[Update]: Gerry Hamilton reporting that it's down to Arkansas and Missouri ($). --GoBR--
There hasn't been any positive buzz surrounding Texas and Dorial Green-Beckham for days, even in the direct aftermath of Mack Brown's visit to Hillcrest High School last Thursday for a sit-down with DGB and his parents.
On Tuesday evening, Orangebloods publisher Geoff Ketchum further dashed whatever optimists were still holding out hope in the Texas fanbase when he revealed on Twitter that multiple sources close to the Texas program have indicated that the Beckhams or DGB himself reached out to the Longhorn staff to inform them that the star wideout will not be signing with Texas on National Signing Day Wednesday.

The report from Ketchum jives with other news from other Texas services that essentially all say the same thing -- if Texas hasn't officially been eliminated, the staff no longer feels much, if any, confidence about landing DGB.
At this time, the prohibitive favorite seems to be Missouri, thought to have surged into the lead following a weekend visit, while Arkansas has seemingly faded after the Beckhams failed to make the trip to Fayetteville with their adopted son.
It was thought for some time that the announcement ceremony actually would hold more drama than most, but if the news coming out of various programs is correct, it looks like Green-Beckham will stay in Missouri.

hope he goes to mizzou, hurt us least there
ludashoeless - January 31, 2012
That would be great if he went to Mizzou
kcmorse - January 31, 2012
Well played recruiting strategy by Mizzou
plus the home state factor. While I’m dissapointed, I feel that the fact that this staff pursued DBG is more important than whether we got him or not….at least, as it pertains to how this staff is going to approach recruiting in the future. Good luck in the SEC, DGB.
Amen Amachigh - January 31, 2012
At least we get to watch an Arky meltdown as a consolation prize.
I’ll definitely be looking forward to watching this young man’s progress through the years.
spinmonkey - January 31, 2012
The right thing to do
Informing the staff before the drama of tomorrow is the right way to handle this. Wish him all the best…in the SEC, that is!
utexas87 - January 31, 2012
Absolutely!
I commend the young man for behaving like a gentleman. His manners will take him far in this world.
HornChamps - January 31, 2012
His Twitter Comment Last Night
alluded to the fact that he had to do what he had to do, no one was going to influence his decision. What I got out of that was that he was not going to go where his parents wanted him to go, i.e. Texas. I saw it as the death nail in the Texas coffin.
The rest of his Twitter messages revealed that he is P-Whipped and definitely staying near his girlfriend seemed to be the deciding factor.
Can’t blame him but hindsight may show his decisions are more teenager like than “mature” about his future. That being said, I also think Missouri is the worst option of the 4 remaining schools on his list. Godspeed DGB.

Shocking
A certain part of a woman’s anatomy has won again. I believe it is still undefeated.
TexasGarcia37 - January 31, 2012
I'm convinced of this as well
Snide Aside - January 31, 2012
I've always been powerless.
Seems the only way to slay the beast is to stab it… but even then you always lose.
KratosWasASooner - January 31, 2012
...or win.
I can’t tell anymore.
KratosWasASooner - January 31, 2012
I saw a rumor on Cosm or BC that DGB was trying to lure some recruits away
any truths on that
kcmorse - January 31, 2012
Doesn't Make Sense
Why try to recruit them to your new team when all he had to do is join them. I don’t buy the rumor.
HazzardousHorns - January 31, 2012
Sometimes I'm kind of like George McFly
Ill buy anything
kcmorse - January 31, 2012
eh oh well
Wish him all the best. But we’ll win with or without him.
horns1025 - January 31, 2012 via mobile
This is how I kinda feel
TexasGarcia37 - January 31, 2012
Even with the #2 class you still feel pain?
spinmonkey - January 31, 2012
a little
extremely happy with class, but losing a transcendent talent like DGB hurts a little.
TexasGarcia37 - January 31, 2012
That's how I felt when Fozzy went down hurt.
WreckerTex - January 31, 2012
I felt more like this
TexasGarcia37 - January 31, 2012
Use the button...it comes with sound!

Cardina1 - January 31, 2012
lol
Thank you for not trolling. Besides the inflammatory quote haha….
HookemHouston - January 31, 2012
Haha.
I, like fellow Horn fans, was still holding out hope for him.
Oh well… I’d rather see him at Mizzou as opposed to the other schools.
BurntOrangeTexans - January 31, 2012 via mobile
D. Scott, J Mac and now DGB. Am I missing someone besides Perriloser that we got kicked in the sack on
kcmorse - January 31, 2012
Look How They Turned Out
Ultimately Prima Donnas that have failed to live up to expectations. If that’s the case, no big deal – we still got Jaxon and Mr. Jones plus the Four Horsemen to take the handoff. We will be fine.
HazzardousHorns - January 31, 2012
I would love to see TJ extend an olive branch to Mack about now!
kcmorse - January 31, 2012
I wouldn't lump DGB in with those guys or call him a prima donna
DGB was pretty straight up with recruiting and seemed to be a good kid.
TexasGarcia37 - January 31, 2012
Agreed
but it was KC who lumped them together originally. DGB seems to be an outstanding young man but by him waiting to announce on signing day on ESPN his decision it does make him a bit of an attention seeker IMO.
HazzardousHorns - January 31, 2012
Why not let him enjoy the moment?
Obviously, every decision by him isn’t gonna be the smartes, as he is young, but let him enjoy signing on national TV. He’s earned it.
40A - January 31, 2012
Westerman??
jmatt62 - January 31, 2012
It hurts a little...
TexasStateHorn - January 31, 2012
Colorado commit
Not sure he ever got the offer from us
everything horns - January 31, 2012
Hobbs committed to Colorado.
He was told by the staff last week that he would not be receiving an offer.
Wescott Eberts (GoBR) - January 31, 2012
For purely selfish and vindictive reasons
I prefer him going to Arky. To hell with Misery and aggy as well – the cowards!
Snide Aside - January 31, 2012
If Arky didn't play in Jerry World every now an then I would agree
kcmorse - January 31, 2012
so does this mean UNT is off the table as well?
horns1025 - January 31, 2012 via mobile
maybe now mizzou might beat vandy in 4 years
ludashoeless - January 31, 2012
Ehhh
iffy… they might need a lot more dgb’s to do that. lol
HookemHouston - January 31, 2012
before anyone gets angry that was sarcastic
I’m assuming ludashoeless was also being sarcastic.
HookemHouston - January 31, 2012
I personally think it's a mistake and that he'll regret the decision. But....
you can’t force someone to make a wise decision.
Nunna Yo Bizness - January 31, 2012
Regret it...
as far as getting to the NFL? Or regret it when it comes to success in college…
I think he’s only thinking about getting to the next level….and if he is, Mizzou is as good a place as any, if the rumours are true. If they can send Maclin to the pros, DGB should be fine.
Amen Amachigh - January 31, 2012
If either of two routes get you to the NFL wouldn't you enjoy the path much more that..
involves competing for championships instead of competing for 4th place in a division?
Nunna Yo Bizness - January 31, 2012
My point was
he probably cares more about staying home and being around his family instead of winning championships. I’m guessing that bc if he did care about championships, this recruiting battle would have come down to texas vs. ou vs. lsu vs bama….not arky and mizzou.
Amen Amachigh - January 31, 2012
I think he's probably naive enough to think Mizzou is gonna become a winner in the SEC.
When they don’t I think he’ll wish he could have competed for a championship.
Nunna Yo Bizness - January 31, 2012
I'm sure Mizzou
has been filling his head with all kinds of nonsensical thoughts about winning the championship.
40A - January 31, 2012
The kid is 6'6" and runs a sub 40 yd dash.
He’d likely get drafted in the first round of the NFL draft if he was able to go straight to the pros on potential alone.
He’ll be fine.
Will he win a national championship? No.
Sunkist - January 31, 2012
If either of two routes get you to the NFL wouldn't you enjoy the path much more that...
involves competing for championships instead of competing for 4th place in a division?
Nunna Yo Bizness - January 31, 2012
I don't know if he'll regret it
But I do agree that Mizzou is a mistake. Mizzou waffling and making repeated overtures to the Big 10 just to end up in the SEC where they have no tie is stupid. It is going to take a lot more than DGB to help Mizzou.
I’m just glad DGB didn’t pick OU. I kind of agree that I wish he’d pick ARK, but that must not be happening. I kind of thought it was Mizzou when he gave the coach a big hug in front of the crowd.
Wrangler86 - January 31, 2012
DGB choice no big surprise
No need to bash DGB for not choosing the Horns either…he’s played it straight, no prima dona games, and apparently is making his choice based on his priorities in looking for a place to play football and go to school. Mizzou has the advantage of proximity….just like in real estate, it’s all about location, location, and location. Mack’s still bringing in a great class, with or without DGB.
coolhorn - January 31, 2012
True that
On a side note, I’m surprised that the trolls aren’t here to gloat yet.
HookemHouston - January 31, 2012
Trolls
Give ‘em time…they’re busy right now trying to figure who’ll be the next ag commit catching the next train out of collie station before tomorrow morning.
coolhorn - January 31, 2012
Right decision for him.
Mizzu has a QB. We are a “running” team right?
Dawnpatrol - January 31, 2012 via mobile
That's right. Just like it was a bad decision for Julio Jones.
Nunna Yo Bizness - January 31, 2012
agree. An elite WR needs an elite QB.
There is nothing here to see. Move on.
Ohio Horn - January 31, 2012
well shucks
abcdmetrius - January 31, 2012
Compromise school for Mizzou
They lucked into that spot imho. He probably wanted Arky for the passing attack, Parents wanted Texas, hence he will go to the neutral school in the fight. Sometimes you just don’t win them all.
STLaw - January 31, 2012
What's the latest on Mike Davis?
Haven’t heard any mentions of him lately. Possible attrition candidate?
TexasGangorDie - January 31, 2012
Think it depends on his attitude and work ethic this spring
STLaw - January 31, 2012
Would love to see him step up and be the playmaker
Who are the likely candidates to play opposite of Ship? John Harris has good size and been hearing he wants to “be the guy” but does he have a real shot to do that?
TexasGangorDie - January 31, 2012
He does
Rumor has it that he has been working his tail off
STLaw - January 31, 2012
Glad to hear that
Think one of the main issues past few years for the team as a whole has been work ethic. Love the stacked class coming in but I think at this point I’d rather have a 3* guy workin his tail off than a 4/5* that wants to be an assclown. If Davis can step up then great, if not get the hell outta way for somethin that wants to be on the field bad enough to work.
TexasGangorDie - January 31, 2012
Well suck me sideways. He can watch us rush for 500 yds in the NC game!
Seriously, good luck, DGB. Seems like a good guy.
WreckerTex - January 31, 2012
500 yards rushing?
We gonna be playing Rice? Lol
horns1025 - January 31, 2012 via mobile
Hey, the last SEC coach came from Conference-USA so you never know.
WreckerTex - January 31, 2012

He was hired to soften up the SEC defenses.

ludashoeless - January 31, 2012
How bout taking Thomas Johnson with him to UO
That would really make the aggies pissed. TJ is now looking at TCU also, so maybe he will compete against Texas. I say bring it in since you are dead. (Texas Gang or Die). Talk about making a terrible decision.
Wrangler86 - January 31, 2012
Still bummed about TJ
Has there ever been a recruit who pulled a surprise hat out of there ass?
kcmorse - January 31, 2012
Maybe have 3 hats on the table, slap them all off and say not enough swagger Dre Kirkpatrick style
then dawn on the Burnt Orange
kcmorse - January 31, 2012
Yeah I'd love to see someone decapitate him on a slant.
Or just shut him down after he trash talks all week about owning us.
HookemHouston - January 31, 2012
Gunner Kiel flips for the 3rd time to Texas
HazzardousHorns - January 31, 2012
That would be a surprise, considering he already enrolled at ND
TexasGangorDie - January 31, 2012
That was just a ploy
So he could outshine the recruits signing on National Signing Day. He had to do something to draw more attention to himself.
Wrangler86 - January 31, 2012
Bralon Addison signs with Tulane
Snide Aside - January 31, 2012
DGB gets dumped
goes running home to momma, and she packs his bags for ut
HookemHouston - January 31, 2012
DGB to Baylor
I got it from a source who knows a guy that used to hook up with a chick who lived three blocks from the family five years ago. Seems legit.

gf break up
Landon Collins breaks up with GF over something stupid and ends up signing with LSU
j64_tizzle - January 31, 2012
Hey boss hit reply next time
I actually wasted my time googling that thinking you had something newsworthy
kcmorse - January 31, 2012
Question is slightly off topic but
Do the dorms at Mizzou come with their own built-in meth labs on each floor? Would explain the students thinking that making their shittastic little signs saying MIZ-DGB or gathering a “crowd” of 100 people would impress or have any effect on an elite recruit’s decision.
TexasGangorDie - January 31, 2012
It has been confirmed
on www.itotallyjustmadethisbullshitup.com
HookemHouston - January 31, 2012
same source most of these recruiting rumors come from
TexasGangorDie - January 31, 2012
Good he is out of the conference
Let the SEC eat his lunch..
bevomav - January 31, 2012
meh not surprised
Frankly, i’m surprised that we made the final cut. Kudos to Mack and staff for recruiting this kid so well. As long as he didnt go to OU…i’m happy
jtdoes - January 31, 2012 via mobile
Same
If he was the linchpin of a mediocre recruiting class, i would be pretty unhappy, but seeing as we have a lot of talent coming in it doesn’t hurt as much
HookemHouston - January 31, 2012
So does Thayer Evans write a hit piece in the next few days about Texas
kcmorse - January 31, 2012
Please take high road and mention his bro
I’m surprised nobody has mentioned his brother in his decision. Here are 2 close brothers that went through tough times, and have only lived in their adoption home for about 6 years. His bro gets leukemia last Feb and all I’ve heard is losing him to his girlfriend and him being a prima donna. How about wanting to be close to his sick brother? Yes I’m upset he’s not wearing burnt orange but I have nothing but respect for him and I wish him the best.
ExtraLonghorn - January 31, 2012
How about...
you take the high road and read before ranting? They made a point to split him apart from the prima’s. Multiple places through here it was mentioned he was classy throughout the process. The gf jokes are typical guy talk. They aren’t meant to be taken seriously.
Calm down. It’ll be ok.
