Gametime: 1 pm CT.
Game preview: Augie Garrido and Skip Johnson made the decision before the series to move Brandon Workman's start to Sunday, instead of his normal Saturday slot after lasting only 3.2 innings last week against Nebraska in the second game of a doubleheader. To make up for his lost work, he started the Wednesday game against the Beach Aggies and worked an efficient three innings during which he gave up nothing other than a solo home run, striking out three in the process. The switch worked well enough for Cole Green to gut his way through the second game Saturday, leaving it up to the flame-throwing Workman to complete the sweep and start consolidating the league lead after taking over first place with the second Saturday win.
Austin Wood won't be available after pitching brilliantly in both Saturday games, but since the Longhorns were not forced to use Taylor Jungmann, the stud freshman could pitch three of four innings, possibly even to close the game. No doubt that Skip Johnson would probably be happy getting three or four innings from Workman before handing the ball to Jungmann and asking him to close the door on the series.
The big OU bats may well break out of their general silence, as the Sooners have an extremely dangerous lineup full of players hitting .300 or over and heavy on left-handed hitters -- there's no rest for opponents at the bottom of the Sooners' lineup and big first baseman Aaron Baker is positively scary to me after taking two consecutive Chance Ruffin offerings well out of the ballpark in the first game Saturday -- he just managed to wait on the second pitch a little longer. And hit it a little farther. It may only be a matter of time on Sunday before balls starting finding the gaps, as many hard-hit balls in the first game on Saturday were hit right at Longhorn defenders.
The Sooners haven't announced their Sunday starter, but Antwonie Hubbard is the only OU starter besides Doyle and Porlier with an ERA under 8.78. Ultimately, that will matter less for the Longhorns than their approach at the plate, which continued to be much improved from the early part of the season.
No time to relax on Sunday. This is the time to show the killer instinct that makes trips to Omaha possible.
Remember when that seemed like a rite of summer for the Longhorns?

Good Pitching beats good Hitting
This team really reminds me of the 05 team. The team that went into Omaha and shut down every one. They also had some very timely hitting. I have been unable to catch many games this season, but I am really looking forward to the next month or so and the run that they could possibly make.
blazzinken - April 19, 2009
Man, that was one fun day :)
Sweeping OU would give Texas 10 straight wins for the second time this season and 12 of 13. Texas’ run totals the last 9 games: 8 6 7 11 9 5 8 7 6…remember when Kevin Keyes was hitting .220? He’s now at .320. Can June get here fast enough?
40AS - April 19, 2009
I was thinking yesterday that I hope the team doesn't peak too soon.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Is anyone going to run a live thread of the game?
Ill be at the ranger game and wont be able to follow gametrack.
future_longhorn_dad - April 19, 2009
I can try for a bit here.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Sand Aggies?
I thought that was Texas Tech.
Should aTmCC be the Beach Aggies? Or Gulf Aggies? Bay Aggies? Port Aggies?
patienthornsfan - April 19, 2009
Oops, Beach Aggies I meant.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
BoydsWorld now has us as needing to go 10-5 for a top 8 RPI finish
That’s certainly doable. Much better than the 18-1 it was at one point.
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
Texas strands runners at the corners in the bottom of the 1st.
patienthornsfan - April 19, 2009
Bloop hit into center knocked down by the wind, two on two out for Sooners in second.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Bases loaded for OU, 2 outs for workman
ryanlionrah - April 19, 2009
Walk to load the bases for lead-off hitter. Bear down Brandon!
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Torres couldn't catch wind blown pop up in foul territory
followed by a single up the middle that scores two, Sooners take first lead of series, 2-0.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Torres or Rupp?
patienthornsfan - April 19, 2009
Rupp should've taken that :(
OU scores 2 after dropped fly pop-up
ryanlionrah - April 19, 2009
Strikeout ends the inning, but two runs of damage.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Ugh - not a good inning for Workman
Can’t walk two guys in an inning – especially the bottom of the order
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
Wind really affecting things,
Rupp crushes one into the wind that got blown down in front of left fielder for a double.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Kevin Lusson draws a walk, battling back after going down 1-2.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Sac bunt by Loy, but Rowe strikes out on three pitches, leaving it for Tucker to get a hit.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Another strikeout on three pitches. Poor job by the Longhorns after threatening with two on and no one out.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Twisting, turning catch in the wind by Tant Shepherd, wind wreaking havoc.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Strikeout of the big-hitting Baker, two down.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Sharp base hit for a single to left.

Shepherd takes his second walk.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Strikeout for Keyes.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Need a two-out base hit finally.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Make it happen
40AS - April 19, 2009
Another walk loads the bases, fifth walk of the game, now on Kevin Lusson.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
You mean Kyle Lusson?
40AS - April 19, 2009
Nope, it's Kevin.
hornbone - April 19, 2009
Whoa
His career numbers now 2-2, 2 RBI
40AS - April 19, 2009
Yeah, with 3 walks.
hornbone - April 19, 2009
Walks him on four pitches, one run makes it 2-1.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Another walk on four pitches, 2-2 score, Richards can't find the plate.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
And those walks will drive Richards from the game, bases still loaded with two outs.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
So much for needing a hit.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
You got the sentiment right
40AS - April 19, 2009
OU giving out free money. .nt whills
Horn Brain - April 19, 2009

Thanks for the updates btw….
the1austin - April 19, 2009
OU now selling money at 50 cents on the dollar. .nt whills
Horn Brain - April 19, 2009
Ugh.
Was Loy also the kid that got thrown out stretching a single into a double? Or was that one of the Lussons?
Horn Brain - April 19, 2009
Brandon Loy caught between second and third on a Tucker bunt attempt, ends inning.
But the Longhorns put up a big crooked number, taking the lead with four runs in the inning. 4-2 Texas after three.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
That was quick
40AS - April 19, 2009
Two hard-hit balls to start the OU fourth, a double, then a home run that ties the game.
One out now.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Could see Taylor Jungmann quickly, who is warming up.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Another base hit, runner on first.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Skip Johnson out to the mound.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Call to the pen now, Jungmann will enter the game.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Jungmann coming in.
If Jungmann can throw balls into the mitt, we just need to keep batting like we have all weekend.
Horn Brain - April 19, 2009
Jungmann's body recoils violently after he throws.
Looks like he got smacked in the head with a bat.
Horn Brain - April 19, 2009
Single, runners now on the corners with one out.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Deep sac fly, Sooners take the lead again, 5-4, now two outs.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
What’s up with Workman? We need him back for the post-season. Thought the Beach Aggie game would be the confidence boost he needed.
patienthornsfan - April 19, 2009
Base hit up the middle, first and third again with two outs.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
6-3 ground out, but the Sooners respond with three runs of their own, OU 5-4.

Anyone know if we're on a curfew today?
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
Doubt it
Because of the DH yesterday, but not sure
40AS - April 19, 2009
Also could be...
Because Friday was a night game pushing the curfew late…still not sure
40AS - April 19, 2009

Lead off single for OU
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
Rupp catches a popup that he almost lost (apparently - the camera definitely lost it)
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
Quick Question
Baylor – OSU game cancelled today due to “field conditions”. Do they get to make that game up or does it leave both teams short a conference game? Might end up being the difference between sharing the conference title and winning it outright…..
patienthornsfan - April 19, 2009
Craig discussed it as if it would not be made up
Because they were past the 72 hour limit.
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
DP ends the inning for OU
OU bringing in their closer to get some work in

Incredible
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
Belt hits into a 1-2-3 DP - no runs scored
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
Dunno what to think about the SEC
It’s easy to dismiss them as over-rated, which they seem to be every year.
patienthornsfan - April 19, 2009
Arkansas is good - Tenn not so much
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
LSU loses it
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
Shep lines out to end the inning
Frustrating to get no runs with bases loaded and no outs
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
6 outs away
How much longer does Jungmann stay on the mound?
patienthornsfan - April 19, 2009
I'm sure Wood will come in for the 9th at least
The 8th if Jungmann gets in trouble
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
Wood AGAIN? I thought he’d be done after pitching twice yesterday. What is he, Superman?
He must be getting close to setting the record for appearances in Big XII games.
patienthornsfan - April 19, 2009
Leadoff single up the middle for OU
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
Jungmann gets the next two batters out (flyout + K)

Backhanded flip to second
End of the 8th
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
very nice play.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Craig Way says there is a time limit on the game
and that no inning would start after 4:15 and with the Longhorns set to come to bat, it would seem that the game would be over, as there’s no reason to hit with the lead if there is to be no ninth inning. We shall see here in a minute.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
The half inning has started, but no word on if the ninth will happen.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Two down quickly for the Horns, Maitland and Rupp ground out.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
A rare home ground out ends a win for the Longhorns, as no ninth inning.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - April 19, 2009
Great series for the Horns
big game against Rice coming up this week.
Texas Wahoo - April 19, 2009
