Dorial Green-Beckham Commits To Missouri, As Expected

In a Signing Day ceremony at his high school, all-world wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham, considered a rare talent at the position, committed to Missouri, choosing the Tigers over Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and a host of other schools.

An official visit over the weekend helped vault the Tigers into the lead, passing previous favorite Arkansas, the school that appeared to be in the lead after a visit the week before. The announcement must have come as quite a shock to Hog fans who considered DGB to be in the bag only a few short days ago.

But the home-state school won out in the end, possible the preference of his parents after the Beckhams declined to accompany their adopted son on the trip to Fayetteville. There were reports that the Longhorns were notified by either DGB or the family that they had been eliminated from consideration on Tuesday evening.

For the Longhorns, how much it hurts to lose DGB probably depends on whether individual fans see him as a luxury take in a class that already includes several top-rated wide receiver commits. None of them are on the otherwordly level, who has a combination of size and speed rarely seen at the high school level. At Texas, he would have provided both a security blanket and a deep threat who could stretch the field on playaction, a major necessity in the Bryan Harsin offense.

Star-divide

Still, it's probably remarkable enough that the Longhorns were even in consideration down the final stretch, as Texas got in on the recruitment rather late and only because wide receivers coach Darrell Wyatt had already built a relationship with the big wide receiver. Had Texas been closer to home, many reports in recent weeks indicated that the Longhorns might even have been in the lead after making positive impressions on DGB, his family, and his younger brother.

Best of luck to you DBG

It would have been nice to have seen you in burnt orange, but it is what it is.

Go Horns!

good luck DGB

The best part of this is laughing at the hogs that all thought DGB was a lock.

Can't fault him for choosing MIzzou over us.

Danario Alexander and Jeremy Maclin = proven record of sending WRs to the NFL.

and Texas hasn't?

confused by your thinking there.

I think he'll do well.

I’m thrilled that we fought to the end on this one.

Great job to the coaches for going balls to the wall.

anyone know

what this does for MU’s recruiting class? where do they stand in the rankings?

They've been losing a bunch of kids,

so this will obviously help, but I don’t think it will vault them into the Top 30 or anything.

Mizzou fan here

We are now 21 in the ESPN Rankings, most of our decommits returned

True, but

ESPN rankings are bs. We are one or two on all the others (behind bama) and somehow FSU jumped us in the EPSN ranking

While I certainly understand the choice due to proximity....

Did the Beckhams not do their homework on the other players coming into this class with him? As a receiver, he needs a QB to get him the ball and more importantly, and offensive line to block. Mizzou is the number 8th ranking recruiting class…IN THE SEC! Also, are there plans to replace the season ending field turf in Columbia? I understand he can be a transient player but I wonder why other players wouldn’t flock to play along side him.

Mizzou

signed Maty Mauk the #16 QB, not a Kiel type guy but is expected to be good, and we have Franklin who really came on at the end last season
And yes, there is new turf next year, thank God

And as for Linemen

We signed ESPNU #42 overall Evan Boehm, from Lee’s Summit, Missouri

And with the combo of Mauk and DGB,

we brought in 2 players who hold national HS football records at their position (Mauk has video game stats)

James Franklin is a pretty good quarterback.
Piece of Friendly Advice...

For your own sanity going forward, when Wyatt is the lead recruiter on a kid, take what you hear with salt grains.

i have no issue whatsoever with how wyatt recruited so far
As a Mizzou fan

I would like to commend the Texas fans on not being the scumbags Ar-kansas fans are being, much more class than those who are saying they hope he dies

Thanks bro

Yes, the arky trolls visited here a few days ago ha they are an unpleasant bunch.

I am an Arkansas fan

And have said no such thing. And I will go out on a limb and say the majority of Hog fans have said nothing like that. I wish him well. I think it’s a mistake but, I wish him well.

You must no visit Hogville.net
Haven't dealt with Arkansas fans on Twitter recently,

all I can say is that they made me miss the Aggies who unfollowed me.

I second this statement wholeheartedly.
