The game is now tied 4-4 and the comments are flowing deep and fast, so it's time to rewind and bring this baby home.
Workman is holding steady on the mound and LSU is close to having to dig into their tired bull pen.
Tonight's the night.

bassale47 - June 24, 2009

EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
Mahtook doubles, Mitchell Scores, 5-4 LSU
kriess - June 24, 2009
When have they shown one of our players family members?
Every damn shot is a lsu fan or their parent. Fuck espn
UT2001 - June 24, 2009
amen
drewsoph - June 24, 2009
+1
you’d think the Texas parents hated their children
EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
Can’t think of a one. They haven’t shown any Texas VIPs, either. Wonder if any (Mack, Barnes, Cat, Clemens, etc.) might be there.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
Workman did his best
Tip your cap to him, after saving Cole’s ass.
kriess - June 24, 2009
amen
Workman did yeomans’ work on the mound today.
The Mack Attack - June 24, 2009
i don't disagree
but the lsu lead makes me unhappy
EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
Yep, and he kept his pitches under control. He goes a little wild sometimes, but he was extremely solid.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
my internet is not acting like a 56k connection anymore :)
afhook08 - June 24, 2009

So LSU plays small ball and UT hits the long ball. OK
kriess - June 24, 2009

Not here.
TXStampede - June 24, 2009
you would think Ruffin is available if necessary right?
hayzer13 - June 24, 2009
Jungmann is probably the only one not available
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
i've muted ESPN and gone to craig way
I can’t stand all the LSU chanting. wth
EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009

EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
Get Wood in the game already
bassale47 - June 24, 2009

afhook08 - June 24, 2009

Texas just trying to hang on right now……..on the verge of getting ugly
silky51 - June 24, 2009
We are self impolding
kriess - June 24, 2009
*imploding
kriess - June 24, 2009
The situation is like basketball; teams get little runs.
Stopping the runs and staying close counts a lot.
Besides, they need a leader in there.
whills - June 24, 2009
Austin Wood coming in...
can he please not let a run in this time!
silky51 - June 24, 2009
Its only the 6th inning. The ship is not sinking yet
NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
I know
Just making an observation that we are imploding right now. We still have 12 outs left. Thats PLENTY.
kriess - June 24, 2009
but it's taking on water right now
silky51 - June 24, 2009
Long as it has some

NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
beat me to it.
jacobb23 - June 24, 2009
thank goodness
let’s hope wood is on. we need to see a BC-style performance. last chance to make an impression, Austin Baby
EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
still only the 6th fellas..
Cut 4 to 2 and tied it up once already..don’t give up
jacobb23 - June 24, 2009
keep austin wood.
horns23 - June 24, 2009
Two outs. Just force a dribbler.
I still can’t get over that damn high throw to first. When Belt has to jump to grab the throw, you’ve missed badly.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
we never give up on this team...you just cannot count them out.
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
having said that......the bleeding needs to stop now!
silky51 - June 24, 2009
and of course we're facing Schimpf
kriess - June 24, 2009
their lineup is daunting stat wise
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
annoucers
I hate to beat a dead horse but they are so ridiculous. a minute ago they referred to this as the bottom of the sixth. how the hell do they not know where we are in the ballgame?
horns23 - June 24, 2009
Tighten Schimpf up.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
No decent strike zone for Wood
kriess - June 24, 2009
2-1 count on Shrimp
kriess - June 24, 2009
What? Did it actually hit him?
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
no one will ever know
kriess - June 24, 2009
The umpires sure won’t.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
and it hit him
bases freaking loaded
kriess - June 24, 2009
If he's not gonna give Austin the outside corner, we're in trouble
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
Did not even touch that guy
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
he was hit by the glove. Not the ball
Ohio Horn - June 24, 2009
bases loaded
we’ve reached a critical moment in this championship game.
silky51 - June 24, 2009

burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009

EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
Austin Wood left his game in Austin against BC
he’s been terrible since!
silky51 - June 24, 2009

YEs I’m THAT superstitious
kriess - June 24, 2009
Thank God its over with

NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
The top of the 6th
kriess - June 24, 2009
Judas priest, end of a terrible inning.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
only 5 down..... oh nevermind
Ohio Horn - June 24, 2009
We can cut the lead this inning. who will pitch next time out
Ohio Horn - June 24, 2009
Augie needs to set the boys straight.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
FUCK ESPN, THEY'RE READY TO JIZZ ON LIVE AIR
afhook08 - June 24, 2009
Season is very close to being over
2Bearnest - June 24, 2009
Why has our bullpen failed us against LSU
It’s so disappointing. We have the #1 pitching staff in the nation and they blow Game 1 and rewarded our batters for fighting back with an atrocious inning.
TheElusiveShadow - June 24, 2009
They were the big batting team. Their power has failed them.
So, we just play baseball with what we have.
whills - June 24, 2009
9-4
ugh! need a miracle………………………again!
How many have we used up?
silky51 - June 24, 2009
this will be one hell of a comeback
i think patrick jizzed himself four times that inning.
zissou - June 24, 2009
and mitchell leads off next inning
so dont think he is done.
hayzer13 - June 24, 2009
guys, he threw 170 pitches and ever since, he has not been the same. Dead Arm Syndrome
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
He also threw a few more pitches than one would normally expect of him just two days ago. If he throws that many, I wouldn’t have expected him to be ready for today. I thought Shin would be the guy.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
I wonder how many people are ready to acknowledge this
seems pretty obvious at this point. That TCU game was a double edged sword.
goingforthecorner - June 24, 2009
still only the 6th guys!
remember arizona state and the unflappable mike leake! And he had a 6 run lead!
jacobb23 - June 24, 2009
Our bullpen also decided to show up for that game.
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
just jungmann
hayzer13 - June 24, 2009
true..but there are still more pitchers and batters who'll give it their all!
jacobb23 - June 24, 2009
I know
But we just fought back from 4-0 after Green gave us a crappy outing, and then our bullpen does this. It’s hard not to be frustrated.
TheElusiveShadow - June 24, 2009
oh believe me, i'm frustrated...
but im not giving up!
jacobb23 - June 24, 2009
true...
but that was a freaking nightmare inning. And I’d much rather be in LSU’ s position
silky51 - June 24, 2009
Ruffin, Jungmann, and Workman
the only 3 guys who showed up this series on the pitching staff….everybody else has been useless.
silky51 - June 24, 2009
TEXAS FIGHT!!!
2Bearnest - June 24, 2009
Folks, this is how we get heroes.
You don’t get them winning 14-0. It’s always the adversity. If any team can do it, these Horns can.
whills - June 24, 2009
Thank-you. Good lord
NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
2nded
jacobb23 - June 24, 2009
I say LSU puts Chad Jones in
And Texas lights him up and puts an end to Malieri’s “experiment”
SuperBentley - June 24, 2009
that graphic said it all...you cannot do that in this situation.
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
It was like jumping on a hand grenade for no good reason.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
"Break the Longhorns heart?" F - ESPN
Show those a-holes boys.
Texas2008 - June 24, 2009
12 points down
6 and a half minutes left… That situation was so unwinnable
SuperBentley - June 24, 2009
Very true
+1. I needed that
kriess - June 24, 2009
also against the greatest team.
hayzer13 - June 24, 2009
Heh, heh. nt
whills - June 24, 2009
No it wasn't. Nobody in burnt orange thought that was unwinnable with VY under center.
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
Or any game vs. Okie State for that matter! : )
junglerules - June 24, 2009
12 outs
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
Time to take advantage of Ranaudo.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
When he falters, he will go to pieces.
Then it’s their time with the bullpen blues.
whills - June 24, 2009
2-2 count
kriess - June 24, 2009
full count now on Tucker
kriess - June 24, 2009
Fly out to CF
kriess - June 24, 2009
not the best way to start the bottom of the 6th
kriess - June 24, 2009
We just scored 2 runs in the last inning
this game isn’t even close to being over.
goingforthecorner - June 24, 2009
if lil wayne is as good as monday....it might be over
afhook08 - June 24, 2009
He's a lefty specialist
Not going to be in there long
kriess - June 24, 2009
coleman = 5 solo bombs = tied game?
hayzer13 - June 24, 2009
shouldn't have pulled Workman
it was clear he was pissed.
MMHorns - June 24, 2009
you guys keep assuming our bullpen will shut down LSU the last 3 innings..
I believe we have some offense left, but unless Ruffin or Jungmann are out there………LSU’s probably gonna get more runs.
silky51 - June 24, 2009
no
not throwing in the towel yet. Dont you dare do it
kriess - June 24, 2009
fine
i’ll grab the next beer then
silky51 - June 24, 2009
I'm really upset
If they’re going to beat us, make them beat us. Don’t give it to them with sloppy pitching.
TheElusiveShadow - June 24, 2009
And fielding. And heck, batting.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
shouldn't have pulled Wood in game 1 either
MMHorns - June 24, 2009
Looks like Les Miles has been showing his jugs.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
reallly...what a tool
jacobb23 - June 24, 2009
3 unearned last inning...that loses ballgames
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
It’s definitely not over, but the lineup has to show some heart again.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
11 outs
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
Hope you guys dont live on the top floor or more than 10 feet off the ground
Some of you may need to be coaxed back off the ledge
NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
Burnt orange sunset. Good Sign
Ohio Horn - June 24, 2009
Damn, beat me to it.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
keep the faith...all usc needed was a 4th down conversion to seal the deal...yeah, that did not happen
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
BON'rs - It's rally cap time or leave the board. C'mon, man up.
TXStampede - June 24, 2009
Let's do this...don't care how, let's do it.
junglerules - June 24, 2009
God is still a Longhorn Fan
NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
damn
CowboyLonghorn - June 24, 2009
Not tonight
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
ball 1
CowboyLonghorn - June 24, 2009
Ok. Enough!
No more of this “these are the things that loses ballgames” type talk. We’re Texas. We’ve won 6 of these damn trophies before. This is the most special team for UT baseball that I have ever been apart of. All of you BONers who think we’re going to lose, GROW a freaking pair (no disrespect to the lady BONers) and still believe in the BURNT ORANGE and WHITE!
kriess - June 24, 2009
buddy I am with you and on your side...but that defensive debacle was unacceptable...i love this team and have faith in the offense...wood has a dead arm right now. We need some solid pitching relief.
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
Not the end of the world
We do need some pitching relief to get this game back on track, but that can be said for ANY game ever played in baseball. We gave up 5 runs. Its done. Its over buddy. Lets stay positive and show our horns what real fans are like. I wasnt happy with the last inning but I know we have at least 9 more outs to rectify the situation. Have faith in Bevo
kriess - June 24, 2009
Amen. nt
whills - June 24, 2009
Lot more generous zone for Jones.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
The strike zone just widened
Ohio Horn - June 24, 2009
Giraffe of Doom?
junglerules - June 24, 2009
WTF, this zone is ridiculously different.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
Effing umps want to get back to the buffet or something.

silky51 - June 24, 2009
LES MILES TV, i've seen les miles more during this game than any football season
afhook08 - June 24, 2009
I think he won a national championship
UT2001 - June 24, 2009
More les than augie? Augie has also won national championships and his team is playing.
Ohio Horn - June 24, 2009
Time for Augie to work his mojo.
He’s got to clean their emotional deck, settle down the pitcher, tell the D that the game is in their hands – no more runs – and get his batters to be effective.
whills - June 24, 2009
Pissed it away in the last inning.
Time to stop spitting out candy and get real.
Can they come back? Of course. Is it at all likely to happen? Not really.
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
Baseball is the art of the unlikely. nt
whills - June 24, 2009
amen to that
kriess - June 24, 2009
please oh please...is this the team of destiny? Sure would like to think so...
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
If we were playing well, I'd agree
But we aren’t. At all. We did for a couple of innings there, but now it’s back to the same crap that put LSU up 4-0.
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
Tucker makes the play in foul territory
1 down
kriess - June 24, 2009

Ohio Horn - June 24, 2009

TXStampede - June 24, 2009
I must say, Maineri is classy...I like him.
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
He beats the hell out of Pat Murphy, that's for damn sure
I just hate their fans.
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
Namely the three in the announcer booth.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
FIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGHHHHHTTTTTT!
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
Is that Mainieri’s daughter? I like her better.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
Austin Wood
I live out of state and hav’nt caught a lot of horns games but so far this postseason i’m not really seeing it with him.
texashorns1 - June 24, 2009
He had his 13 innings of fame. Now he’ll have to make his mark in the pros.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
His arm is a bit dead since the BC game...
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
He has not been razor sharp since then. nt
whills - June 24, 2009
His arm isnt dead
He’s just in a slump.
kriess - June 24, 2009
Is he our only option as a lefty out of the pen then?
texashorns1 - June 24, 2009
Shinaberry
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
Rupp = fly out to RF, 1 down
kriess - June 24, 2009
OK. Had to mute the game. Announcer fatigue.
TXStampede - June 24, 2009
Poor Keyes is getting all sorts of beat up.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
KK takes one for the team, 1 on, 1 out
kriess - June 24, 2009
I'll take a hobble to first. nt
whills - June 24, 2009
I don't know why anyone with radio access would ever NOT have the game muted
I’m having trouble just watching, with all the LSU fan BS.
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
should we pinch run for him
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
I hope not
we know how that ends for Augie…lol
kriess - June 24, 2009
Hate to see Keyes have to come out, because his bat’s a big one these days, but it might have to happen.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
USC, LSU, FL, OU, BLAH BLAH BLAH...BITCHSLAP THEM ALL.
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
didnt you say that last night as well
:-)
kriess - June 24, 2009
That would’ve been a ball in the top half of any inning.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
BBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
UT2001 - June 24, 2009
btw, and some good mojo: lots are picking the Horns this year for the MNC
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
rallies don't happen when you swing at bad pitches...
we need much better at bats than the last one
silky51 - June 24, 2009
Connor Rowe !!!
We have to stop swinging at crap like that
kriess - June 24, 2009
we need base runners
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009

Not showing any heart or threat on offense.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
The lefty is handcuffing our hitters. Someone will have to break it out. nt

afhook08 - June 24, 2009
makin' it rain?
kriess - June 24, 2009
I doubt UT isnt showing any heart
They’re just being outplayed right now. Trust me. UT is playing with a shit-load of heart. Just ask ASU, BC, Army, TCU, So Miss….etc.
kriess - June 24, 2009
Do you really need me to specify that I am talking about tonight?
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
no, I just think "no heart" is a little strong
kriess - June 24, 2009
NK...just brutal
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
couple quick things
I have not given up; very proud of this team overall which exceeded my expectations; however, this serious kills me on so many error/mistake levels
BBBBBBEEERRRRRR!!!!!!
UT2001 - June 24, 2009
can we get a count of how many times they've shown les miles? 57? 109?
horns23 - June 24, 2009
Cry... Game 1 is going to live in infamy
It lost us a championship.
goingforthecorner - June 24, 2009
you can say that if we lose tonite
but we’re not done yet
kriess - June 24, 2009
yes, the dogpile should have occured yesterday.
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
uggh not what we needed
texashorns1 - June 24, 2009
Nola doubles, 0 outs
kriess - June 24, 2009
and no Erin lately...
Mulliganville - June 24, 2009
Giraffe shoulda caught that in his mouth
NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
Unfortunately...
…talent outplayed heart this game. It’s worked to our favor on the football field before, so I guess we can’t complain now.
Plus, when you have the lead in the 9th in game 1, you have to win.
James Brown - the G.O.A.T. - June 24, 2009
+1
I’m still dwelling on Augie’s personnel moves that game. Love the guy, but…
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
clearly...
…he jumped the gun on a few occasions that game
James Brown - the G.O.A.T. - June 24, 2009
For what it's worth
There is a “postgame party” at the Disch at 1:30 PM tomorrow to welcome the team back. Free and open to the public. Of course they would have it in the middle of the workday when no one can go.
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
damn my Dallas livin'!
UT2001 - June 24, 2009
1:30? wtf athelic department..
afhook08 - June 24, 2009
ouch!!!!
EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
and anothe pitching change
shiner coming in
EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
We're putting in a substandard beer to pitch?
UT2001 - June 24, 2009
substandard???
where the hell did you go to school?? It sure as hell wasn’t Austin.
EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
Shiner Blonde is some good stuff
NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
Shiner TX is closer to College Station I bet
besides we all have to move on from the bud, miller and shiner of the world
UT2001 - June 24, 2009
its about the same
kriess - June 24, 2009
you are so wrong
shiner does not belong in the same sentence, paragraph or even page as miller and bud. seriously, you didn’t actually attend the University of Texas, did you?
EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
And yes...
… the ballgame has devolved to the point that i’m arguing about beer
EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
Get em'!
kriess - June 24, 2009
I love you
but its just my opinion of what I like. Shiner is just mediocre comapred to the greatness out there
UT2001 - June 24, 2009
If nothing else...
it’s nice to be loved, especially by a fellow Longhorn. : )
EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
it is a great college beer :)
UT2001 - June 24, 2009
Texas = Shiner
End of Story
kriess - June 24, 2009
amen
EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
If you believe that its cool but there is better beer brewed right here in Texas
UT2001 - June 24, 2009
There are some beers that are better than Shiner; there’s no arguing that. But it’s damn good for the price, and really damn good for a widely-available domestic bottle.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
I find it overpriced. It should be priced more competively than Live Oak or Saint Arnold which
are better breweries overall
UT2001 - June 24, 2009
It's even better on tap
Plus, if you went to UT as an alcohol virgin (as I did), you learned to drink beer on Shiner. It was the keg of choice at every party. I worked on the Texan. We used to have daily budget meetings at the God-forsaken Hole in the Wall over pitchers of Shiner. So yes, my attachment is part emotional. But I still love the taste as well.
but what do I know … I also loved Pete’s Summer Brew and cannot find it to save my life.
EddieTheAlbinoSquirrel - June 24, 2009
C’mon, Shin, lock it up the rest of the way.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
Austin Wood's last pitch as a Longhorn
Tip your hat to him guys

You beat me to it :)
NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
Bravo, Austin Wood.
NYCHorn - June 24, 2009

Either way, love this team, love this season. And still looking for a dramatic comeback.
NYCHorn - June 24, 2009

afhook08 - June 24, 2009
speaking of closers
Whatever happened to J. Brent Cox??? Is he still in the Yankees organization?
James Brown - the G.O.A.T. - June 24, 2009

He's in AAA I believe
bassale47 - June 24, 2009

Ohio Horn - June 24, 2009
DP scores a run...
longhornscardinals - June 24, 2009
I dont thin that's appropiate to say...ohhhhh you mean double play
UT2001 - June 24, 2009
I was dreaming of a UT triple champ season
Champs in baseball, football, and basketball. Ugh, I guess I’ll just HAVE to settle for 2 out of 3 and another CWS appearance.
goingforthecorner - June 24, 2009
Well, techinically, we'd need to win baseball next year for that to apply.
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
with our young team
Very possible
kriess - June 24, 2009
Living in Ohio
They say, better to play for the national championship and lose then not to have a shot. they say that a lot up here…..
Ohio Horn - June 24, 2009
technically
the champions in football and basketball won’t be crowned until 2010, so if UTB takes the CWS title next year, it’d be a Tiger-esque type triple crown
James Brown - the G.O.A.T. - June 24, 2009
"and texas into double digits"
what are they talking about?
Ohio Horn - June 24, 2009
I have to hand it to Craig and Keith
I would not be able to keep my emotions in check anywhere near as well as they have.
bassale47 - June 24, 2009
10-4 LSU
kriess - June 24, 2009

burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
Why are they bringing in this guy when the other was doing so well? nt

maybe Coach PAsta wants his senior to get dogpiled on. IF they can hold on to the win.

Quan shouldn’t of gone pro and played both.
James Brown - the G.O.A.T. - June 24, 2009

Ohio Horn - June 24, 2009

UT2001 - June 24, 2009

NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009

UT2001 - June 24, 2009
Two fantastic defensive plays. Things just aren’t rolling UT’s way, and they need to start if the Horns are going to overcome that disastrous inning.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
The breaks have all been for LSU tonight.
Someone from the Texas dug out needs to go over and ask her to dance.
NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
*Lady luck that is
NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
Damn! Did I just say that out loud? Sorry. Trying to not get discouraged.

when the games on the line.
texashorns1 - June 24, 2009
its over, fuck LSU AND ESPN
afhook08 - June 24, 2009
how many sac bun we've took tonight?
give credit to LSU that they’ve played small ball to score during 6th inning…
No matter what happened, I’m still loving this team…They’ve played their best of the best for this season… It’s beyond our expectation….
Hook’em!
Horns98 - June 24, 2009
holy hell
horns23 - June 24, 2009
Over
Too many mistakes. Even from the coaches too; untimely substitutions, abandoning small ball, etc.
TheElusiveShadow - June 24, 2009
11-4
its not going to happen tonight. Great season, championship was lost on monday night as it turns out………..unfortunate.
silky51 - June 24, 2009
agreed....if Augie didnt abandon small ball at the late of the game.... we should win that game...
Horns98 - June 24, 2009
Looking at next season
what weaknesses need to be addressed? I don’t really know a lot about this team, but by reading the comments, we really need to address the bullpen, improve the offense, and prevent the mental mistakes. Not only errors on defense, but our pitchers not giving us a chance by walking hitters and hitting them.
Then again with all that said, Game 1 should’ve been ours. Next year is the year!
goingforthecorner - June 24, 2009
Chance Ruffin in
kriess - June 24, 2009
You gotta win the games where your ace starts
Goes back to Game 1…
goingforthecorner - June 24, 2009
our ace started last night.
kriess - June 24, 2009
now they bring Ruffin in?????
he should have come in for Workman back in the 6th……………..this move is maddening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
silky51 - June 24, 2009
Ruffin gets to be the last Horn on the mound this year…although I’d give anything for that not to be the case (that is, extra innings).
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
Maybe we should take the turf out of the disch so we know how the ball bounces in Omaha
Ohio Horn - June 24, 2009
Shouldnt we be close to the top 3 for preseason next year?
Very young team with little going to pro’s right?
kriess - June 24, 2009
it should be....
Horns98 - June 24, 2009
Awesome season. Way more than ever expected.
Will always remember it for my first game at the Disch for the conference championship
NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
Maybe it's over, but no second-guessing this team or the coaches
This has been one hell of a ride. I am grateful for it. It’s LSU’s year. We’ll have ours another time.
NYCHorn - June 24, 2009

texashorns1 - June 24, 2009

burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
Gross on many levels.
NYCHorn - June 24, 2009
Hey, I didn’t say they had to touch each other. F-F has been completely superfluous in my experience.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
I will always have appreciation for this team
even if we win it all next year.
This team really reminded me of Clutch City, the Rockets in 1994-95. So many dramatic moments, and so many dramatic wins. Unfortunately we ran into the better team.
goingforthecorner - June 24, 2009
Well. I have to say, I have had a ball this season.
Some really exciting baseball. A fun team to watch. But I will be glad to stop the ESPN college baseball stuff. Thanks everyone for carrying me through the series. It has been fun!

NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009
Agreed. It was a heck of a season.
MarkW - June 24, 2009
This team came in with no experience
but they obtained a ton of it these two weeks.
Great team, great season.
I think they’ll be back.
Goodnight, Horns. We love you.
Hook ’em.
whills - June 24, 2009

We're (still) Texas.
TexasTexasYeehaw - June 24, 2009
So there ends another fantasic year of Texas Athletics
Not many universities got to see all of the success that we saw this year, and the best thing is that next year is gunna be even better
future_longhorn_dad - June 24, 2009
right on
This was an amazing year, and 09-10 has a good chance to be the best ever.
hayzer13 - June 24, 2009
Proud of this team
But this is a bitter defeat. We were one out away from winning Game 1 and taking this series in 2. Our bullpen failed us then and it failed us today. Hard not to be angry that we practically gave LSU that big inning with mistake after mistake.
TheElusiveShadow - June 24, 2009
The post-mortem will show that to be the case.
When you have it down to an out, you must close it out.
whills - June 24, 2009
50-16-1.
I suspect AS40 will put something up later.
Now for a 40-day break before we get damn serious about the Horns.
whills - June 24, 2009
Lets keep this in perspective
Aggy was picked to win this NC at the beginning of the year. Every Longhorn fan needs to be DAMN proud of their baseball team from Austin. Our boys get to come home to Ausitn, Texas, and work on getting back to Omaha next year. And WE WILL BE BACK!
kriess - June 24, 2009
+1
future_longhorn_dad - June 24, 2009
Heads up
Football, Basketball, and Baseball should all be better next year. Just a little over a month of nothingness until football talk can really begin.
JohnsonUT - June 24, 2009
What are you talking about?
We need to start talking football now!
SuperBentley - June 24, 2009
Yeah we need someone to do a breakdown of DCTF mag ASAP
I need my Fix!
kriess - June 24, 2009
Just got my copy yesterday
First page of the texas article is about Colt making sure the collins is up at 5am everyday to work out and practice, i guess after brandon got in trouble for being late a few times
future_longhorn_dad - June 24, 2009
and that is about as far as I got
we will all have plenty of time to read now
future_longhorn_dad - June 24, 2009
Friday Night Lights.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
What the hell is Mitchell saying?
NeTexHorn - June 24, 2009

On the bright side we dont have to listen to the anouncers tounge bathe lsu anymore. Hook Em Horns and good night to all.
vivalonghorns05 - June 24, 2009
73 days
until football season. Hook ’em.
RuckusG - June 24, 2009
Great season all
That it didn’t end in a championship shouldn’t detract from all this team accomplished.
40AS - June 24, 2009
Even if I met Brandon Loy in a dark alley, I’d give him a punch in the arm and buy him a beer.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
Great Season Indeed
Despite coming one game short of the top, it was the most memorable run this decade by a Longhorn team. Very proud of these kids. They are champions in my book. One of the great things about being a Horn is that we are sure to return to Omaha every year. This team may well make another run next season with some of the talent that we will retain. Hook’em!
LAREHORN67 - June 24, 2009
Jungman needs to win 15 games, and more than one Longhorn needs to be above .300.
burntorangehorn - June 24, 2009
Notoriously undermanned in the offense and speed department across the board, with all emphasis on pitching. Need some balance here for sure. If anyone can fill these gaps, it’s Garrido. Here’s to 2010.
LAREHORN67 - June 24, 2009
Where was Mack?
I saw Roy WIlliams at a UNC game in this CWS, I saw Trent Johnson and Les Miles at our game 2 against LSU and then Miles went home and got his son and came back for the Championship Game.
At a Basketball school like UNC Williams is the lead dog and he came to show his support. At a football school the football coach is the lead dog. Where was ours?
Does Mack have an issue with Augie because of the drinking and driving thing or what?
San Antonio Texan - June 28, 2009
Doubt that’s it. I think it has more to do with a combination of recruiting and a few other things. Isn’t his wife still going through some of the medical stuff?
burntorangehorn - June 28, 2009
That said, yes, I do believe there should’ve been more UT VIPs there. Of course it’s entirely possible that they were there, but weren’t shown on ESPN because there wasn’t time between shots of Les Miles twittering and Mahtook’s family.
