty 14 – 1. I’ll trade that for a nice day by the Horns any day, though.

They're 3-0

Well…3-1

No, thank God.
haha

Don’t blame me, I grew up in Dallas. I got out and haven’t gone back, though.

No problem with Rangers fans,

as long as you want to subject yourself to that, go right ahead. :)

It's a special relationship.
That stadium just eats pitchers alive

with that rock-hard infield and balls flying out of there every which way. Almost as bad as Coors Field in some ways.

Yeah, the jetstream is almost magical.
Ground out by Belt, Tucker now at third, two down.
Almost beat that one out...
Nice play by the first baseman on a chopper,

Longhorns go down in the top of the third, still 3-0 Texas.

Leadoff single for nebraska
Called strike three

One away

Thanks for the updates

I gave up on that system

Fly out to center

2 away

Pop out ends the inning

I’m heading to the gym if somebody else can take updates

Shepherd back at the plate...
Shepherd, single that got by the 2nd baseman
Yost picks Shepherd off at 1st base, 1 out
What was that?

Shepherd picked off easily, didn’t even make it back to the bag.

Wow Keyes with a rip for a triple

ball thrown into dugout, error and Keyes scores. 4-0 Texas.

is that a triple with an error?

Yes. haha

Keyes has a sweet swing when he keeps it short.
Just heard a fine lady in the crowd starting a Texas Fight chant, very nice.
Single up the middle by Loy, first and third, one out.
Yost is done for after this
Sac fly, Rupp scores on a relatively short fly ball and poor throw, 5-0 Texas.
Woohoo, 5-0 looks good
This offense seems to have come a long way in the last two weeks.
Grounder to Yost by Tucker, inning over, two runs makes it 5-0.
Is this burger commercial voiceovered by Matthew McC?
2 walks for Ruffin, 2 men on, conference on the mound
That was one of the worst errors I've ever seen...

5-1 Texas.

Oooo ugly error... Belt hesistated on throwing to 2nd or to 1st, overthrew his toss to 1st and forced an error - Nebraska scores
Stupid play, he should have known when that ball kicked high he had no chance.
5-2 after a single
Double play 6-4-3 leaves a runner on 3rd, but 2 outs
Nice double play.
5-2 going into the 5th
Out of the inning...
Nice play by Loy on a long throw to end the inning.

That could have been worse but that double play was HUGE.

Is this going to be the usual doubleheader format...

with the second game coming 30 minutes after the first?

They said the second game will start no earlier than 6pm
Horns don't score in the top half of the 5th...

now 2 gone in the bottom, still 5-2.

Wow...

One reached on an error, then hit by pitch, then a single plus another error makes it 5-4. And we have 3 errors.

And Shinaberry comes in.
Groundout ends the threat.

5-4 through 5.

Keyes singles to lead off the 6th.
Really nice bunt by Rupp, Keyes to 2nd with one out.
Wild pitch (or passed ball) advances Keyes to 3rd.
Four hundred fouls later, Loy strikes out looking. 2 down.
Wow Loy strikes out on a pitch outside after long at bat
6-4!

RBI single for Rowe.

Groundout for Tucker. 6-4, bottom 6th.
K for Shinaberry, one down
Pitching change: Taylor Jungmann in.
Are they playing a full nine innings

in the first game or is the game shortened due to the double header?

full game as far as I know
Yup

Pretty sure it’s full

Ok thanks.

Also, thanks for the updates. Its nice to be able to keep up with the game and watch a weeks worth of DVR episodes at the same time.

Walk, fly out, strikeout

Jungmann gets out of it

6-4 through 6
Leadoff single for Torres
Steals second
RBI double for Belt!

7-4 Texas

Gald to see the offense is coming through
Flyout, groundout

2 away, Belt on third, be nice to get him to score

Keyes flies out

7-4 through 6.5

2 pitches, 2 outs

Flyout, groundout

And another groundout

5 pitch inning for Jungmann, just what the doctor ordered.

7-4 through 7

Flyout, groundout, strikeout

Headed to Bot 8, 7-4 Horns

Groundout, foul out to Belt, groundout

1-2-3, 7-4 Texas through 8

1 out, pitching change
1 out single by Torres

Belt grounds into a FC, Hernandez PH

Hernandez grounds out

Bottom 9, Horns up 3

Game two apparently is on TV

http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=3715719

Is this a tape delay type thing?

Says its start at 8 on TV

Leadoff single

Then big strikeout for Jungmann

Nebraska leadoff hitter up

He’s 0-4 with 4 ks

His best AB

Grounds out to pitcher…2 away, man on 2B

Great AB leads to a walk

Tying run at the plate, Austin Wood coming in

Dramatic last out.
now I would rather be watching
RBI bloop single

Runners on the corners, 7-5

gaaah! another hit, 7-5.
Pop to SS

Horns win!

7-5 Final

First Texas series opener win in Lincoln since 1997

Not the best year for UT sports
hopefully a preview of tonights game
Will there be a separate post for the next game?

Translation – where can I get my update?

I think we are in need of another post
