My friends and I decided about 2 months ago to start a sports blog. We are all seniors in high school, and interview some of the top college basketball prospects in the nation. Javan, I believe, is one of the more underrated players in the class of 2012. Great floor general you are all getting. He was nice enough to help us out with an interview and I hope you enjoy!

With ATM out of the schedual for the forseable future, a new Rivalry Weak game and eventual rivalry will have to be schedualed. Many people are looking at TCU as being ATM's replacement because of the similar level in caliber and the media liking a classic Austin Vs. Dallas rivalry. However some schools could also be seen as taking the role such as K-state or OSU. Personally I think a K-state rivalry wouldn't be too bad if we could find a way to beat them for once. Some may hate to admit it, but they have dominated Texas over the past couple of meetings. Anyways, who do you think should be next?
This kid from New Boston rushed for Over 6,000 yards in his high school career, was a 2 time 1st team all state rb in class 2A, rushed for 368 yds and 4 tds against Dangerfield who was in the same district and yet he received no offers. How is this possible? Waste of talent because he definitely has division 1 ability. He also shared the backfield with Damien Haskins who will be a sr this year who rushed for over 1000 yds also. He will be attending Trinity Valley Community College next year.
What is going on inside Texas Lady Longhorn basketball? I know they lost their young phenomenon star to injury early this year, but really, conference near-doormat? Really? When I went to UT we had a lousy football team (McWilliams era), an emerging Men's hoops team (Penders' first few seasons), an awesome baseball team (Gus-ball) but a sterling women's hoops team (Conradt with seven straight seasons undefeated in conference, just missed her perfect season).
The program had surely grown stale under Jody, but Gail Goestenkors has been a big disappointment for me. She had built a great resume at Duke and seemed like a great steal at the time. But midway through her fifth season, staring at a 3-8 conference record, only one season with a winning conference record with her tenure on the 40 Acres defined as a middle-of-the-pack team in conference, average to middling program nationally, I'm beginning to wonder about her future at UT.
Texas women's basketball has been and needs to become again a consistent top five program. Five years is a long time to get results. Can you imagine Kansas, Duke, Kentucky sticking with a men's Bball coach for five years of poor results like Gail has delivered now at UT? No way, not with expectations of marquee teams like they have. Well, dammit, that's what Texas Lady Longhorn basketball is and should be!!!
I say give her one more season ONLY because of this year's injuries. She should know she's on the spot and needs to pick it up in 2012-2013 or she's gone. What do you think?
Blah, these concept designs suck, the only tolerable one is the orange helmet since its just a tweak to the original. Anyway here's the link to the UT Co-Op's facebook page who introduced a few possibilities from the new UT Nike Pro Combat line on their wall today.
So without further ado...
The Horn with Numbers
and the Horn without Numbers
The Cartoon Bevo Helmet
The Tacky Motorcycle Style Helmet
And finally...
The Color Inverted Classic
But I would rather leave our uniforms/helmets alone. Don't Mess with a classic.
Rivals just put out their top 100, I thought people might like to have a look.
Or at least the football uniforms. The classic uniform is what makes the Longhorns iconic. For the love of God and Darrel K. Royal, here to hoping we don't jump on this bandwagon. Don't get me wrong, the designs are cool looking (especially the orange helmet with the white logo), but some things are best left alone. Like DKR said, "These are work uniforms."
DE- Jeffcoat and Okafor are no-brainers here. Both should have breakout seasons. Shiro-san will be a situational pass rusher and I'm picking him to have a monster season. Reggie Wilson is a big question mark. Unsure if he will contribute or not.
DT- Moore, MB2, Dorsey, Jackson, and Whaley will be in a rotation on the D-Line. I expect Moore and Jackson or Dorsey to start on the 2-deep. With Howell transferring, MB2 and other incoming freshmen could get increased playing time.
LB- I've got Hicks, which is a no-brainer. Now it gets interesting. I don't know if D. Santos can beat out Edmond, but I expect Edmond to win the starting nod. Edmond will need to keep his weight down, unless he wants to play on the D-Line. The third linebacker I'm going with is D.Cobbs. With some added muscle, i think he'll do just fine.
CB- Pretty easy here, C.Byndom and Quandre the Giant locking the opposing receivers down.
SS- A. Phillips will start when not in the nickel. M. Thompson when A. Phillips is in the Nickel.
FS- Machete will play here or nickel.
Nickel- I'm not sure about nickel, but I think it will be Machete or Phillips.
QB- David Ash will be the guy heading into the spring. Preferably Brewer redshirts with Case as Ash's backup.
RB- Malcolm Brown will be the feature back, with Bergeron getting his carries as well. J Gray is expected to be a wildcat back and also get carries on the side.
FB- Not sure on this one yet. Ryan Roberson is the only true fullback on roster, and there are possibilities of B. Matthews, DLT, or C. Moss converting to fullback.
WR- Jaxon Shipley will lead the group. Hopefully Mike Davis will get his mind right and dedicate himself to football this offseason, it's now or never. Goodwin will be a deep threat. Sanders and Jones are expected to play early.
TE- MJ MCFARLAND. Lots of optimism for him to be the next Jermichael Finley, or close to it. There's also D.J. Grant and possibilities of converting Bluiett or someone else to Tight End.
OT- Josh Cochran and Donald Hawkins are expected to win starting jobs. Hawkins is expected to sure up the offensive line next season.
OG- Mason Walters should be better and the best on O-Line. Trey Hopkins can move back inside to his natural position with the addition of Hawkins, and should be much better.
C- Dom Espinosa will probably will end up being the starter, but he MUST get a lot stronger if he wants to hold his own.
