Terribly unfortunate news for D.J. Grant -- by all accounts a terrific kid -- and for the team. Best wishes to Grant on a full recovery.

UPDATE: Mack Brown informed Grant he'll be using a medical redshirt this season. Today is DJ Grant's birthday. Horrible.

Hopefully the rest of the team can make it until the start of the season with no more injuires. Fingers crossed.

This is silly. Neither I nor anyone else wished any bad injury on any OU player. I would never do that toward any athlete not named “Kellen Heard.”

I didn’t mean that you were wishing any bad injury on any OU player. The title of that post was not reflective of what was written in the post itself. It might have been unintentional but it seemed that you were poking fun at how ‘delicate’ Demarco Murray was through your choice of words for the title.

There is a big difference in saying ‘Delicate Demarco’ and saying ‘Demarco injured’. If you didn’t mean it, I’ll take your word for it.

He’s always nicked up. The title I put up did implicitly comment on how often he seems to get nicked up, but I posted the fanshot specifically to notify BON of a potentially impactful injury that happened, not to poke fun at the kid.

Damn, that’s rough all around. Busted-up knee, out for the season, and he’s having to deal with it on his birthday.

Welp…DJ, we’ve been very eagerly anticipating the impact you’re going to have for the Longhorns, and as disappointed as we are to not see you this season, we’re definitely going to look forward to seeing your stuff in 2010. We all wish you a speedy recovery, and we’re sure the players on the team are going to draw on you to contribute in whatever ways possible this season.

Let's remember

We would not have the goodness of Scaife or Shipley at exactly the right time for each of those men to step into the spotlight if they had not had to battle through similar things. I would bet they would tell you that they hated to death the agony and the time that these experiences cost them, but they have emerged better, tougher men from that. I’ve been at the center of wierdness before that makes me believe there’s a time and a place for all things. I would never wish illl on anyone; I hope for DJ he’ll get a perfect recovery and to be able to stun us for years to come on the field, as soon as possible. This is a big setback, but hope it becomes a great step in his life.
