On Tuesday evening, Texas safety Kenny Vaccaro hacked a movement to pieces -- similar to the slice he took out of James Franklin up in Columbia -- by killing off the Machete nickname. RIP Machete.
The man has spoken. Not much else left to say, other than when Kenny V says cease and desist, there's plenty of evidence to suggest that a failure to comply only opens up a world of pain.

Sorry
But just as you can’t give yourself a nickname, you can’t take away a nickname either.
UPB13 - January 10, 2012
I'm guessing you're a law student...
Hopefully not checking in from Gregory Gym.
learned hand - January 10, 2012
Exactly.
Most people can’t enforce it if they want a nickname to stop. Someone tell me that you would drop a Machete right now without looking over your shoulder.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - January 10, 2012
He will be known as Machete from here to eternity.
Embrace the nickname given to you.
Hippie Killer - January 11, 2012
It's either Machete or Dwayne
His move
Horncasting - January 11, 2012
I was too afraid to say that
Wrangler86 - January 11, 2012
I never called him Machete
But now I want tol…..as long as I’m far, far away when doing it. Maybe I’ll just do it while watching the games on tv.
Wrangler86 - January 10, 2012
He's not saying that Machete is lame
And he wants us to call him Zorro is he?
Wrangler86 - January 10, 2012
I think he means the name machete is as lame as being called zorro
not that he prefers it
owenh - January 10, 2012
Machete don't tweet

Off Topic - Raulerson
Raulerson to play in the 2013 UA game. Hope his statement is just about the game and doesn’t mean anything more! I’d probably pick the UA game and a vacation to Florida too if I played HS ball in Texas. I feel pretty good about landing him.
Raulerson, one of the nation’s most highly touted juniors, will showcase his skills in next year’s Under Armour All-American Game, as he has accepted an offer to play in that game. Raulerson, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound lineman, said both games have the prestige and tradition, as well as the talented players, but he said that getting the chance to play in Florida one-upped the opportunity of playing in Texas.
"I just think it’s a lot of fun to be able to go to Florida and have a fun week," Raulerson said. "I’ll get to play with some of the best players in the country. I’m very blessed to be chosen and very excited about playing in the game next year."

That's Maulerson to you ;-)
UA is great because it is where most of the Texas recruits play. But, this yeear the poor black team got creamed. This is a good sign and I think he is going to get the honor of being the first commit for 2013 because of his leadership ability.
Wrangler86 - January 10, 2012
let's hope
He’s the type of guy picked first at the pickup game every single time.
TxHorns989 - January 11, 2012 via mobile
It seems like usually UA is for the top skill/speed guys
QB, RB, WR, DB. Usually the top linemen seem to end up in San Antonio.
burntorangehorn - January 11, 2012
After Connor Brewer was pummeled repeatedly
Maybe Mack & Co. are encouraging all our O-Line commits/recruits to go to UA to help protect our skill guys. We had 10 kids there and I think only 4 in San Antonio so our kids prefer the Florida game I tihnk.
Wrangler86 - January 11, 2012
Ok Kenny
I’ll stop calling you Machete if you promise to come back for your senior year.
Thanks.
kriess - January 10, 2012
He already said that he would come back
But if he isn’t coming back as the Machete will he be as good? Isn’t the name required for the super powers?
Wrangler86 - January 10, 2012
But the headline
Had me going. I thought he was taking the machete to Sundayland.

El Zorro is taken ...
by Les Miles.
Distributor of the Football - January 10, 2012

horns1025 - January 10, 2012 via mobile
Kenny V
Is just a bit plain and sounds too much like Kenny G. Just saying—from 200 miles away. Now I’ll sleep with one eye open.
Wrangler86 - January 10, 2012
Kenny Vacarro is like a ninja
horns1025 - January 11, 2012
Forgive my ignorance
But what is the origin of the nickname?
PiedAfried - January 11, 2012 via mobile
This has always been my assumption:
burntorangehorn - January 11, 2012
By the way, that movie had the greatest tagline ever:
“This time, they f*cked with the wrong Mexican.”
burntorangehorn - January 11, 2012
Notwithstanding the scantily clad Jessica Alba and MIchelle Rodriguez,
the movie was intentionally cheesy. Which doesn’t mean it wasn’t enjoyable on many levels, just that there was a reason it was never mentioned in the Oscar buzz that year.
bevosteve67 - January 11, 2012
" Notwithstanding the scantily clad Jessica Alba and MIchelle Rodriguez"
That was the best part about the movie!!!!!
BurntOrangeForever - January 11, 2012 via mobile
I didn't say it wasn't. Also forgot to mention the nude scene
with Lindsay Lohan. But Michelle Rodriguez with an eye patch, wow, just wow…
bevosteve67 - January 11, 2012
I loved that movie
Obviously it’s not the type to win any kind of artistic award, but I laughed hysterically when I saw the fake trailer for it in Grindhouse, and was pleased when they made an actual movie out of it.
This is still my favorite line.
burntorangehorn - January 11, 2012
Sailor Ripley
tweeted something about how Adrian Phillips was the Swiss Army knife of the secondary and I said that Vaccaro was, too, because of his versatility, and he said that Vaccaro wasn’t a Swiss Army knife, he was a machete. So that’s how it started.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - January 11, 2012
Great story
So, I guess if Sailor Ripley gave it, he can take it away….what says Sailor Ripley on the subject?
Wrangler86 - January 11, 2012
I will defer to Kenny.
One would foolish not to…

Do you have a link?
Or a minute to summarize?
BurntOrangeForever - January 11, 2012 via mobile
It's a free link
Go to IT, choose free forums, look for Humidor. Too lenghty to summarize, but a most interesting anecdote about Mack vs. Harsin concerning (1) Gilbert’s removal against BYU, and (2) Ash’s non-removal against Cal. Not anything negative, just how the decisions were made.

Thought the stuff about Texas being proactive
in regards to street agents was interesting. Jesus didn’t mention any names, but I’m pretty sure that he was talking about the Thomas Johnson and DeVante Harris recruitments. Considering the area, I have trouble believing that the person he’s referencing is anyone other than Baron Flenory, who seems to have gone under the radar for the moment, even taking his New Level Athletics website down. I would actually be surprised if he hasn’t been in contact with Johnson and Harris given what has happened recently with them.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - January 11, 2012
Is Flenory hosting a camp this weekend?
Darth Bevo - January 11, 2012
Anything you say, Mr. Vaccaro

Ohio Horn - January 11, 2012
hahahahahahahahahahahaha
@Kenny: I always thought it was kinda stupid, too. “Vaccaro” is cool enough by me. And BTW: Thanks for staying for your season season.

Machete
Is the coolest nickname since Megatron. I hope it never dies.
BerlinTexas - January 11, 2012
Didn't like it, also never liked The Matrix for Shawn Marion.
Different strokes for different folks.
2Cor12:9 - January 11, 2012
Kenny's earned the right to be called whatever he wants.
Especially if it is prefaced with “Mister”.
bevosteve67 - January 11, 2012
Well, he could have tweeted "please"
But, he seemed pretty nice and cool how asked us to stop, so I guess the right thing to do is honor his request.
